Joseph Nottingham was the security on the M.L.B. of Joshua Nottingham and Mary Bearcraft.² Joshua was listed as a head of household in the census of 1850 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as Joshua Nottingham the head of household 249, a 55 year old millier. Listed with him were the following Nottinghams: Mary, age 35; Mary, age 18; Elizabeth, age 12; & Sally, age 3.³ He died before 15 April 1852 at Northampton Co, VA. In a letter of 15 Apr 1852, Robert T. Wilson, Hern Cliffs, Capeville, N'hamp Co, VA to A.C. Garrett, Williamsburg, he noted that 'Poor Joshua Nottingham died last week. He caught cold by hauling seine, which brought on pneumonia.¹'

     Mary Bearcraft was born circa 1815.¹ As of 16 January 1817,her married name was Nottingham.¹ She married Joshua Nottingham on 16 January 1817 at Northampton Co, VA. Joseph Nottingham was the security on the M.L.B. of Joshua Nottingham and Mary Bearcraft.¹

     John Smaw III was born circa 1720 at Northampton Co, VA. John was named in his father's will on 25 March 1735 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as son John (under 18) in the will of Andrew Smaw, planter, wife Elishe.¹ He inherited land in 1735 at tract N45, Chesapeake, N'hamp Co, VA. It was in this year that Andrew Smaw left the 100 acres of tract N45 between Eastville and Cherition on the Sea Side of the highway to wife Elishe and then to a son John under entail.² He was on the list of tithables at Northampton Co, VA, in 1740. He was shown as Jno Smaw, listed under Jno Nelson, on Digby Semour's list. Evidently this was the John Nelson who had married his mother Elishe.³ He was on the list of tithables at Northampton Co, VA, in 1741. He was shown as Jno Smaw, listed under Jno Nelson, on Digby Semour's list. Evidently this was the John Nelson who had married his mother Elishe.⁴ John was named as an appraiser of an estate on 18 March 1742 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that Peter Norly Ellegood, John Smaw, Hillary Stringer & William Bishop were named to appraise the estate of Thomas Cowdry.⁵ He married Joanna Edmunds, daughter of David Edmunds and (-----) (-----), circa 1746.² John was named as an appraiser of an estate on 13 June 1749 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that William Scott, Henry Smaw, Edward Robins & John Wilkins were named to appraise the estate of Cantwell Carrison.⁶ In Dec 1751 in N'hamp Co is was noted that the estate of Edbn Wimbrough dec'd & deft was in the hands of John Smaw. He later appeared and declared that he had 6 barrels & 1 bushel of indian corn of the estate of the deft.⁷ He served on a jury on 11 December 1751 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that John Ellegood, Jacob Pitts, John Smaw & Levin Evans were named to appraise the estate of John Nelson, Elishe Nelson Admrx. (NOTE: Elishe was John Smaw's mother by her first marriage to Andrew Smaw.).¹⁰ In Sep 1754, Frances Wilkins, infant under 21 years (by John Smaw, her next friend and guardian), one of the daughters of Jonathan Wilkins, late of N'hamp Co, shows that her father at the time of his death was possed of several slaves which descended to Frances and her sisters Rachel and Joanna, all under age. Frances, after the death of her mother, chose John Smaw as her guardian.¹¹ He bought land on 13 April 1756 at Northampton Co, VA. Mark Freshwater & wife Elishe of N'hamp Co sell to John Smaw of N'hamp Co for 6 pound 10 shillings the one third part of a tract of land containing 100 acres, which is the said Elishe's right of dower, bounded westerly by land of Littleton Eyre, which he purchased of William Jacob, southerly by Littleton Wilkins, easterly by Kendall Harmanson dec'd, and northerly by George Kendall dec'd, which land was devised to John Smaw by Alexander Smaw his dec'd father's last will & testament, recorded in N'hamp Co. Witt: None.¹² In Dec 1756 Daniel Weeks, Free Negro, petitions against John Smaw for assault and battery.