Birth*circa 1670Grace Parsons was born circa 1670 at Northampton Co, VA.
Anecdote*1676 Cattle marks were recorded in 1676 for Grace Parsons the daughter and for Anne Parsons the wife of Eustice Parsons, Anne's mark being formerly the mark of Henry Mitchell.1
Guardian - mentioned*31 October 1681Grace was mentioned when a guardian was named on 31 October 1681 at Northampton Co, VA. This day Emanuell Hall made choice of his brother-in-law John Fathrey to be his guardian which the court approves of and orders that he take the said Hall's estate into his custody and bring in an account thereof to the next court and then enter into bond with security to be responsible for the same when required. The care and kindness formerly and still showed and taken by Col. Wm. Kendall on the bahalf and for the orphans of Emanuel Hall dec'd is still by the court desired by him to be continued in the enquireing into and settling of that stock belonging to Grace Peasons, the youngest daughter of Anne Peasons dec'd(sic), the wife of Eustace Peasons and formerly of the said Emanuel Hall and to signify the same to the next court. This day Emanuell Hall by and with the consent of his guardian John Fathrey bound himself an apprentice to John Brewer, Smith, which the court took recognisance of and order to be put upon record. (NOTE: Evidently the "dec'd" after Anne Peasons name was an error and probably should have been placed after Emanuel Hall's name which followed her's, as she was obviously the wife Eustace Peasons at this time.)2
Marriage*circa 1688She married Jeremy Wood circa 1688.3
Married Namecirca 1688 As of circa 1688,her married name was Wood.

Guardian - chose*31 October 1681He chose a guardian on on 31 October 1681 at Northampton Co, VA. (NOTE: Evidently the "dec'd" after Anne Peasons name was an error and probably should have been placed after Emanuel Hall's name which followed her's, as she was obviously the wife Eustace Peasons at this time.)5,6
Will*before 2 July 1688Emmanuel made a will before 2 July 1688 at Northampton Co, VA. In his Nuncup. (verbal) will Emanuel Hall gave to John Fathery's girl and boy 2 heifers. Remaining estate to the two girls of my brother John Hall, and he to give to Grace Wood 2 shifts and a petticoat. Witt: Jerom Griffith, cooper, Gilbert Moore, planter.1
Death*before 2 July 1688He died before 2 July 1688 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that his will was proved. John Hall brother of the dec'd qualified as admtr.1

Land sold*6 May 1730Rachel (-----) sold land on 6 May 1730 at Accomack Co, VA. The deed for land John and Rachel Northam sold Mary Andrews was presented by John Osbourne and recorded.1
Court - nam in petit*January 1738/39She was named in a petition that was recorded in court records in January 1738/39 at Accomack Co, VA. On the complaint of Rachel Northam, her husband John was bound to keep the peace, but in January 1738/39, he was released from his bond because no one appeared to protest. During the next ten months Rachel probably noticed that she was seeing less of her husband; he was unlawfully cohabiting with Sarah Benston for least part of that time. While her husband's philandering may have been part of the picture, it was not the whole story. The following January Rachel came to court and petitioned that "she had for a long time by past been used with so much Cruelty by her Husband that she could not with Safety of Life longer cohabit with him." He refused to support her even though she had brought several slaves and a considerable estate to their marriage. Now, because of infirmity, age and her husband's abuse, she claimed she was unable to work for her living. Penniless, Rachel was declared a pauper and assigned Geo. Douglas as her attorney. Northam went on to other things, including obtaining a discharge from the bond keeping him from Sarah Benston, but poor Rachel and her petition simply faded away.2
