Deposition of Thomas Bloxom: That the foregoing will was written by him at the direction of the testator, and that the devise to Woodman Bloxom was not by his direction, but was desired so to do by Woodman who had the consent of the said Joseph for that purpose, as he told him, and that after he had wrote it he read it to the said Joseph who made no objection, but before he signed it the said Joseph was taken out of his senses and so remained while this deponent stayed. John Ross also deposed that he heard the said will read to the said testator. It is the opinion of the Court that the same is sufficiently proved, and ordered to be admitted to record.9

Will - Step Brother*23 May 1701His was named in the will of his step-brother on 23 May 1701 at Northampton Co, VA. In his will William Hamerin, wife Jane, named brothers-in-law (step brothers) James & Bartholomew Twiford and sister-in-law (step sister) Mary Twiford and a godson Nicholas Laylor.2 
Land inherited*1701He inherited land in 1701 at tract N123, west of Exmore, Northampton Co, VA. This was the western portion, next to the 100 acres of N120 which John Hamerin already owned, and upon his intestate death he was succeeded by a son William. In 1701 William (wife Jane) left 70 acres of the N120 land to John Lawrence; the balance became merged with this land, which he left to his brothers-in-law James and Bartholomew Twiford.3 
Will - Father's*9 April 1708Bartholomew was named in his father's will on 9 April 1708 at Northampton Co, VA. In his will William Twiford, felt maker, wife Jane, named children James, Barthollomew, William, John, Jane & Mary Twiford.1

Appraiser*2 May 1711Bartholomew was named as an appraiser of an estate on 2 May 1711 at Accomack Co, VA. Richard Savage was granted administration of the estate of John Lecat (deceased), that was in the possession of Thomasin Lecat, who had recently died as well. He swore that she had made no will; Thomas Bagwell and William Savage were accepted as security. Before the next court John Willis, Robert Savage, Daniel Willis and Bartholomu Twiford (or any three of them) were to inventory and appraise the goods left to Thomasin Lecat by the will of John Lecat (both now deceased).5 
Court - named in ord*5 August 1712He was named in a court order on 5 August 1712 at Accomack Co, VA. William Burton, churchwarden, presented the following persons for "not abiding in ye Church during ye time of Common prayer and preaching": Morris Sheapheard, Thomas Luis, Thomas Foscue, Jonathan Bunting, William Twiford and Jonathan Chambers. John Booth and Elizabeth Hutton were presented for fornication "by Common fame." Ordered that the above persons were ordered to appear at the next court to answer their presentments.6 
Court - named in ord3 December 1712He was named in a court order on 3 December 1712 at Accomack Co, VA. William Twiford was presented by Mr. William Burton (churchwarden) for "not abiding at Church nor beheaving himselfe as he aught during davine service or common prayer & preaching." Summoned to court, Twiford failed to appear; the sheriff had been ordered to take him into custody till he posted bond to come to this court. Since he could not clear himself, the court fined him 5 shillings (or 50 lbs tobacco) and court costs.7 
Land sold*1723He sold land in 1723 at tract N123, west of Exmore, Northampton Co, VA. It was in this year that Bartholomew Twiford sold as 85 his part of this tract to Jacob Dewey for "two likely Negroes." It was also in this year that he confirmed to his nephew John Twiford his half of the undivided land.3 
Land bought*3 March 1723/24He bought land on 3 March 1723/24 at Accomack Co, VA. Edward Kellam presented and acknowledged a deed for land he sold to Bartholomue Twiford.8

Will*4 January 1759Bartholomew made a will on 4 January 1759 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as Bartholomew Twifoot. To wife Sarah house & plantation during her widow then to be sold & money divided between my 3 sons, Daniel, John & Bartholomew Twifoot. To Sarah Lingo. To Rachel Lingo. Sons James, Levin & William Twifoot residual legatees. Wife & Thomas Custis Exrs. Witt: Elishe Custis, Southe Savage, Brigit Chance.11 
Death*before 27 February 1759He died before 27 February 1759 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that his will was probated. Bartholomew Twifoot, Jr., heir at law to the testator - Sheriff returned said citation "Bartholomew Twifoot not found within my Bailiwick."12

Death*27 January 1846Thomas Robinson Riley died on 27 January 1846 at Washington, DC, at age 62. On Tuesday the 27th instant, Mr. Thomas Robinson Riley, a native of the county of Accomac, State of Virginia, but for the last 20 years a resident of this city. His funeral will take place on Thursday next at 2 o'clock. The friends of the family are invited. Personal Sketches--District of Columbia, p. 265 - Thomas Robinson Riley, father of W.R.S. Riley, was a native of Accomac county, Va., having been born July 10, 1783. He was a man of much influence in the county and was a member of the old county court and high sheriff. In 1816 he married Elizabeth Cropper Blackstone, of his own county, and to their marriage were born ten children, viz: Wm. R.S., Ann Robinson Smith, Thomas Wise, of Sinnickson, Accomac county, Va., and Elizabeth Wise, who died in 1879, the wife of Benjamin T. Hodges of Prince George's county, Md; Ellen Robinson, who died May 20, 1872, the wife of Charles Frederick Stansbury of Washington; Laura Custis; John Blackstone, who died in 1851, aged twenty-three, unmarried; Philander Chase, died in 1884; he married Virginia Smith, daughter of Benjamin Price Smith, of Washington; Melinda Hack, wife of Eldridge J. Smith; Catharine Custis, wife of John J. Smolinski of Washington. The father of this family died in January 1846, having been a widower since December 6, 1834. John Riley, father of T.R. Riley and grandfather of W.R.S. Riley was born in Accomac county, Va., where he was engaged in planting until his death in 1790. He was married to Elizabeth Smith, and of his two children--a son and a daughter--Thomas R. lived to maturity, and the daughter died in infancy. William Robinson Smith Riley dropped the Smith from his name when he entered into business. Will of Thomas R. Riley, of City of Washington, D.C. (dtd. Jan. 14, 1846, probated Feb. 3, 1846, Will Book 6) To oldest child, William R. Riley, all property. Wits.: Nathaniel Pope Causin; Harvey Lindsly; Joseph H. Bradley.2 
Burial*Thomas was buried at Congressional Cemtery, Washington, DC.2
