Poulson, adjoining the heirs of Revell Dix & Negro man Charles, one boy Kiah... 1/3 of my water grist & saw mill & 1/3 of 7 acres adjoining Poulson's mill. To daughter Margaret R. Bagwell the land I purchased of Thomas Cropper being the land formerly of George Bundick & 20 acres in the swamp it being part of the land I purchased of John M. Poulson adjoining son Thomas Bagwell & Negro boy Henry & one girl Ibby & one bureau. Extr. to pursue the Suit in Chancery against Thomas Cropper to recover a deficiency in the quantity of land I purchased of him. To daughter Margaret 1/3 part of water grist & sawmill & 1/3 of 7 acres adjoining Poulson's mills. To wife Margaret ... & my Negro woman Rose & at my wife's death or marriage Rose to be free or the liberty to serve any of my children if she will not accept her freedom. If my wife claims her dower in my mill at Assawoman & the 22 acres in the same neighborhood, my son Thomas & my daughter Margaret, out of the estate devised to them, shall pay to the trustees herein appointed for my daughter Sarah P. To my grandson Isaiah Newton Bagwell $500 & a pair of gold sleeve buttons engraved "I. B." & my watch. To my granddaughter Anna Goldie Walston $50, … & ½ dozen silver teaspoons marked "K. G." & my interest in Negro girl Rosina until she arrives at age 21 & then she to go free. To daughter-in-law Margaret G. Bagwell ... To my great grandsons Samuel Walston & William Bagwell Walston ... To my son William Bagwell $120 & also my pension that may be due at my death. Should my son Erastus die before arriving to lawful age or marriage, the land & other things given him to descend to my next eldest son, & that part of my estate given to my son who may survive the said Erastus to descend to the survivor or survivors of my said other children. To daughter Polly all her mother's wearing apparel. To Zadock Poulson 1/9 of all the crop that is made on my planta, this year, provided he continues on said plantation & does his duty as a Crops man. Rev War Vet relative*28 July 1840She was shown to be related to a Rev War veteran on 28 July 1840. George Oldham, was a Lieut. in the Va. Contl. Line. In this case it appears that Lieut. Oldham entered the services in Feb 1776 making a service of seven years and nine months to the end of the war. He was allowed by a former executive land bounty for the war. The present executive cannot allow additional (26 Mar 1840). At a Circuit Superior Court of Law and Chancery for Richmond, Henrico County, Virginia, 29 July 1840. Certified that George Oldham was an officer in the Rev. War and died intestate 1789 or 1790, leaving five children: (1) Betsey; (2) Sally: (3) Rosetta; (4) Samuel; and (5) Leroy. (1) Betsy married George Wise and died about 1813, intestate, leaving six children: Cassa, Ann, Fanny, Mary, Betsey and Thomas. Cassa married Isaiah Baker; Ann married James Dennis; Fanny married James Harrell; Mary married Thomas Murphy; Betsey married William Graves and died 1825-26 intestate, leaving one child, William Graves. (2) Sally Oldham married Robert Ashby and is now living (1840). (3) Rosetta Oldham married Elijah White and is living. (4) Samuel Oldham died about 1820, leaving one child, George Oldham. (5) Leroy died about the same year, leaving three children: Montcalm, Leroy and George Oldham, and that the persons above mentioned are the only heirs a law of George Oldham. Copy teste, Wm. G. Sands, Dep. Clerk. Northampton Co Court, 11 Sep 1833, Montcalm and Leroy Oldham, orphans of Leroy Oldham, dec'd, made a choice of John Ker as their guardian. Copy teste, Louis P. Rogers, Dep. Clerk. Rosey White, one of the heirs of George Oldham, appointed Felix Richards as her Atty., 6 May 1840. Signed before Nath'l Topping of Accomack Co. Montcalm Oldham and John Ker (as guardian for Leroy Oldham) appointed same atty. Signed before John Adams, J. of P., Northampton Co, VA, 21 Apr 1840.
