     Daniel Boston Marshall was married by John E. Bundick. He was the head of a household in Acc Co in the 1880, 1900 and 1910 Census as a farmer. In 1910 he and his wife Mary T. had been married 32 years and had 6 children, 5 of whom were living. He was a member of the Pocomoke Meth Ch at Grotons from 1898 until his death. He wrote his will on 26 Oct 1910 and named his wife Tressa, youngest son Reginald and other children as Ida, Ernest and Nona. Undocumented data on Daniel Boston Marshall's descendants has been given by Mrs. Carolyn (Conaway) Jones of Pocomoke City, MD. She is a granddaughter of Daniel's son Ernest, through his daughter Helen, who married John Conaway. Other undocumented data was given by Mr. Paul Martin of Saxis, VA, brother to Ernest's wife, Sennie (Martin) Marshall. An interesting sideline of the family is that Daniel Boston Marshall's mother-in-law, Drucilla (Mears) Bell, a widow of 40, married Peleg Hussey, 55, a widower, in 1874 (Acc Marr Reg #3). Peleg was a blacksmith from Lincoln Co, ME, and Drucilla was a daughter of Robert Mears (son of John) and wife Nancy (widow of James Underhill). Peleg and Drucilla had a son Americus Hussey, 4 years old in 1880 Census (b.c. 1876), who would have been a half-brother to Daniel Boston Marshall's wife Mary Tressa (Bell) Marshall. Americus Hussey's daughters, Sophronia and Drucilla, were half first cousins to Daniel Boston Marshall's children. Daniel was born in 1852 at Accomack Co, VA. According to his marriage record he was born in 1857..² He was listed as a resident in the census report in 1860 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA.³ He married Mary Tressa Bell, daughter of Lorenzo D. Bell and Drucilla Mears, on 25 December 1878 at Messongo, Acc Co, VA.¹ Daniel's will was probated on 6 April 1911 at Accomack Co, VA.⁴ Daniel died in 1911.² His body was interred at Knight's Cem, Messongo, Acc Co, VA.²

     Mrs. Theresa Marshall, widow of the late Daniel Marshall, died at her home at Messongo, Friday morning, 1 Dec 1922. She was survived by 2 duaghters, Ida White and Mrs. George Bundick and 1 son, Mr. Reginald Marshall (Pen. Ent., 9 Dec 1922). A list of Mary Tressa (Bell) Marshall's heirs is in Acc Co Wills, 1920-28, p. 113. Mary and her sister Sallie married brothers. Mary was born on 5 March 1861 at Accomack Co, VA.² She married Daniel Boston Marshall, son of William Marshall and Pamelia S. Knight, on 25 December 1878 at Messongo, Acc Co, VA.¹ As of 25 December 1878,her married name was Marshall.¹ Mary was on the in 1900 roll of the at Pocomoke Meth Ch, Grotons, Acc Co, VA.³ She married (-----) Silverthorn after 1911.⁴ Mary died on 1 December 1922 at Messongo, Acc Co, VA, at age 61.⁵ Her body was interred at Knight's Cem, Messongo, Acc Co, VA.²