¹³ In Feb 1758 in N'hamp Co Laban Stott, guardian of Archibald Roberts, orphan, sues John Smaw for damage of £40. Case agreed.¹⁴ In Aug 1758 in N'hamp Co, a case involving the division of the estate of Thomas Edmunds is brought by William Heth Jr and James Heth (son of William) infants by William Heth, their next friend (guardian) and by Elishe and Thomas Smaw, infants by John Smaw, the next friend (guardian) and by John Wilson Jr., infant against Sarah Edmunds, Extr of the said Thomas. The said Thomas died leaving a will (probate 14 Dec 1756) naming legacies to the above orators & oratrixes and also to Southy Edmunds who died intestate in the lifetime of the said Thomas, underage, without issue.¹⁵ He served on a jury in July 1759 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as John (X) Smaw.¹⁶ John was named as an appraiser of an estate on 8 January 1760 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that Custis Kendall, John Smaw and Abel Savage were named to appraise the estate of James Powell.¹⁷ John was named as an appraiser of an estate on 10 January 1764 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that William Wilkins, Nathaniel Tyson, John Smaw & John Evans were named to appraise the estate of Reubin Davis.¹⁸ He sold land on 11 September 1764 at tract N45, Chesapeake, N'hamp Co, VA. According to Whitelaw John Smaw had the entail docked and the land surveyed on the land his father left him, when 144 acres were found. He and his wife Joanna sold the excess 44 acres to William Wilkins and 25 acres to Jacob Nottingham. In 1768 Jacob and Mary Freshwater, Southy Nelson, John Kemp and John & Joanna Smaw untied in a deed to William Wilkins for 18 1/2 acres saying it was a part of the land which had been sold by Smaw by a General Court deed. Later in the year they sold him 43 acres more. ORIGINAL RECORD: John Smaw & Joanna Smaw his wife of N'hamp Co sell to William Wilkins Junr of N'hamp Co. Whereas Andrew Smaw dec'd of N'hamp Co was seized of a plantation containing 100 acres in N'hamp Co and in his will of 25 Mar 1735 recorded in N'hamp Co he devised it to his wife Elishe Smaw while she lived his widow and at the day of her marriage or death to his son John Smaw, party to these presents. And by the death of the said Elishe Smaw the said John Smaw is seized and possessed of the land as tenant in fee tail and whereas by an inquisition dated 23 August last past, by virtue of the writ of our Lord the King in the nature of an 'Add Quod Domnum' dated 15 Jul in the present year sued out from the Secretary's Office of this Colony and it appears by survey made in presence of the jury that 140 acres of land are contained within the bounds of the 100 acres above, and that it value is 197 pounds 8 shillings money of Great Britain. The same are a separate parcel and not a parcel of or contiguous to other Entailed Lands in the possession and seizer of the said John Smaw as recorded in the Secretary's Office. John Smaw & wife Joanna now sell for 99 pounds to William Wilkins the 44 acres bounded easterly by John Harmanson orphan, southerly by the remaining part of the said land of John Smaw, westerly & northerly by William Wilkins. It was on this date that John (X) Smaw and Joanna (X) Smaw witnessed the will of John Wilkins Watts, wife Rachel.²⁰ He sold land on 8 October 1765 at Northampton Co, VA. John Smaw & Joanna his wife of N'hamp Co sell to Jacob Nottingham of N'hamp Co for 70 pounds 25 acres of land which is already conveyed by Smaw to Nottingham by a deed recorded in the General Court. He was shown as son John Smaw in the will of Elishe Freshwater.²⁵ On 13 Jan 1773 in N'hamp County John Smaw sells to William Biggs, William Wilkins and Luke Griffeth one Negro man named Abel, all my crop of corn, oats, wheat, tobacco and flax that I make this present year on the place of Berry Joynes and 16 head of cattle, 3 head of horses named Diamond, Beech & Toney, 4 beds and furniture and … my other household furniture, my hogs, sheep and all my other estate of whatsoever sort or quality. It was on this date that a certificate from John Smaw, a Sergeant in the 1st Virginia Regiment, for a boat pressed of Caleb Smith & William Cobb, was allowed £20.²⁷

