Henry Stott I1

M, b. 1634, d. before 28 November 1692
Last Edited6 Jul 2020
Birth*1634Henry Stott I was born in 1634 at England.2
Baptism8 May 1634He was baptized on 8 May 1634 at St. Margaret, Westminster, London, England. Beverly Walker reports that there is a baptismal record for a Henry Stott, father David, 8 May 1634, St. Margaret, Westminster, London, England. This certainly sounds like Henry Stott of Northampton Co, VA, but needs further checking.3
Marriage*circa 1665He married Priscilla (-----) circa 1665 at Northampton Co, VA.1
Land patented*1669Henry Stott I patented land in 1669 at tract N90, north of Nassawadox, Northampton Co, VA. Henry Stott was granted a patent for the same 400 acres he later brought from George Dewey & his wife Ann. How he could have patented the land before he had purchased it is not clear. In 1688 he gave the south 200 acres to his son Jonathan and 4 years later in his will (his wife being named Hannah) he confirmed the gift and left the other half to his son David. (NOTE: Marshall's will book shows his wife as Priscilla.)4,1
Age was stated*January 1673/74His age was stated in January 1673/74 at Accomack Co, VA. He signed his name as Henry Stott and said he was age 40.2
Will*7 August 1690Henry made a will on 7 August 1690 at Northampton Co, VA. In his will Henry Stott gave to my son Henry Stott my 200 A. plantation where I now live, and my mill. To son Jonathan Stott 200 A. out of the 400 A. in the woods which I have given him by deed of gift. To son David Stott the remaining 200 A. in the woods, my gun, cutlass, and case of pistols. To my beloved wife Priscilla the use for life of the plantation I now live upon. To wife my servant boy and orphan girl during the time they have to serve. To my dau. Frances Williams the wife of Morgan Williams cows and calves to her and her children. To dau. Priscilla household items when she marries. Remaining animals to be eq. div. by my children, viz., Jonathan Stott, David Stott, Mary Grice, and Priscilla Stott, and my wife. To each of my three grandchildren Sarah Stott dau. of Henry, Priscilla Grice dau. of Peter, and Anne Stott dau. of Jonathan a cow calf. Wife extrx. Witt: Lawrence Teigue, Thomas Teigue, John Walker.1
