Evidently, Elijah Linton was the deceased son of Nathan Linton Jr., for Nathan Linton Jr. named grandchildren, Elizah, Molly and Mickey B. Linton in his will of 1838. Elijah was born circa 1785 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ He married Fassett 'Fosset' Sterling, daughter of Littleton Sterling and Mary 'Molly' (-----), on 7 April 1812 at Accomack Co, VA. Nathaniel Linton and Stephen Linton were securities on the M.L.B. of Elijah Linton and Fosset Sterling..² Elijah sold land on 17 November 1813 at Saxis Island, Acc Co, VA. It was on this date that Elijah Linton & wife Foset sold 1/7 of 88 acres to Josiah Stearling for $100. It was on the south end of Sackes Island, bounded on the W & N by Pocomoke Sound, N & E by Absalom Lewis, and on the E & S by marsh of Thomas Fletcher. She was formerly Miss Margaret May Groton, daughter of John W. Groton, and he is the son Issac Wessells of Gargatha. They have 4 children (Pen. Ent., 16 Apr 1959). Mr. Ray W. Wessells Sr. of Hallwood, died on 14 Sep 1960, aged 77 years. He was the son of the late Isaac & Margaret Wessells, born at Gargatha, 29 Sep 1882. He married Miss Margaret Groton in 1909. Survivors were listed (Pen. Ent., 22 Sep 1960). Ray was born on 29 September 1882 at Gargatha, Acc Co, VA.² He married Margaret May Groten, daughter of John William Groten and Mary A.      Amaretta Jane Hutson/Trader's tombstone says she died in 1904 at 68, which would put her birth at 1836. In the 1850 Acc Census she was 12 (b.c. 1838) and in the 1870 Worcester Co Census she was 29 (b.c. 1841). In 1870 she was listed as "Jane Clark" a milliner of Newtown (now Pocomoke) and born in VA. Also in the same household was her mother, Comfort Trader, age 60 (b.c. 1810) also born in VA. Her 1871 Worcester Co marriage to Henry A. DeKay listed her as 31 (b.c. 1840). Amaretta was born circa 1838 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ Amaretta was named in her father's will on 30 March 1838 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as Amret Hutson in the will of William Trader. He did not name the relationship to anyone named in his will..² Amaretta was listed with her mother in the census of in 1850 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. She was shown as Amores J. Hutson/Trader's tombstones shows he died 14 Jul 1908 at age 70 years and 10 months, which places his birth at 1837. In 1860 he was 35 (b.c. 1825), his second marriage in 1869 showed him as 30 (b.c. 1839), in 1870 he was 39 (b.c. 1831), in 1880 he was 48 (b.c. 1832), his third marriage in 1894 showed him as 56 (b.c. 1838) and in 1900 he was 69 (b.c. 1831). He has not been found in the 1850 Census. He bought Parker Trader's land in 1865..^1,2 Samuel was named in his father's will on 30 March 1838 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as Samuel Hutson in the will of William Trader. He did not name the relationship to anyone named in his will..³ He married Elizabeth Jain Byrd, daughter of John W. Trader, a 56 year old widower, born in Virginia and she was shown as Maria E. Parsons, age 23 and single, born in Wicomico Co, MD. Their license was dated 24 Nov 1891 and the marriage took place on 25 Nov 1891 in Pocomoke City, MD (original Worcester Co marriage records). A handwritten note has also been found wherein Colwell P. Byrd and Mary A.E. Byrd signed as wittness to the marriage of Samuel Trader of Accomack County, Virginia and Maria Elisabith Parsons of Sussex County, Delaware in Pocomoke City, Maryland at the home of the witnesses by Rev. D.M. Lenox, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Pocomoke City on 25 Nov 1891. Evidently Mary A.E. Byrd, who was a Parsons, was Maria E. Parsons' aunt.⁶ He married Carrie F. Richardson on 24 February 1894 at Pocomoke City, Wor Co, MD.⁶ Samuel died on 14 July 1908 at age 77.¹ His body was interred at Trader Plot, Mappsville, Acc Co, VA. His tombstone shows him as Samuel C. Trader who died 14 Jul 1908 aged 77 years, 10 months and 14 days..¹

     Elizabeth was born on 27 June 1835 at Accomack Co, VA.² Elizabeth was listed with her parents in the census of in 1850 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. She was shown as Elizabeth Bird, age 15 in HH#1028 headed by John W. Bird Sr., a 44 year old farmer with real estate valued at $1,000..¹ She married Samuel C.      Leonard was born circa 1856 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ He was listed as a resident in the census report in 1860 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA.¹ Leonard died at youth.