     William was born circa 1827 at Accomack Co, VA.² He married Pamelia S. Knight, daughter of Dunreath M. Knight and Elizabeth Marshall, on 27 January 1848 at Accomack Co, VA. James C. Johnson and Thomas D. Trader were the securities on the M.L.B. of William Marshall of Henry (Henny?) and Pamelia Knight of Elizabeth..³ He was also referred to as John William Marshall. The 1850 Census shows William Marshall, age 23, with wife Pamelia, age 21, and daughter Elizabeth, age 1, in the household of Daniel Boston, a bachelor, which was next door to his mother, Henny Marshall. Oscar Marshall, age 9, son of Mary Ann Marshall, and grandson of Adah Marshall, was also living with Daniel Boston. Adah is believed to have been a sister to William's father, which would have made Oscar a first cousin to William. Daniel Boston was related to all the bayside Marshalls as his father, Solomon Boston, was half first cousin to the Samuel Marshall (1725-1785) who had come to Acc Co from Somerset Co by 1758. According to the Boston Family of Maryland book, pp. 2, 21 & 22, Solomon Boston came to Acc Co from Somerset Co to buy land on Messongo Creek in 1765. This made Daniel Boston (1784-1854) half second cousin to the children of Samuel Marshall (1725-1785), which included William's grandfather, Thomas Marshall (1763-1815). On 1 Jun 1853, Daniel Boston gave to William Marshall, of Hennie, 25 acres of land on Messongo Creek "for the natural love and affection I bear him" (Acc Deeds 1853-1855, p. 41). The gift was to become affective at the death of Daniel Boston, who died the following year (Acc Fiduciary Accts 1855-58, p. 271). The occasion for the gift could have been the birth of William Marshall's oldest son in 1853, whom he named Daniel Boston Marshall. John William Marshall and wife "Purmelia" of Messongo Neck, sold 25 acres of "Daniel Boston Land in the neighborhood of Messongo" to Teagle R. Chase of the neighborhood of Muddy Creek, on 2 Sep 1872, for $500 (Acc Deeds 1872-74, p. 732). A 30 ft by 30 ft graveyard was excepted in the deed. William was listed with another family in the census of in 1850 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as Wm. Marshall, a 23 year old laborer in HH#982 headed by Daniel Boston, a 66 year old farmer with real estate valued at $600. Listed below Wm. were the following Marshalls: Pamelia, age 21; Oscar, age 9 and Elizabeth, age 1..⁴ William was living in 1854 at Messongo, Acc Co, VA.⁵ He was listed as a resident in the census report in 1860 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA.⁶ He married Mary A. Taylor, daughter of James B. Taylor, on 27 April 1887 at Temperanceville, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as William Marshall, a 58 year old widowed farmer, the son of Hennie Marshall and she was shown as Mary A. Smith, a 42 year old widow, the daughter of James B. Taylor. They were married by Montcalm Oldham..⁷

     On her daughter Matilda J. Marshall's marriage record of 1880, Pammelia Knight was shown as Cornelia A. Marshall. Pamelia was born circa 1829 at Accomack Co, VA.² She married William Marshall, son of Henny Marshall, on 27 January 1848 at Accomack Co, VA. James C. Johnson and Thomas D. Trader were the securities on the M.L.B. of William Marshall of Henry (Henny?) and Pamelia Knight of Elizabeth..¹ Pamelia was listed with her husband in the census of in 1850 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. She was shown as Pamelia Marshall, age 21 in HH#982 headed by Daniel Boston, a 66 year old farmer with real estate valued at $600. Also listed just above her was Wm. Marshall, a 23 year old laborer, who was evidently her husband..² She was listed as a resident in the census report in 1860 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA.³ Pamelia died on 10 May 1886 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. She was shown as Pamelia Marshall, who died on 10 Aug 1886 at the age of 30 years (the cause of death was not listed. She was the daughter of Wm. Knight (probably Dunreath), born in Acc Co, a housekeeper, and the wife of John W. Marshall who gave the information. Mrs. Amelia Marshall, wife of William Marshall, died of consumption on 10 May 1886, aged 54 years (Pen. Ent., 22 May 1886)..⁴

     Lorenzo was born circa 1837 at Accomack Co, VA.^3,4 Lorenzo was listed with his parents in the census of in 1850 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as Lorenzo D. Bell, age 13 in HH#454 headed by Jeodiah Bell, a 44 year old farmer..⁵ He married Drucilla Mears, daughter of Robert Mears and Ann 'Nancy' Stant, on 1 May 1860 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as Lorenzo D. Bell, a 22 year old oysterman, the son of Jodiah & Elizabeth Bell and she was shown as Drucilla Mears, age 23, the daughter of Robert & Nancy Mears. They were married at Pocomoke Church by E.W. Stickney. Raymond Stant said both were over age 21..² Lorenzo D. Bell was listed with his father-in-law in the census of 1860 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA.⁶

