Her busband, a leading member of society in the Jacksonion era was distinguished in law and politics. Other than her husband, Thomas H. Bayly, descendants in Richmond are the members of the E.G. Higginbotham's family of "Ravenswood." Mrs. Higginbotham was Mrs.
Bayly's eldest daughter. For the last 20 years of her life, she lived at her Franklin Street residence with her grand-daughter, the wife of J.C. Brockenbrough. According to the PE 22 Sep 1888, Jane O. Bayly, died at aged 96, and was the widow of the Hon. Thomas M. Bayly, mother of Mrs. E.G. Higginbotham, grandmother of C.P.E. Burgwyn, Mrs. Cabell Brockenbrough and Mrs. Henry Gibson. (NOTE: The 1880 Census for Richmond, Henrico Co, VA, page 6c, shows a C.P.E. Burgwyn, a 27 year old son, born in NC, of the head of household, Anna Burgwyn, age 61, born in MA. The 1910 Census of Henrico Co, Madison-wd Richmond, District 117, HH#917 shows a C.P.E. Burgwyn, a 59 year old widower, born in NC, a civil engineer.)

Death*2 September 1930She died on 2 September 1930 at Rome, Provincia di Roma, Lazio, Italy, at age 86. Daughter of Capt Thomas Bayly Cropper and Rosina Mix. She is buried with her parents and brothers John and Thomas, apparently never married. Her father was born in Virginia. The DOB is per a passport application she submitted to travel in 1870 along with her brother John. Her registration with the American Consulate in Rome in 1913 states she arrived there in May, 1909. Katherine died of broncho pneumonia while living in Rome. Her remains were shipped back to the US on the President Garfield which arrived about September 30. There is also a FAG memorial for him at New York Marble Cemetery. That memorial lists his parents and age at death of 8 mos 30 days and cause of death as whooping cough. Mr. Tony Cameron Martin, 50, husband of Diana Martin of Belinda Road, Hallwood, VA passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, MD. Born in Nassawadox, VA on February 9, 1959, he was the son of the late Randall Eugene Martin, and Peggy Ann Linton Martin of Saxis. Tony was a graduate of Atlantic High School, a member of the Temperanceville Masonic Lodge, and the owner of Bayside Market and Bayside Welding. Other than his wife and mother, he is survived by a daughter, Tanya Danielle Martin of Parksley, two sons; Levin Wade Martin of Ocean City, MD and Tony Cameron Martin, Jr. of Hallwood, three step-children; Jason Michael Whitehead, Jackie Lawrence Whitehead, Jr., and Diana Marie Whitehead, two brothers; Hance Eugene Martin and his wife Ramona of Mears, VA and Randall Craig Martin and his wife, Patty of Saxis, a sister; Brenda Sue Marshall of Saxis, four grandchildren; Justin Bradley Martin, Kya Whitehead, Brandon Lee Martin, and Brianna Marie Martin. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, October 17, at 2:00 PM from the Saxis United Methodist Church with Pastor Freddie Ward officiating. Interment will follow in the Baptist Cemetery in Saxis. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements are by the Thornton Funeral Home in Parksley.
