Birth*1650John Pott was born in 1650.1
Age was judged*16 February 1664/65His age was judged on 16 February 1664/65 at Accomack Co, VA. Jno. Pott, servant of John Watts, was judged to be 15 years old.1
Land cert named in*16 March 1668/69He was named in a certificate for land on 16 March 1668/69 at Accomack Co, VA. Major Tilney left the court for the following action: Certificate was granted to Major John Tilney for 200 acres for transporting: Henry Knight, Tho. Ryding, Thomas Ryce, and John Potts.2
Court - name in stat*16 December 1669He was named in a statement that was recorded in court records on 16 December 1669 at Accomack Co, VA. Major John Tilney complained that his servants Henry Knight and John Pott ran away with Hopkin Davey. Knight and Pott admitted this; they were ordered to serve their master an additional 10 months to pay for searching for them, for damages caused to corn and tobacco by their absence, and for court costs.3
Deposition*16 December 1669He gave a deposition on 16 December 1669 at Accomack Co, VA. Deposition of John Pott aged about 23 years. Last summer Pott saw Henry Knight, servant to Major Jno. Tilney, strike his master over the head with a tobacco stick which then broke. Signed by John (O with a dot) Pott.3
Court - name in stat16 March 1669/70He was named in a statement that was recorded in court records on 16 March 1669/70 at Accomack Co, VA. In the December court, Major Jno. Tilney complained that his servant Hopkin Davis ran away with Henry Knight and John Pott. As Davis was not in court, judgment was not then passed against him. Davis appeared at this court, however, and admitted being equally guilty with Knight and Pott. Ordered that Davis, for damages sustained by his master, serve an additional ten months and pay court charges.4
Court - named in ord*16 April 1673He was named in a court order on 16 April 1673 at Accomack Co, VA. John Pott, servant to Lt. Col. Jno. Tilney, confessed that he ran away and was gone for 21 days during crop time in the summer. For damages suffered by Tilney, Pott was ordered to serve 63 additional days, pay his master 150 lbs tobacco for the cost of finding him, and pay court costs. Because Jno. Pott, servant to Lt. Col. Jno. Tilney, neglected his master's service and "insolently abused him" by making a complaint without proof, it was ordered that Pott be taken into the sheriff's custody and receive 20 lashes well laid on his bare back. He was also to pay court charges. Ordered that if either Ryley or Pott happened to die before the expiration of their times of service, the one surviving would be liable for the payment of court charges accruing from the deceased.5