     Drucilla was born circa 1835 at Accomack Co, VA. The 1850 census puts her birth at 1835, her 1860 marriage puts it at 1837, her 1875 marriage puts it at 1835, but her tombstone shows 1830..^3,2,1 Drucilla was listed with her parents in the census of in 1850 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. She was shown as Drusilla Mears, age 15 in HH#854 headed by Robert Mears, a 52 year old miller..² She married Lorenzo D. Bell, son of Geodiah Bell and Elizabeth Kellam, on 1 May 1860 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as Lorenzo D. Bell, a 22 year old oysterman, the son of Jodiah & Elizabeth Bell and she was shown as Drucilla Mears, age 23, the daughter of Robert & Nancy Mears. They were married at Pocomoke Church by E.W. Stickney. Raymond Stant said both were over age 21..¹ Drucilla was listed with her husband in the census of in 1860 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. She was shown as Drucilla Bell, age 24 in HH#227 headed by Robert Mears, age 60. Also listed was Lorenzo Bell, a 23 year old sailor, who was evidently her husband..⁴ She married Peleg Hussey, son of Lemuel Hussey and Rebecca (-----), on 25 February 1875 at Messongo, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as Peleg Hussey, a 55 year old widowed blacksmith, born in Lincoln Co, ME and living in Acc Co, VA, the son of Lamuel & Rebecca Hussey and she was shown as Drucilla Bell, a 40 year old widow, born and living in Acc Co, VA, the daughter of Robt. & Nancy Mears. They were married by W.J. Twilley..¹ Drucilla died in 1912.³ Her body was interred at J.W. Taylor Cem, Temperanceville, Acc Co, VA.³

     Helen B. Marshall was raised by her father's sister, Nona (Marshall) Bundick. Miss Helen Marshall of Sanford and Jack Conaway, formerly of Pocomoke, were quietly married at Pocomoke on Saturday Evening, 24 Dec 1932. They will make their home at Annapolis, where he has a position (E.S. News, 6 Jan 1933). Helen was born on 8 May 1906 at Saxis Island, Acc Co, VA.² She was listed as a resident in the census report in 1910 at Saxis Island, Acc Co, VA.¹ She married John Henry Clay Conaway on 24 December 1932 at Pocomoke City, Worcester Co, MD.³ Helen died on 25 November 1967 at age 61.²

     Littleton was born on 25 December 1845 at Accomack Co, VA.² Littleton was listed with his mother in the census of in 1850 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as Littleton P. Hudson, age 4 in HH#976 headed by Comfort Hudson, age 36 with real estate valued at $400..³ Littleton was listed with his mother in the census of in 1860 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as Parker Trader, age 15 in HH#102 headed by Henry Trader, a 55 year old farmer. Also listed was Comfort Trader, age 50, who was evidently his mother..⁴ He married Sarah W. Stokes, daughter of William Stokes and Lavinia S. Stant, on 15 February 1866 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as Parker Trader, a 20 year old oysterman, the son of Comfort and she was shown as Sarah W. Stokes, age 16, the daughter of Wm. Stokes and Lavinia Taylor. They were married by G.W. Matthews..¹ Littleton was living at Sanford, Acc Co, VA. He was called L. Parker Trader in 1889 and Littleton P. Trader in 1895. He owned land in Sanford.. Littleton died on 12 July 1910 at age 64.²

     Joseph was born circa 1848 at Virginia.¹ He married Florence (-----) circa 1870.² Joseph was listed as a head of household in the census of in 1880 at Washington, DC. He was shown as Joseph C. Russell, age 32, born in VA, the head of household. Listed with him were the following Russells: wife Hattie R., age 33, born in MD; daughter Florence, age 7, born in DC; son Richardo, age 4, born in DC; and son Clinton, age 1, born in DC..¹

