Anecdote*1865 William and Mary Elizabeth Thornton lived south of Assawoman. He was a boat captain plying his trade to Philadelphia and Baltimore. They are buried amongst a clump of trees on the east side of Metompkin Rd. in between some black folks and Ryan Chesser's chicken houses. The cemetery is terribly overgrown and we have never visited it (Sue & Becky Boggs).7 
Death*9 February 1866William died on 9 February 1866 at age 55. Acc Co Death Records show him as Wm. Thornton, who died 20 Feb 1866 of consumption, at the age of 55 years. He was the son of John & Eliz. Thornton, born in Acc Co and a sailor, the husband of Eliz. who reported the information..2,8 
Burial*His body was interred at Thornton Plot, Assawoman, Acc Co, VA. His tombstone shows him as William G. Thornton, (13 Oct 1810 - 9 Feb 1866) who is burried next to Elizabeth A. Thornton..2

Anecdote* At some time, Mary and her Bunting children moved to Philadelphia. We have been told by an elderly relative that Mary got her captain's pilot license and was the first female to do so. Mary then married Peter G. Ritter. He was supposedly a desk editor for a newspaper that was a predessor to the Phila. Evening Bulletin. He left Mary and the children. He, supposedly, died at or near Sparows Point, MD. This was told to our Great Aunt Ida, who consulted a fortune teller (Sue & Becky Boggs).6

Azariah Bloxom & wife Nancy, James Conquest & wife Sally, John Benston & wife Mary, John Small & wife Nancy and Absolom Ross & wife Rachel sold 88 acres to John Martin for 60 pounds currency in Accomack Parish, bounded on SW: by Samuel Johnson late of the heirs of William Bloxom (Cattail), SE: Solomon Boston, NE: heirs of Jacob Taylor dec'd, NW: by said John Martin & Esther Bird. It was the land (88 acres) of William Bloxom (Cattail). John Benston & Mary deed recorded 28 Sep 1801 and Absolom Ross & Rachel deed recorded 27 Apr 1802.6

Parramore are to convey to David Taylor & in case of failure to forfeit an interest in this will to that amount" was improperly inserted therein & refused to admit the same to probate..7
