He was shown as John Townsend on a certificate granted to Mr. Deverox Browne for 4,750 acres for transporting persons into the colony.3 He married Faith (-----) circa 1675.1 John Townsend I bought land in 1676 at tract A125, south of Bloxom/Guilford, Accomack Co, VA. It was in this year that Griffith Savage Sr. sold 115 acres to John Townsend.4 He sold land in 1685 at tract A125, south of Bloxom/Guilford, Accomack Co, VA. It was in this year that John Townsen sold to John Read.4 He bought land in 1696 at tract A121, Modest Town, Accomack Co, VA. It was in this year that Daniel of St. Thomas and Elizabeth Jenifer sold 200 acres to John Townsend; it was north of the Bonnwell and Hewes parcels and extended out to the present main highway.5 He deeded land in 1702 at tract A121, Modest Town, Accomack Co, VA. James Townsend was born circa 1692 at Accomack Co, VA.1 James was named in his father's will on 11 February 1709/10 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as son James Townson in the will of John Townson, wife Faith.1 He bought land in 1712 at tract A147, near Temperanceville, Accomack Co, VA. It was in this year that John and Sarah Morris sold 150 acres to James Townsend, being the southeast corner of the whole tract.2 In 1730 in Accomack Court it was ordered that the Sheriff committ James Townsend to prison without bail and that all the Justices be sumoned to appear at the courthouse of this county on Tuesday next in order to try the said Townsend on a suspicion of being accesary to burning the prison of the said county. He was found not guilty.3 He sold land in 1732 at tract A147, near Temperanceville, Accomack Co, VA. It was in this year that James Townsend sold 100 acres to Charles Davis.2