     Florence was born circa 1850. She married Joseph C. Russell circa 1870.¹

     William was born circa 1868 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ He married Anna E. 'Annie' Dennis, daughter of John W. Dennis Sr. and Eliza A. (-----), on 1 July 1906 at M. Parsonage, Sanford, Acc Co, VA.¹ William was living in 1906 at Wachapreague, Acc Co, VA.²

     Thomas was born circa 1838 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ He married Elizabeth C. Colonna, daughter of William Colonna and Sally Scott, on 29 October 1862 at Accomack Co, VA. They were married by Edward S. Grant. Thomas was age 24 and an oysterman and Elizabeth was age 21..¹

     Elizabeth was born circa 1841 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ She married Thomas J. Lewis, son of Daniel Lewis and Elizabeth Parks, on 29 October 1862 at Accomack Co, VA. They were married by Edward S. Grant. Thomas was age 24 and an oysterman and Elizabeth was age 21..¹

     Frank was born on 12 September 1868 at Accomack Co, VA.² Frank was listed with his parents in the census of in 1870 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as Frank Hinman, age 2 in HH#AT600 headed by George Hinman, a 44 year old oysterman..¹ He married Tremenda J. Miles, daughter of John P. Miles and Elizabeth J. Stant, on 19 January 1890 at Somerset Co, MD.³ Frank died on 13 December 1898 at age 30.² His body was interred at in Norman Bonawell's yard, east of Flagpond Road Norman Bonawell's yard, Sanfor, Acc Co, VA.⁴

     According to church records, Tremenda J. Miles, was a member of the Pocomoke Meth Ch, Grotons, Acc Co, VA, in 1898, 1900 and 1905. Tremenda was born on 28 April 1872 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ She married Frank A. Hinman, son of George W. Hinman Sr. and Julia A. Stant, on 19 January 1890 at Somerset Co, MD.² Tremenda was confirmed at age 27, on 20 August 1899 at Pocomoke Meth Ch, Grotons, Acc Co, VA.³ She married (-----) Ewell circa 1900.^4,5 Conflicting evidence states that she died on 27 May 1941.⁶ Tremenda died on 27 December 1941 at age 69.⁷ Her body was interred at in Norman Bonawell's yard, east of Flagpond Road Norman Bonawell's yard, Sanfor, Acc Co, VA.⁶

     James was born circa 1835 at Maryland.¹ He married Mary Alice Parker, daughter of George S. Parker and Rachel Savage, on 14 March 1870 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as James Landing, a 35 year old widowed miller, born in MD and living in Acc Co, VA and she was shown as Mary Alice Parker, age 22, the daughter of George S. & Rachel Parker. They were married by D.A. Woodson..¹

     Margaret was born circa 1902 at Virginia.¹ She was listed as a resident in the census report in 1910 at Saxis Island, Acc Co, VA.¹ Margaret was living in 1910 at Saxis Island, Acc Co, VA.¹

     Harvey was born in 1903.¹ Harvey was living in 1921 at New Church, Acc Co, VA.² He married Eunice Gladys 'Emma' Miles, daughter of Cornelius Tildon 'Neely' Miles and Mary Alice Marshall, on 26 November 1921 at Worcester Co, MD.² Harvey died in 1944.¹ His body was interred at Nelson's Cem, MD-VA line, Acc Co, VA.¹

