Census w/grdfather*16 April 1829George was listed with his grandfather in the census of 16 April 1829 at Northampton Co, VA. In his will David Topping gave to granddaughter Lavinia W. Dunton my plantation or tract of land upon which I now reside. But if my said grandaughter Lavinia W. Dunton should die, then I give the said plantation to be equally divided among such of my grand children, the children of my deceased daughter Nancy Dunton. I give to my grandaughter Rosina B. Dunton my plantation or tract of land called Dunton land. But if my said granddaughter Rosina B. Dunton should die then I give the said plantation to be equally divided among the children of my deceased daughter Nancy Dunton. I give to my grandson David A. Dunton my plantation or tract of land called Lewis Town. But if my said grandson David A Dunton should die then I give the said plantation to be equally divided among the children of my deceased daughter Nancy Dunton. I give to my grandson George B. Dunton sixteen hundred dollars in cash. I give to Nancy Smith, widow of John Smith one hundred dollars in cash. The balance of my estate real and personal I give to my grandchildren Lavinia W. ARINTHA BELL DIED ON TUESDAY - Mrs. Arintha Bell, of Annapolis, a former resident of Mariners, died of lobar pneumonia Tuesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Nelson, at Mariners, where she was visiting, after an illness of three weeks. She was 73 years of age. Mrs. Bell was the widow of the late Bryon Bell, who died in August, 1936. She was the daughter of the late William H. and Emily Riggin Bedsworth, and a member of one of Somerset county's oldest and most highly esteemed families. For a number of years she had been making her home with Mr. and Mrs. William McCready, at Annapolis.
She was a member of Mariners M. P. Church and before making her home in Annapolis, took an active interest in all affairs of her church and community. She was well-known and had a large circle of friends who were grieved to learn of her passing. Mrs. Bell is survived by two brothers, John F. Bedsworth, of Washington, D.C., and Charles W. Bedsworth, of Pittsburgh, Pa. Funeral services were held from Mariners M. P. Church yesterday Thursday, afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. W. C. Mumford, pastor. Interment was in the family plot in Mariners cemetery.1

Will - Uncle's*16 May 1836Charlotte was named in her uncle's will on 16 May 1836 at Northampton Co, VA. In his will Levin Y. Winder directed that his executor hereinafter named have plain stone or marble slabs with suitable inscriptions thereon erected over the graves of my father, mother and myself. I give and bequeath to John H. Winder, Lauretta A. Garrett, Mary Susan Winder and Levin Y. Winder (children of my brother George H. Winder dec'd) and to George R. Garrett (son of Penelope Garrett dec'd who was a daughter of my said brother George H. Winder dec'd) the sum of one thousand dollars. I give and bequeath to Van P. Winder and Caroline L. Guion (children of my brother Thomas J. Winder dec'd) the sum of one thousand dollars. I give and bequeath to my sister Mary Harmanson Winder the sum of five hundred dollars. I give and bequeath to Lauretta A. Winder, Charlotte S. Winder and Susan C. Garrett (children of my brother John H. Winder) one half of all the rest and residue of my estate. Robins gave her man Shadrack, my woman Candace and her children their freedom. I give my man Shadrack two hundred dollars. I give my woman Candace two hundred dollars. I give my Negro George two hundred dollars. I give my Negro Henry two hundred dollars. I give fifty dollars to Rosena Winder. I give fifty to her brother John Winder. I give my bed and bedstead and covering to Charlotte Winder. Whatever money remains in my trunks at my decease to be equally divided between Charlotte Winder and L. A. Winder. I give my cloak to Mrs. S. C. Winder. I give to Mr. John H. Winder fifty dollars. I give to my brother's two sons John and William if alive one hundred dollars each. I give Doctor John Ker one hundred dollars should there be any part of my estate undisposed of by this my will I give the same to Doctor John Ker.
