     Sarah (-----) was born circa 1700 at Framingham, MA.¹ She married Robert Pepper, son of Jacob Pepper and Elizabeth Paine, circa 1720 at Framingham Co, DE.² As of circa 1720,her married name was Pepper.² Sarah (-----) died. The book shows she died 7 Nov 1683, which is obviously an error.¹

     Jacob Pepper was born on 28 July 1661 at Roxbury, MA.¹ He married Elizabeth Paine, daughter of Stephen Paine Jr. and Anne Chickering, on 10 February 1685 at Worcester, MA.² Jacob Pepper died on 10 April 1739 at Roxbury, MA, at age 77.¹

     Robert Pepper was born circa 1620 at England. He was born on 15 Feb, but the year is not certain.^1,2 He married Elizabeth Johnson, daughter of Capt. John Johnson and Mary Heath, on 16 March 1643.² Robert Pepper died on 7 July 1684 at Roxbury, MA.¹

     Elizabeth Johnson was born before 22 August 1619 at Great Amwell, England. It was on this date that she was baptized.¹ She married Robert Pepper on 16 March 1643.² As of circa 1655,her married name was Pepper.¹ Elizabeth Johnson died on 5 January 1683/84 at Roxbury, MA.¹

     Capt. John Johnson was born between 1590 and 1600 at England.¹ He married Mary Heath circa 1610.¹ Capt. John Johnson married Margaret Scudder after 15 May 1629 at England.¹ John Johnson was general of militia and surveyor general of the Massachusetts Colony, who came from England and arrived with wife Margery and children, probably with Governor Winthrop's fleet in 1630. He was named Extr to Governor Winthrop's will. He was Representative to the first General Court in 1634 and for the 15 years succeeding. He was a member of the Honorable Artillery Company in 1638, and its clerk from 1638 to 1640.² John Johnson was Deputy to First General Court in Mass., 1634; Representative and Captain 1653 - "Suveyor of All Ye Armes" - Surveyor General of the Massachusetts Colony.³ Capt. John Johnson died on 30 July 1659 at Roxbury, MA.⁴

     Sarah Warrington was born circa 1695 at Sussex Co, DE.² She married John Hill I circa 1712.¹ As of circa 1712,her married name was Hill. Sarah was named in her father's will on 4 February 1722/23 at Sussex Co, DE. She was shown as daughter Sarah Hill in the will of Stephen Warrington, wife Mary.² Sarah was named in her husband's will on 28 January 1725/26 at Sussex Co, DE. She was shown as wife Sarah Hill in the will of John Hill, Yeoman.³ As of circa 1727,her married name was Parker.⁴ She married George Parker circa 1727.⁴ Sarah Warrington sold land on 4 September 1759 at Angola Neck, Sussex Co, DE. It was on this date that George Parker and Sarah his wife of Sussex Co. for £40 quit claim unto John Hill of same place yeoman, all their right to 100 a. of land in Angola Neck w. end of a 660 a. which a certain John Hill (grandfather to the afsd John Hill) d. possessed of, who by his will devised the land to the afsd Sarah (his then wife) during her natural life.⁵ Sarah was named in her husband's will on 5 August 1765 at Worcester Co, MD. She was shown as wife Sarah and given 100 acres conveyed by Hill Cox and her thirds.⁶

     Sarah Prettyman was born circa 1765 at Sussex Co, MD.¹ She married David Marvel, son of Thomas Marvel and Elizabeth Huggins, on 5 January 1789.¹ As of 5 January 1789,her married name was Marvel.¹ Sarah was named in her father's will on 26 February 1790 at Sussex Co, DE. She was shown as daughter Sarah Marvel in the will of Thomas Prettyman, planter, wife Elizabeth.² As of circa 1797,her married name was Daizy.³ She married Moses Daizy circa 1797.³ Sarah Prettyman died in 1801.¹