     There is no absolute proof that George P. Bonnewell was the son of Peter Bonnewell and his wife Elizabeth Hall. However, Elizabeth made purchases at Peter's estate sale and was later listed as a head of household in the 1830 and 1840 census in Accomack Parish. In one of those census she showed a son of the right age to have been George P. Bonnewell, who would have been born the year before his father died. Also, all other possibilities have been eliminated. George was born circa 1823 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ He married Ellen Linton, daughter of William Linton and Triffany 'Triffy' Marshall, circa 1842.² George was named in a deed in on 1 December 1849 at Saxis Island, Acc Co, VA. On 1 Dec 1849 John H. Miles and wife Hannah and Rachel Linton and George Bonnewell and Ellen his wife sold to Stephen Linton, 30 acres on Sykes Island, bounded on the East by the free school land, on the West by the Pocomoke sound, on the South by Henry and Absolom Lewis and on the North by Zachariah Marshall (Acc Deeds 1849-1851, p. 122)..³ George was listed as a head of household in the census of in 1850 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as George P. Bonnewell, the head of HH#545. He was a 27 year old laborer with real estate valued at $275. Bonnewells listed with him were Ellen, age 33; William, age 7; George T., age 5; and Rachel A., age 3. His neighbors were Edward Anderton and Obed S. Bird..¹ He married Margaret Anna Linton, daughter of William Linton and Triffany 'Triffy' Marshall, on 17 February 1851 at Somerset Co, MD.⁴ George was living on 10 May 1854 at Pocomoke Neck, Acc Co, VA.⁵ George died in September 1859 at Accomack Co, VA. "Geo. P. Bonnawell" age 37, male and a sailor died in Sep 1859, cause supposed killed, or sudden sickness, Acc Co, VA (1860 Census, Schedule 3, persons died in 1860 census year)..⁶ Administration of George's estate was filed on 31 October 1859 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that Thomas A. Northam and John T. Fletcher were named to settle the estate of George P. Bonnewell. Henry L. Wessells and George D. Wise were the securities.⁷

     Ellen was born circa 1817 at Accomack Co, VA.² She married George Parker Bonnewell, son of Peter Bonnewell and Elizabeth S. 'Betsy' Hall, circa 1842.² Ellen sold land on 1 December 1849 at Saxis Island, Acc Co, VA. It was on this date that George Bonewell & wife Ellen, Rachel Linton & Jno. H. Miles & wife Hannah sold 30 acres on Sykes Island to Stephen Linton. She is assumed to have been a sister of Rachel Linton..¹ Ellen was listed with her husband in the census of in 1850 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. She was shown as Ellen Bonnewell, age 33 in HH#545 headed by George P. Bonnewell, a 27 year old laborer..³

     John was born in 1872 at Accomack Co, VA.^1,2 John was listed with his parents in the census of 1900 at Metompkin District, Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as Thomas Bloxom, age 25 in a HH headed by Myer Bloxom, age 53 and his wife Sally, age 47.² He married Adeline J. 'Lina' Gladding, daughter of Oliver James Gladding and Danvers Jane Marshall, on 6 December 1908 at Mappsville, Acc Co, VA.^1,3 John died circa 1909.

     Oliver was born on 12 February 1841 at Muddy Creek, Acc Co, VA.² Oliver was listed with his mother in the census of in 1850 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as Oliver J. Gladding, age 10 in HH#956 headed by Sally Gladding, age 39 with real estate valued at $700..¹ He was listed as a resident in the census report in 1860 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. In 1860 he was again with his mother Sally in Acc Parish HH#455..³ He married Danvers Jane Marshall, daughter of Stephen Marshall and Patience P. Drummond, on 25 March 1870 at Accomack Co, VA.⁴ Oliver died on 2 September 1922 at Mearsville, Acc Co, VA, at age 81.² His body was interred at Wessells Cem, Mears, Acc Co, VA.²

     Danvers was born on 4 June 1848 at Accomack Co, VA.² Danvers was listed with her parents in the census of in 1850 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. She was shown as Danvers J. Marshall, age 2 in HH#547 headed by Henry Marshall, a 78 year old farmer. Also listed was Stephen Marshall, a 41 year old farmer, who was her father..³ She was listed as a resident in the census report in 1860 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA.⁴ She married Oliver James Gladding, son of Solomon J. Gladding and Sarah 'Sally' Small, on 25 March 1870 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ Danvers died on 10 July 1925 at Accomack Co, VA, at age 77.²

