Turner on May 22, 1868 in Harrison County, Kentucky. According to her obituary in the February 24, 1921 Mt. Sterling Advocate, Mary died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Sid (Rebecca Ann) Johnson in the Aaron's Run neighborhood of Montgomery County, Kentucky. The obituary also states that Mary was buried in the Wilson Graveyard.3

Brown, 87, of Enid, Oklahoma, formerly of Cynthiana, Kentucky, died Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at Greenbrier Nursing Home, in Enid, Oklahoma. He was born in Cynthiana, Kentucky, September 27, 1923, to the late James Madison and Nettie Padgett Brown. Mr. Brown was a retired sales and service person for oil jobbers'. Mr. Brown was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Order of Kentucky Colonels, Veterans of Foreign Wars and served on the Fabulous Fourth Committee. He was an honorably discharged Navy Veteran of World War II. His wife Ellen Houston Brown preceded him in death. Survivors include one son, James E. "Jim" Brown, Enid, Oklahoma, one daughter, Ellen June Mountjoy, Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. Three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Services will be conducted 11 A.M. Monday, February 14, 2011, at the Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home, by Rev. James Owens, with burial in Battle Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. Sunday. Memorials may be made to VFW Foundation or Circle of Love Hospice in Enid, Oklahoma.1

He is survived by his wife, two daughters, and two grandsons.1