     Henry Smaw II was born circa 1724 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Henry was named in his father's will on 25 March 1735 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as son Henry (under 18) in the will of Andrew Smaw, planter, wife Elishe.¹ He was on the list of tithables at Northampton Co, VA, on 10 June 1744. He was shown as Henry Smaw Jur, listed below John Nelson, on P. Norley Ellegood's list. John Nelson was evidently his step-father, having married his mother Elishe.² Henry was named as an appraiser of an estate on 14 April 1747 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that William Burton, Edward Robins, Henry Smaw & William Scott were named to appraise the estate of Jonathan Wilkins, wife Susanna.³ Henry was named as an appraiser of an estate on 13 February 1749 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date George Kendall, Kendall Harmanson, John Smaw & James Biggs were named to appraise the estate of John Johnson.⁴ He was security on the administration of an estate on 11 July 1749 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that Henry Smaw posted a bond of £20 to secure the estate of Esther Milion.⁸ Henry was named as an appraiser of an estate on 10 December 1751 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that John Wilkins, Henry Smaw, James Floyd & Mark Freshwater were named to appraise the estate of David Dunnagan.⁹ He was security on the administration of an estate on 10 December 1751 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that Henry Smaw posted a bond of £50 to secure the estate of Edward White.¹⁰ Henry was named as administrator of an estate on 10 December 1751 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of John Millard was granted to Henry Smaw.¹¹ Henry was named as administrator of an estate on 9 June 1752 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that John Wilkins Sr., Henry Smaw, Benjamin Scott & Peter Warren were named to appraise the estate of Thomas Ward Ellegood.¹⁴ Henry was named in his mother's will on 15 February 1769 at Northampton Co, VA.      Caleb Smaw was born circa 1734 at Northampton Co, VA.³ Caleb was named in his father's will on 25 March 1735 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as son Caleb (under 18) in the will of Andrew Smaw, planter, wife Elishe.³

     Henry Smaw I was born in 1708 at Northampton Co, VA. He was evidently born after 12 May 1707 as he was not named in his grandmother's deed of gift of this date. He first appeared on the tithable list in 1724, having turned 16, would put his birth circa 1708.^3,4 He was on the list of tithables at Northampton Co, VA, on 10 June 1724. He was shown as Henry Smaw, listed under John Smaw who had 4 tithes on Jacob Stringer's list. (NOTE: Since this was the first time he appeared on the tithable list, he had evidently just turned 16, which would put his birth circa 1708.⁴ He was on the list of tithables at Northampton Co, VA, in 1729. He was shown as Henry Smaw on John Robins list. Thomas Thorman was listed under him.⁵ He was named in the settlement of his father's estate on 14 January 1728/29 at Northampton Co, VA. In obedience to an order of the Court of N'hamp Co dated 14 Jan 1728, we the subscribers have appraised & divided the estate of John Smaw dec'd as under. Mark Freshwater Part (no mention of a wife) - various household items, farm animals & 1 old Bible, total value: £27.3.8. Andrew Smaw Part - various household items, farm animals, etc., total value: £27.3.7. Henry Smaw Part - various household items, farm animals & 1 old Bible, total value: £27.3.8. Luke Smaw Part - various household items, farm animals, etc., but no total value shown.² He married Mary Guy, daughter of (f/o Major, Rose & others) Guy and (-----) Major, circa 1730 at Northampton Co, VA.