     Mrs. Florence W. Crockett, wife of Mr. Wm. P. Crockett, of Saxis, died 14 Jun 1934, aged 38, survivors were listed (Pen. Ent., 16 Jun 1934). Florence was born in March 1896 at Smith Island, Som Co, MD. She married William Pulling Crockett, son of John S. Crockett and Rachel A. Linton, on 4 June 1911 at Saxis Island, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as a 23 year old oysterman, born in Acc Co, the son of John & Rachel A. Crockett and she was shown as age 16, born on Smith Island, MD, the daughter of Sever R. & Florence Stant..¹ Florence was confirmed at age at an unknown age , in March 1914 at Meth Ch, Saxis, Acc Co, VA.² Florence was on the in 1917 roll of the at Meth Ch, Saxis, Acc Co, VA.² She was listed as a resident in the census report in 1920 at Saxis Island, Acc Co, VA.³ Florence died on 14 June 1934 at age 38.⁴ Her body was interred at Ellis Cem, Saxis, Acc Co, VA.⁵

     In 1880 Severn Stant, age 30 and fishing and oystering, is listed in the Acc Co census along with Thomas Tyler, age 52 and a light keeper, and Alonzo Nelson, age 56 and an assistant light keeper. They were probably on Watts Island. Severn was born on 4 April 1852 at Smith Island, Acc Co, VA.² He was listed as a resident in the census report in 1860 at Acc Court House, St. George Parish, Acc Co, VA.³ Severn was listed with his parents in the census of in 1870 at St. George Parish, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as Severn Stant, a 14 year old oysterman in HH#LM1414 headed by Sam'l Stant, a 45 year old oysterman..⁴ He married Lovitha E. 'Lovie' Bradshaw, daughter of David A. Bradshaw and Sarah Ann 'Sally' Marshall, on 9 June 1875 at Chesconessex, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as a 21 year old sailor, the son of Samuel J. and Jane Stant, and she was age 19. They were married by R.C. Jones..⁵ Severn was on the in 1908 roll of the at Meth Ch, Saxis, Acc Co, VA.⁶ Severn was living after 1911 at Saxis Island, Acc Co, VA.⁶ Severn died on 22 May 1919 at age 67.² His body was interred at Ellis Cem, Saxis, Acc Co, VA.²

     Elwood was born on 13 January 1893 at Smith Island, Som Co, MD.¹ He married Lillian Lewis, daughter of Zadock William Lewis Sr. and Henrietta J. 'Etta' Evans, on 11 June 1913 at Lawsonia, Som Co, MD.² Elwood died on 30 December 1917 at age 24.¹ His body was interred at St. Peters Ch Cm, Hopewell, Somerset Co, MD.¹

     George was born in January 1870 at Accomack Co, VA.² He married Flora E. Crockett, daughter of John S. Crockett and Rachel A. Linton, on 2 October 1892 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ George was on the in 1898 roll of the at Meth Ch, Saxis, Acc Co, VA.³ He was listed as a resident in the census report in 1900 at Saxis Island, Acc Co, VA.² George was living in 1964.

