Death*22 July 1900He died on 22 July 1900 at Accomack Co, VA, at age 81. Dr. Oswald B. Finney, a well known citzen of Accomac and prominent in its affairs for 40 years or more, died at his home at Onancock after a long illness on Sunday, aged 81 years. In early life he made of himself the reputation of being a first class physician and sustained it throughout his life and was so recongnized in his latter days by receiving the appointment as one of the examiners fo the State Board of Physicians. Being fond of politics though and having ample means to gratify his taste in that direction he did not contine himself to his profession. As a Whig before the war he was called upon to serve his party in the Legislature and during the term his zeal in the interest of his party lead to a dual between him and Hon. Roger A. Pryor. The men met on the Manchester side of the James River and the doctor was wounded in the side. Since the war Dr. Finney has been an intense Democrat and as such he served his country in both houses of the Legislature. (P.E., 28 Jul 1900 issue.)2
Burial*Oswald was buried at Meadville, Onancock, Acc Co, VA. His tombstone shows him as Dr. O.B. Finney, son of Col. Jno. & Marg't.2