⁶ Henry Smaw I was on the list of tithables at Northampton Co, VA, in 1730. He was shown as Henry Smaw listed under Mark Freshwater. Also listed was Thomas Thorman.⁷ In his will of 18 Apr 1734 George Harmanson left his daughter Bridget Harmanson the 300 acre plantation whereon my son Argill lately lived on the sea side called Broad Creek and now in the possession of Henry Smaw.⁸ Henry witnessed a will on 25 March 1735 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that John Ellegood, Henry Smaw & Edward Poyner witnessed the will of Andrew Smaw, planter, wife Elishe.¹ He was on the list of tithables at Northampton Co, VA, on 10 June 1738. He was shown as Henry Smaw on Hillary Stringer's list. Listed below him was John Respess and Jenny, Negro.⁹ He was on the list of tithables at Northampton Co, VA, in 1740. He was shown as Henry Smaw on John Custis' list. Listed below him was Jenny.¹⁰ He was on the list of tithables at Northampton Co, VA, in 1742. He was shown as Henry Smaw on Capt. Ralph Pigot's list. Listed with him were Jemmmy & Jennah, Negroes.¹¹ Henry was named in his brother-in-law's will on 25 March 1745 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as my brother (meaning brother-in-law) Henry Smaw in the will of Major Guy, merchant. He was given the tuition of my sons Henry and John until Henry is of lawful age. He was also named Extr. He also named a sister Mary Smaw, who was evidently the wife of this Henry Smaw.⁶ He bought land in 1745 at tract N49, Eastville, N'hamp Co, VA. It was in this year that James Delpech sold 112 acres to Henry Smaw, as executor for the estate of Major Guy, stating that it was the land he had bought from Thomas & Esther Cowdrey. As the land had been entailed the Cowdreys probably had the entail docked and then sold to Delpech by a General Court deed. Again there is no local record of a disposition by the estate of Major Guy, or any of his heirs, but soon after the above date Griffin Stith was owner of the land.¹² In Mar 1752/53 in N'hamp Co John Wilson, the Elder informs the Court that Henry Smaw late of the county in Jan of 1750 without a license or allowance of the Justices did keep a common tipling house. He did publically sell rum and water mixed, called Punch or Bimbo as well as small quantities of rum. All of which is against the form of the Statutes lately made.¹³ In Oct 1753 Henry Smaw sues Nathan Hanby 1751-53 primarily for purchases of year goods.¹⁴

     Andrew Smaw I was born circa 1635. He was named as a headright on 1 November 1659 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as Andrew Smaw on a certificate for 300 acres granted to Capt. Wm Andrews for transporting 6 persons into this country.² He married Anne (-----) circa 1665.¹ Andrew Smaw I was on the list of tithables at Northampton Co, VA, on 9 September 1667. He was shown as Andrew Smaw with 1 tith.³ He served on a jury on 28 January 1667/68 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as Mr. Andrew Smaw.⁴ He was on the list of tithables at Northampton Co, VA, on 28 August 1668. Kendalls list.⁸ At a court held in N'hamp County on 31 Mar 1674 in a suite between Jno Tankard plts vs Charles Holden defts, it was recorded that in the difference depending between Jno Towersey & Frances his wife, plfs and Andrew Smaw & Anne his wife defts, the court finds no cause of action.⁹ He served on a jury on 5 November 1674 at Northampton Co, VA. Waters' list.^11,12 He served on a jury on 30 November 1675 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as Andrew Small.¹³ He was on the list of tithables at Northampton Co, VA, in 1676. He was shown as Andrew Smaw with 3 tiths: himself, Tho. Vines & Robt. Lowe on Col. Jno Custis' list.¹⁴ He was on the list of tithables at Northampton Co, VA, in 1677. He was shown as Andrew Small with 1 tith on Col. Wm. Kendall's list.