Death*3 August 1953Bloomfield died on 3 August 1953 at P.G. Hospital, Salisbury, Wic Co, MD, at age 56. Mr. Bloomfield Miles, 56, of Fruitland, MD died Monday, August 3rd at 6 A.M. at Peninsula General Hospital, after a short illness. He was strickened with a heart attack Monday A.M. July 27th and later showed signs of improvement until Friday, July 30th, when he was stricken with pneumonia, of which he succumbed. He was the son of the late Richard Miles, Sr. and Mary Carpenter Miles. He was born in the vicinity of Machipongo where he lived the earlier years of his life.
Mr. Miles was a veteran of World War I enlisting in the Army in 1918. In 1920 he made his home for a while in Nassawadox, while there he married Miss Margaret Savage of Keller in Sept. 1920. he then moved to Hebron, MD and made his home in the vicinities of Hebron, Salisbury and Fruitland, Md until his death. Funeral was held at Holloways Funeral Home, Salisbury, Md. on Wednesday at 2 P.M. Interment was in Hebron Cemetery. Mr. Miles is survived by wife Margaret Savage Miles; one son, Roy Miles of Salisbury; one daughter, Jean Ryall; one grandson, Donnie Miles; one granddaughter, Bonnie Jean Ryall; one half brother, two half sisters on father's side: Mr. Clifford Miles, Exmore; Mrs. Gussie Beachboard and Mrs. Lena Beachboard, Accomac; one brother Charlie Miles, Cape Charles; one half brother, two half sisters on mother's side: William T. Davis, Nassawadox; Mrs. Evelyn Isdell, Mrs. Katie Townsend, Birdsnest. The funeral was largely attended and the floral tributes were numerous and beautiful, showing that Mr. Miles had a host of friends..2

Whereas a certain Levin Laylor, father of the said William Laylor did by will executed on the 23rd day of December 1819 and recorded in the county court of Accomack, devise to the said William Laylor, by the name of Garababel William Laylor to Mary Elizabeth Laylor since deceased, a certain tract and parcel of land described in said will to them and their heirs, but if they should die without issue then he devised the same to the children of his brother Arthur Laylor and Kazieh, Mary and John Chandler to be equally divided between them and said parties of the first part have a contingent interest in the aforesaid land, dependant upon the said William Laylor dying without issue, same being willing to release all their interest in said land and said will to William Laylor. Now this deed witnesses that for and in consideration of fifty dollars in hand to the parties of the first part by William Laylor, the reception whereof is hereby acknowledged, the said Samuel White and Mary his wife, the same Mary named in the said Levin Laylor’s will, John Chandler also named in said will, and my brother Arthur Laylor’s children named in said will of Levin, Elizabeth, Virginia, Kazieh having since been married as above stated who are the children and heirs of Arthur Laylor, above named in said Levin Laylor’s will, do by these presents, grant, bargain, sell and convey quit claim to and release unto the said William Laylor his heirs and issue, all their rights, title and interest both at law and in equity in proportion … remainder of interest in the tract of land devised to said William Laylor by his father Levin Laylor as aforementioned and situated in Accomack County, Virginia bordered on the north by the land said William Laylor purchased of Elizabeth Revell and the land of Gull Snead and William I. Riley; east by the land of James Bonewell; south by a branch of Onancock Creek, which divides it from the land of Nath Toppery and containing by estimation, one hundred and fifty acres, be the same more or less, together with all the privileges appertaining thereto, in any wise appertaining or belonging to same, and to hold the above grants conveys interest and estate to him the said William J. Laylor and his heirs and issue forever, and they the parties of the first part do hereby covenant and agree to and with the said William J. Laylor and his heirs and issue that they will and their heirs shall defend the title to the above grant interest and estate to the said William J. Laylor and his heirs and issue, free and clear of the claims of themselves and their heirs and all persons, claims by or through them the children of the aforesaid Arthur Laylor, but against the claims of no other persons whatsoever.
