David Brown was born circa 1642 at Glasgow, Scotland.1 The earlist record of his name in Somerset is In April 1670 when he witnessed a bill of sale given by one James Davis to Randall Revell.1 He married Winifred (-----) before December 1672 at Somerset Co, MD.1 David was named in his brother-in-law's will on 7 January 1686/87 at Somerset Co, MD. He was shown as brother (brother-in-law) David Brown in the will of Archibald Ereskin, wife Janet.2 David made a will on 19 July 1697 at Somerset Co, MD. His handsome estate was divided among relatives and friends, with a gift of £100 sterling to Formour College of Glasgow as a Memorial and support of any of my relations to educated therein. His principal legatees were John Brown and Alexander Brown (though no relationship is mentioned in the will). He also leaves small sums to my sisters daughters Margaret and Mary Eriskin. To my sister Elizabeth. He also bequeathed 6,900 pounds of tobacco to the Civilized Poore of the county and also to them my town lands in this county.1 He died before 17 October 1697 at Somerset Co, MD. It was on this date that his will was probated.1 David was named in his nephew's will on 20 October 1707 at Somerset Co, MD. He was shown as my sister-in-law Mary Erskine's (now Mary Brown) uncle David Brown, now dec'd, in the will of Alexander Brown, wife Margaret.3