     Pauthena was born on 2 August 1857 at Hallwood, Acc Co, VA.² She was listed as a resident in the census report in 1860 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA.¹ She married Ezra W.      Mrs. Crittie A. Trader, age 78 years and the wife of S.A. Trader, died on 29 Nov 1937 at her home at Hallwood. Funeral services were at the Hallwood Baptist Church on 1 Dec conducted by Rev. E.C. Wilmer, with interment at the Wessells Cemetery. She was survived by her husband, 1 daughter, 2 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild (E.S. News, 3 Dec 1937). Lucretia was born on 3 April 1859 at Accomack Co, VA.² She married Samuel Alfred Trader, son of Samuel C. Trader and Elizabeth Jain Byrd, in 1881 at Accomack Co, VA.³ Lucretia died on 29 November 1937 at Hallwood, Acc Co, VA, at age 78.⁴ Her body was interred at Wessells Cem, Mears, Acc Co, VA.²

     Emma was born on 3 January 1886 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ She married Thomas E. Smith on 23 December 1901 at Worcester Co, MD.² Emma was living on 14 August 1944 at Hallwood, Acc Co, VA. Emma died in 1982.³ Her body was interred at Groton's Cem, Hallwood, Acc Co, VA.³

     Thomas E. Smith shot Samuel C. Trader. Thomas was born in 1880.¹ He married Emma Trader, daughter of Samuel Alfred Trader and Lucretia Ann 'Crity' Kelly, on 23 December 1901 at Worcester Co, MD.² Thomas died in 1960.¹ His body was interred at Groton's Cem, Hallwood, Acc Co, VA.¹

     Rebecca was born in 1862 at Sanford, Acc Co, VA.² She married George T. Byrd, son of George Parker Byrd and Mary E. Mears, on 15 February 1885 at Mappsville, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as George T. Bird, a 34 year old farmer, the son of Geo. P. & Marry Bird and she was shown as Jane Trader, age 24, the daughter of Sam'l T. & Elizabeth Trader. They were married by W.A. Street. Miss Jane Trader and Mr. George T. Byrd's marriage notice was in the Pen. Ent. 21 Feb 1885..³ Rebecca died in October 1931 at Pocomoke City, Worcester Co, MD. Mrs. Rebecca J. Byrd, age 69 years, widow of George T. Byrd, and daughter of Samuel C. Trader, died at the home of her son, George Poulson Byrd, near Pocomoke City. Funeral services were held in Pocomoke on 2 Nov 1931. She was born in Sanford. Survivors were listed (E.S. News, 6 Nov 1931)..²

     Leonard was employed at as a Farmer/Merchant. Mr. Leonard Franklin Byrd of Mearsville died in Northampton Hospital on 20 Aug 1962, aged 72 years. He was the son of Daniel H. and Sallie Byrd, born at Mearsville on 1 Oct 1889. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church and was buried in the Wessells Cemetery. Survivors were listed (Pen. Ent., 23 Aug 1962). Leonard was born on 1 October 1889 at Mearsville, Acc Co, VA.¹ He married Mattie Vernette Wessells, daughter of Emory Jackson Wessells and Alice Lee Small, on 12 June 1910 at MD-VA Line, Wor Co, MD.² Leonard was living in 1939 at Mearsville, Acc Co, VA. Sarah was born on 27 May 1863 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ Conflicting evidence states that Sarah was born on 9 June 1864.² She married Daniel Harmanson Byrd, son of Obed S. Byrd and Hetty C. 'Kitty' Mears, on 7 January 1885 at Muddy Creek, Acc Co, VA.³ Sarah died on 22 April 1892 at Mearsville, Acc Co, VA, at age 28.⁴ Her body was interred at Byrd Cem, Dividing Rd, Mearsville, Acc Co, VA.²

     Daniel was employed at as a Waterman. Daniel H. Byrd was married to Miss Sallie Trader near Muddy Creek on 7 Jan 1885 by Rev. W.A. Street (Pen. Ent., 17 Jan 1885). Mr. Daniel H. Byrd, aged 79 years, died on 8 Mar 1939 at Mearsville. He was survived his wife, 1 daughter, 2 sons and 2 brothers, all of who were named, and 3 grandchildren, who were not named (Pen. Ent., 10 Mar 1939). Services were at Bethel Baptist Church on 8 Mar by Scott Hutten with interment at Groton's Cemetery. His death was on 6 Mar 1939. The grandchildren's names were listed (E.S.
