Thomas ffowkes & Joane his wife were shown on a certificate granted to Capt. Wm. Michell for 500 acres for transporting 10 persons into this country.¹

     Ann Miles was born circa 1645. She was named as a headright on 18 September 1666 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as Ann Miles on a certificated granted to Mr. Jno. Robins for 1,800 acres for transporting persons into the colony. (NOTE: This seems to be too early from her to be the wife of Roger Miles.).¹

     Sarah Roach was born circa 1698 at Annamessex, Somerset Co, MD.² She married Daniel Fooks, son of Thomas Fooks (Quaker) and (-----) (-----), circa 1720. As of circa 1720,her married name was Fooks. Sarah witnessed a will on 1 November 1723 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that William Black, Daniel Fookes & Sarah Fookes witnessed the will of Col. Tully Robinson, wife no name.³ Sarah was named in her father's will on 26 October 1725 at Somerset Co, MD. She was shown as Sarah Fookes in the will of John Roach, wife Alis.²

     Thomas Fooks (Gent. & Chirugeon) was born circa 1650. He married Sarah Dorrington, daughter of William Dorrington Gent. and Anne Johnson (widow), before 31 October 1677 at Dorchester Co, MD. It was on this date that "came Sarah Foulkes of Dorchester County by her husband Thomas Fowkes & shewed to the Judge here that Thomas Fisher of the same county her late husband dyed intestate, therefore prayed that adion of all & singular the goods and chattels and debts of the said deceased may unto her be committed." On 2 May 1680 William Dorrington of Dorchester County Gent. was firmly bound to Thomas Foulks of the said County, Chirurgeon, in the full and just sum of 14,000 pounds of tobacco to be payed in Hapfaur River of Dorchester County that 7,000 pounds of tobacco be payed by 10 Nov 1682. (NOTE: The Thomas Fowkes, Quaker, of Accomack Co, VA, lived on Onancock River and was on the tax list there every year from 1674 to 1695 was never referred to in Accomack County records as a Chirurgeon, and was never referred to as living in Dorchester County. Herbert C. Fooks made an error is assuming the Thomas Foulks of Dorchesther County, MD was the same person as Thomas Fowkes of Accomack County, VA. Roy Foulkes questioned if they were the same person, but left it unresolved. The Thomas Foulks of Dorchester had a son Nicholas and a daughter Margaret for whom he patented land in Dorchester County in 1681 and it was evidently Nicholas' son John who was shown in the Debt Book in 1734 as owning both tracts patented in Nicholas and Margaret's names. The Thomas Fowkes of Accomack made no mention of these children or this grandson in his will.).^2,3 Thomas Fooks (Gent. & Chirugeon) patented land on 28 April 1682 at ffoulkes Content, Dorchester Co, MD. It was on the south side of the Great Choptank River, part of 205 acres originally assigned by Lord Baltimore to John Gooty, then to James Pattison, reasigned to Thomas ffoulkes. This tract borders land owned by William Dorrington.⁴ He sold land on 28 November 1683 at tract Delight, Dorchester Co, MD. It was on this date that Thomas ffoulks sold the tract Delight to John Baker and the tract Content on 2 June 1684 to William Watson. Then in 1734, 50 years later, this tract was called Ill-Favourd Comb was being charged to John Foulks, apparently a grandson of Thomas.⁵ He sold land on 2 June 1684 at ffoulkes Content, Dorchester Co, MD. It was on this date that Thomas ffoulkes, chirurgeon, of Dorchester Co, for 4,000 pounds of casque tobacco sells to William Watson 100 acre tract ffoulkes Content on south side of Great Choptank River, adjoining William Dorrington and Thomas Fisher.⁵

     (-----) (-----) was born circa 1650. As of circa 1667,her married name was Fooks. She married Thomas Fooks (Quaker), son of James Fooks Jr. (Accomack) and (-----) (-----), circa 1667. Herbert C. Fooks reported that Thomas Fowkes, Quaker, of Accomack Co, VA married Sarah Dorrington of Dorchester Co, MD, the daughter of William Dorrington. He was shown as William Bosman on a certificate granted to Ralph Barlowe.³ He married Bridget Panter (Panter?), daughter of (-----) Panter (f/o Bridget & John), circa 1650 at Northampton Co, VA.³ William 'Will' Bozman married Ellinor 'Ellen' White, daughter of Ensign Lewis White and Kathryne (-----), on 15 February 1660/61 at Hungars Parish, Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as William Bosman.¹ William witnessed a will on 13 January 1661/62 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that William Bosman and Thomas Walley witnessed the will of John Robinson, wife Mary.⁴ He bought land in 1663 at tract N111, Silver Beach, Northampton Co, VA. It was in this year that by an unrecorded deed, that Stephen Charlton sold 200 aces to William Bosman, and William Major, son of John, now assigned the original patent to Bosman. For a long tim the gut between this land and N110 was called Bosman's Gut. Will and Ellen Bosman reassigned to John Tilney and Willam Major gave him a release for any interest he might have.² He died before 5 August 1664 at Somerset Co, MD. He named a wife Ellinor, Extr, sons John, William and George (all to receive land at age 17), daughters Mary, Catharine, Bridgett (under age 15) and Ann (under age 15), and overseers Capt.