     William was born circa 1838 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ He married Tabitha Martin, daughter of George Martin and Elizabeth Russell, on 5 December 1866 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as Wm. Shaw, a 28 year old sailor, born & living in Acc Co and she was shown as Tabitha Martin, age 18, also born & living in Acc Co, the daughter of Geo. & Eliz'th Martin. They were married by J.E. Bundick. Although this shows his birth and current residence as Acc Co, his birth location was probably not Acc Co, because there were no Shaws listed in Acc Census from 1840 thru 1860, nor in Northampton, Somerset or Worcester Counties in 1850..¹ William died on 6 January 1907 at Sanford, Acc Co, VA.²

     Mrs. Christine M. Bundick, widow of Edward T. Bundick, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Reginald Marshall of Messongo, on 4 Dec 1948, aged 70 years. She was the daughter of George and Margaret Bundick of Horntown. Survivors were listed (Pen. Ent., 10 Dec 1948). Christine was born on 1 March 1878 at Horntown, Acc Co, VA.¹ She married Thomas L. Mariner on 10 January 1891 at Worcester Co, MD.² She married Edward Thomas Bundick, son of John H. Bundick and Mary A. Nelson, circa 1920. Christine died on 4 December 1948 at Messongo, Acc Co, VA, at age 70.¹ Her body was interred at First Bapt Ch, Pocomoke City, Worcester Co, MD.

     Thomas Marshall of Sexes Island was listed on the Acc Co tax list of 1784. On 30 Jul 1800, Thomas Cropper brought a suit against Thomas Marshall, son of Samuel. Thomas was listed in the 1800 Census as being 16-26 (37), an obvious error, since there were 5 children in his household under age 16 and he was over 45 in 1810. He was about 37 in 1800. His wife was 26-45 (Elizabeth, 30), a daughter 10-16 (Adah, 15), 2 daughters under 10 (unidentified) and 2 sons under 10 (unidentified). In 1810 Thomas was listed between his brother Benjamin Marshall Sr. and his son Benjamin Marhsall Jr., as being over 45 (47). He then had only one male 16-26 (unidentified). His wife was still 26-45 (Elizabeth, 40), 2 daughters were 16-26 (unidentified) and 1 other daughter was 10-16 (unidentified). His daughter Adah married in 1802 and was out of the house in 1810. Therefore, there seems to be an extra female in Thomas's house in 1810. It could have been a daughter-in-law, niece, etc. Neither Thomas nor his wife Elizabeth were listed in the 1820 Census, indicating that either they both died between 1810 and 1820 or that Thomas died and Elizabeth remarried. From these census records, it is assumed that Thomas and his wife Elizabeth had 5 children, 2 sons born between 1790 and 1800, and 3 daughters, one born before 1790 and two between 1790 and 1800. One son and the two younger daughters were apparently unmarried in 1810. While there is no record positivily identifing the names of any of his children, Marshalls living in the Sanford/Messongo area in 1850, who cannot be connected to Thomas Marshall's brothers, are assumed to be Thomas' descendants. No record of the settling of his estate has been found, nor has a record been found of Thomas buying or selling land in Acc Co. He and his brother Benjamin were renting Sanford Charity land between 1800 and 1810 and since their names were together in the 1810 Census, separate from their brothers on Saxis Island, it appears they had moved to the mainland portion of the Eastern Shore by 1810. He was a witness to the will of Parker Miles of Saxis, who died testate in 1796, naming a daughter as Elizabeth Marshall. Thomas' brother Benjamin Marshall was security for the administration of Parker Miles' estate (Acc Orders 1796-1798, p. 145). Thomas was born circa 1763 at Accomack Co, VA. Mary's son Robert is later referred to as Robert Stephen Corbin, Jr., implying that was also his father's name. She is listed in the 1860 Census as "Elizabeth" Corbin and she is living with her father Parker Miles at Saxis in HH#372 and her children Stephen (7) and Mary E. (5) Corbin are listed with her. Her husband Stephen Corbin had died in 1858. Their son Robert (16) is living with Raymond Stant and his wife Sally, son George (9) is living with Mary's brother Jesse Miles and his wife Matilda, and son Lawson (11) is living with John Crockett. In