Land bought*12 December 1905William E. 'W.E.' Wilkerson bought land on 12 December 1905 at Miona, Accomack Co, VA. W.E. Wilkerson bought 125 acres at Miona from William T. Duncan for $2,250. William T. Duncan had bought this farm from John S. Johnson for $1,500. Johnson had purchased the tract on 4 Jan 1870 for $2,000 from John W. Gladding & wife Margaret, 175 acres of land bound easterly by Alfred Gladding. Since both John W. Gladding and Alfred Gladding were sons of Henry Gladding, and grandsons of John Gladding, it appears Henry F. Wilkerson could have been born and died on land that first became Wilkerson land in 1699. A Gladding graveyard was reserved for the use of the Gladdings when W.E. Wilkerson bought the land and when William T. Duncan bought the land in 1892.3

He was buried at Nelson Cemetery. (NOTE: Carey adds that he farmed on his land at Miona until he retired about 1937 and moved to New Church.)4