     John Marvel Sr. was born on 4 August 1632 at Melbourn, Cambridgeshire, England.³ He was named as a headright on 10 May 1652 at Pungoteague Creek, Accomack Co, VA. He was shown on a patent to Charles Scarburgh.² He married Ann West circa 1667.² John Marvel Sr. gave a deposition on 24 November 1669 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as John Marvell, aged about 37 years. About six weeks ago, John Richards sold a house to Wm. Ebourne for a barren cow, 40 gallons of cider and 450 lbs tobacco, forgiving what Richards owned him. After making the bargin Rickards called for a gallon of cider and sugar; the next morning Rickards sold Ebourne his saddle for a gallon of cider and sugar.⁴ On 2 Oct 1693 in Accomack County Court John Marvill complained to justice of the peace Col. Charles Scarburgh "of an heinous riot and assault made on ye wife of ye said Marvill, perforce taking a child then in the custody and possession of ye said Marvill, the said persons being inhabitants of Maryland. By information to this court, ye persons committing the said riot were John Scofield, George Noble, Henry Scofield and Alexander Willson." Ordered that the sheriff take the above persons into his custody "wheresoever he may find them within his bailiwick" and detain them till they gave security for their appearance at the next court.⁵ John made a will on 29 July 1707 at Accomack Co, VA. To son Thomas Marvill. To Jonathan West. To Mrs Catherine West. Friend Mrs Matilda West residual legatee & Exec. Witt: Tully Robinson. John West, John Lewis.⁶ He died before 3 February 1707/8 at Accomack Co, VA.⁶

As of circa 1667,her married name was Marvel.² She married John Marvel Sr., son of Thomas Marvel and Mary Wright, circa 1667.² On 3 Dec 1684 in Accomack Co Court it was noted that the wife of John Marvill was nursing a bastard child "at the charge of the parish," and Marvill was to be paid 423 lbs tobacco as partial payment of what the parish owed him. (NOTE: She was evidently of child bearing age.).³ On 2 Oct 1693 in Accomack County Court John Marvill complained to justice of the peace Col.      Catherine Marvel was born circa 1680 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ As of circa 1700,her married name was West.^1,2 She married Jonathan (8) West I, son of Lt. Col. John (2) West and Matilda [13] Scarburgh (Quaker), circa 1700 at Accomack Co, VA.^1,2 Catherine was named in her father's will on 29 July 1707 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as Mrs. Catherine West in the will of John Marvill.² On 7 Mar 1709/1710 in Accomack County Court, the suit of Catherine West against Solomon Ewell was postponed till tomorrow.³ On 1 July 1712 in Accomack County Court it was recoreded that in a note dated 10 July 1710, in Virginia, Robt. Snead, directed that 5 pounds sterling be paid to Mrs. Catherine West within 30 days. The note was addressed to Mr. Micajah Perry and Company, merchants in London. It was presented to the court on 6 August 1712, by Charles Snead and ordered recorded. (NOTE: To be shown as "Mrs." she would have to have been married and the only other Mrs. Catherine West found was named in the will of John Marvill, as was Jonathan West and Mrs. Matilda West who was named Extr. So it is assumed that she was the daughter of John Marvill.).⁴

     Elizabeth Marvel was born in 1667 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ Her age was judged on 26 May 1679 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as Elizabeth Marvill, a servant girl of Tobias Selvy (Selby), whose age was judged to be 12 years old; she was ordered to serve accordingly.¹