the 1870 Census she is again living with her father, Parker Miles, but she is listed as "Mary Miles." In the 1880 Census she is still living with her father, Parker Miles, but is listed as "Elizabeth Corbin," widowed. Her obituary shows that she died at her home on "Sykes" Island on 16 Feb 1897, aged 77 years (Pen. Ent., 27 Feb 1897). James B. Corbin's research on the Corbin Family shows that Robert Corbin, husband of Elizabeth Miles (daughter of Parker Miles), was the son of Robert Corbin and Ann Elizabeth Tunnell and that another Stephen Corbin, husband of another Mary Miles, was the son of Covington Corbin and Sally Drummond. Mary was born circa 1826 at Saxis Island, Acc Co, VA.² She married Robert Stephen Corbin Sr., son of Robert Corbin and Elizabeth Ann 'Betsy' Tunnell, on 23 February 1844 at Accomack Co, VA. On 29 Mar 1858 Parker Miles was appointed to administer Robert Corbin's estate. Absolem Lewis and Gillet Marshall were securities (Acc Orders 1857-1860, p. 147). Parker Miles was his father-in-law and Absolem Lewis and Gillet Marshall were residents of Saxis Island. He married Mary Elizabeth Miles, daughter of Parker Miles (III) and Rosanna Marshall, on 23 February 1844 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as Capt. Stephen Corbin and she as Mary Miles. No other information was given..³ Robert was listed as a head of household in the census of in 1850 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. The 1860 census puts her birth at 1838, but her marriage record & obituary put it at 1831..² A through search of all branches of the Melson family of Accomack Co, VA and Somerset & Worcester Co, MD have not located her parents. Her1854 marriage record to Severn Parker Miles of Saxis Island, is the earliest record that could be found. It is therefore likely that she was either a daughter or granddaughter of George Melson (1770-1843) who was living closer to Saxis Island than any of the other Melson families. Since George had 3 daughters under age 10 in 1800 and an additional 3 daughters under age 10 in 1810, he probably had a total of 6 daughters. Hester Ann could have been an illegitmate daughter of either: Pamelia Melson (1810-1843) before her 1832 marriage to John S. Onley; or of Shady (1803-____) who was shown as Shady Hall, age 47, with John W. Melson in the 1850 census; or of William S. Melson (1811-1853) before his 1835 marriage to Sally Bloxom; or of John W. However, the 1850 census places her birth circa 1838 and the 1860 census circa 1837, which are believed to be more correct, especially considering her last child was born in 1883..⁴ This is the Millie that Kathryn (Drewer) Miles remembers talk of as one of her great-grandmother's, Eliza Jane's, sisters being referred to as "Aunt Millie" who was married to a Noah Smith from Smith Island, MD. Everett Miles also remembered talk of one of his grandfather's, Jesse's, sisters in the same way, as did Mrs. Lovie Marshall. As it turns out, she married second, a John Smith of Smith Island, and had a son Noah.

     Miranda J. Crockett, age 4, (b.c. 1856) was in the 1860 househould (#365) of John Spense and his wife was Ann. It is assumed that this is the Miranda J. Spence, who married Severn J. Miles in 1874 and listed her parents as Maria Spence. She would have been Maria's child before Maria married Robert Marshall in 1858. Her father, a Crockett, could have died before Maria's marriage to Robert Marshall. Since Maria is listed as single and not widowed at the time of her marriage to Robert Marshall, it is possible that Maria did not marry Miranda's father. If Miranda's father died before she was married, this would also explain why she did not list him as a parent when she was married. Her being the daughter of Maria is further proved by being listed in several of her 1/2 brother's obituaries: as "Amanda Miles" (w/o Severn J. Miles), a surviving (1/2) sister to William Marshall in his obituary of 1931 (Pen. Ent., 17 Oct 1931); as "Maud Miles" a surviving (1/2) sister to Samuel J. Marshall in his obituary of 1932 (Pen. Mr. Willie Trader died of a heart attack while walking to work along the Hammocks Road with a heavy chain on his shoulder. He always walked from his home in Sanford to the Hammocks Wharf where he kept his boat.
