Ciancia of Chester and Mrs. Caroline McGowan of Glen Mills, 3 sisters, Mrs. Ruth N. Lassiter of Atlanta, Ga, Mrs. Nena Sobotka of Ft. Nelson of West Chester, James L. Nelson of Parkside and John P. Nelson of Claymont; 3 daughters, Rose M. Ferry of Claymont, Josephine Jody L. Ciancia of Upland, and Carolean T. McGowan of Chester; a sister, Ellen Negri of Wilmington, 22 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She also was the mother of the late Eustace N. Nelson, Jr. who died in an electrical accident at his home in July, 1972. The funeral will be at 8:30 am Saturday from the Ward Funeral Home, 1459 Market St, Linwood. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Saturday, Sept. 26, in Holy Saviour Catholic Church, Linwood. Calling hours are from 8:30 to 9:30 am Saturday, Sept 26 at Ward Funeral Home. According to one descendant, the Lindsays were a wealthy, genteel Snow Hill farming family and were much opposed to Annie's relationship with W. D. S. because of their different backgrounds and social standing. Nevertheless, they married and lived with the Lindsay's at Sandy Hill farm for several years before moving to Baltimore, MD. Annie was self-employed as a milliner and dressmaker, and supported her family of 10 children until her death from TB in 1907. W. D. S. was a salesman and remained mostly unemployed throughout his life, being supported by his wife and later his adult children until his death in 1931.1,2,3