     John Marvel Jr. was born circa 1674 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ He was bound out in 1682 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as John Marvell Jr., second son of John Marvell, when he was bound by his father to William Jarman until the age of 21.¹ He bought land in 1682 at tract A109, south of Guilford, Accomack Co, VA. It was in this year that William and Dorothy Darman sold 100 acres to John Marvell Jr. It was in the area of Timber Creek, Little Back Creek, and French or France Creek. The marshes were called Marvell's Islands. Originally, Little Back Creek was called Marvells's Creek or My Lord Marvell's Back Creek, which later became the south fork of Muddy Creek. (NOTE: According to Somerset Sampler, the 100 acres was in exchange for his being bound to Jarman until the age of 21.).² He deeded land in 1695 at tract A109, south of Guilford, Accomack Co, VA. It was in this year that John Marvell Jr. traded his 100 acres to Samuel Young for 100 acres of Young's plantation, which John conveyed later the same year to his parents, John and Ann, for their lifetimes ("the land whereon they now live"). Two months later he sold the same land to William Hudson.¹ He sold land on 6 October 1697 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that John Marvill Jr. appeared at court and presented a deed of land sold to William Hudson and it was ordered to be recorded. According to Somerset Sampler he added "on which hundred acres of land John Marbell Sr. now dwelleth. Another deed of 5 Mar 1699/1700 indicates that John Sr. was still living there.^3,1 In June 1698 William Jarman made a statement explaining status of the land he sold to John Marvel Jr. in 1682, saying he was fully satisfied with fulfillment of deed's provisions.¹ He patented land on 10 October 1708 at Marvells Chance, Dames Quarter, Somerset Co, MD. It had been surveyed for him 2 Apr 1705, by assignment from Ephraim Poalke out of a large tract granted to Poalke 2 weeks earlier. No evidence has been found that Marvells Chance was ever sold or passed on by inheritance.¹

     Martha 'Patty' Cathell was born on 21 March 1798 at Worcester Co, MD.¹ As of 7 January 1818,her married name was Hearne.¹ She married George Hearne, son of Lowther 'Lowder' Hearne and Lavinia Cannon, on 7 January 1818.¹ Martha 'Patty' Cathell died on 19 March 1840 at age 41.¹

     George Hearne was born on 3 July 1783 at Delaware.¹ He married Martha 'Patty' Cathell, daughter of Levi Cathell Sr. and Rebecca Porter, on 7 January 1818.¹ George Hearne died on 6 December 1845 at age 62.^1,2

     Levi Cathell Sr. was born on 18 September 1754 at Worcester Co, MD.¹ Levi was named in his father's will on 11 October 1764 at Worcester Co, MD.³ He married Rebecca Porter, daughter of William Porter and Ann Dashiell Stewart, on 21 March 1777 at Worcester Co, MD.¹ Levi Cathell Sr. sold land on 1 April 1782 at Safeguard, Worcester Co, MD. Levi Cathell & wife Rebecca Cathell sold 91 1/4 acres to Jonathan Riggin for 5 shillings.⁴ Levi was named in his mother's will on 17 December 1784 at Worcester Co, MD.⁵ He married Priscilla Downs on 4 February 1805.¹ Levi Cathell Sr. died on 26 November 1815 at Worcester Co, MD, at age 61.¹

     Rebecca Porter was born on 27 March 1759.¹ She married Levi Cathell Sr., son of David Cathell and Elizabeth Webb, on 21 March 1777 at Worcester Co, MD.¹ As of 21 March 1777,her married name was Cathell.¹ Rebecca Porter sold land on 1 April 1782 at Safeguard, Worcester Co, MD. Levi Cathell & wife Rebecca Cathell sold 91 1/4 acres to Jonathan Riggin for 5 shillings.³ She died on 27 August 1803 at age 44.¹

     Priscilla Downs was born on 28 May 1759.¹ As of 4 February 1805,her married name was Cathell.¹ She married Levi Cathell Sr., son of David Cathell and Elizabeth Webb, on 4 February 1805.¹ Priscilla Downs died on 13 April 1814 at age 54.¹

     Rebecca Dashiell was born in 1714 at Somerset Co, MD.² She married Alexander Stewart between 1733 and 1734 at Stepney Parish, Somerset Co, MD.² As of between 1733 and 1734,her married name was Stewart.¹ Rebecca was named as administrator of an estate on 22 August 1744 at Somerset Co, MD. It was on this date that the account of the estate of Alexander Stewart was presented by Rebecca Stewart. Paid to widows 1/3rds. To Elizabeth Handy, oprhan of Ebenezer Handy and to John Handy. To children Sarah King Stewart, Polly, John, William & Anne.³ She married George Dashiell Sr. circa 1750.⁴ Rebecca made a will on 24 December 1768 at Somerset Co, MD.⁴ She died on 3 May 1769 at Stepney Parish, Somerset Co, MD.²