^15,16 On 2 Jun 1679 it was recorded in N'hamp Co Court: Whereas Tom, a Negro slave to Mr. Hancock Lee, was complained of to the court by Andrew Smaw for killing off some of his hogs unlawfully. Fresh pork singed being found in his custody and no way satisfying the court how he came by it. It is there fore ordered by the court that the sheriff take the said Negro Tom into his custody and see that he forthwith have given him thiry lashes well laid on his bareback as just reward for his said offence, unless he will truly own and confess where and how he came by the said meat.¹⁷ On 28 Jul 1680 J. Jno Fathery of N'hamp Co for 500 pounds of Virginia tobacco and a few yards old ---- to him paid by Andrew Smaw of N'hamp Co, assigned a girl named Rachel, daughter of Alice Berggins, to serve the said Andrew Small . . . a reference to Jno Fathery dec'd. (NOTE: The document is very hard to read and much is left out here.) Signed by John 'V.F.' Fathery.¹⁸ On 20 Aug 1681 in N'hamp County Walter Mathews named my friends Andrew Smaw and his wife and William Jarvis to oversee my estate until my wife'd return. Capt. John Robins & Capt. Hancock Lee were witnesses.¹⁹ Andrew was named as an appraiser of an estate on 30 November 1683 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that Mr. Nathaniel Wilkins and Andrew Smaw were appointed by the court at the request of Capt Robins, to appraise the remainder of the estate of Col. Obedience Robins dec'd in room of Capt. Nath'l Walter and William Nicholls dec'd.²⁰ He served on a jury on 1 July 1684 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as Mr. Andrew Small.²¹ He bought land on 25 August 1684 at tract N45, Chesapeake, N'hamp Co, VA. William Andrews late of N'hamp Co & now of Accomack Co sells for 6,500 pounds of tobacco & cask to Andrew Smaw of N'hamp Co, planter, one parcel of land whereon John Watts now dwells lying & going at the head of Otterdam Branch in N'hamp Co containing 100 acres of land bounded easterly by Mr. Thomas Harmanson, southerly by Capt. John Robins, northerly by a part of land from said Wm. Andrews to Wm Cripps, bricklayer & northerly by another grant to Simon Thomas as by marked trees, said land is part of a dividend granted by George Ebolin, dec'd in exchange of other land. Witt: Wm Custis, Martha Brown & (-----). Signed: Wm. Andrews. Comfort Andrews, lawful wife of Wm Andrews, freely & voluntarily gave consent. Signed: Comfort (her X mark) Andrews. According to Whitelaw, William Andrews sold the final 100 acres of tract N45, which is between Eastville and Chertion on the Sea Side of the highway, to Andrew Smaw. In 1688 Smaw, wife Ann, left to sons John and Andrew but the former died without issue. In 1735 Andrew Smaw left the 100 acres to wife Elishe and then to a son John under entail. (NOTE: It was probably John's son Andrew who left the 100 aces to wife Elishe, not the elder brother Andrew.).^22,23 Ann Morgan wife of David Morgan of N'hamp Co with consent of her said husband has agreed that her child named Alice Guimdll(sp?) aged 3 years old shall serve said Andrew Smaw of N'hamp Co, planter, in lawful employment until she attains age 18. Signed: Ann (her X mark) Morgan & David (his DM mark) Morgan.²⁴ On 30 Sep 1684 in N'hamp Co Court - Whereas it appeared to the court by the oath of Andrew Smaw that in June before Wm. Nicholls died he reconed with him and was oweing him in tobacco no more then 51 pounds to balance and 18 pounds for a tobacco box in all 69 pounds of tobacco and it also appearing to the court that there was 10 gallons of malosses lent by the said Smaw to the said Nicholls. The trustees of Nicholls' estate were to pay Smaw the malosses in kind or 250 pounds of tobacco and cask out of the said estate discounting the said 69 pounds of tobacco and for the hog which Andrew Smaw demands, was referred to the next court. On 28 July 1685 in the settlement of the estate of William Nicholls, Andrew Small was paid 181 (assumed pounds of tobacco) and evidently paid the estate 240 (assumed pounds of tobacco).²⁵ Andrew was named as an heir on 29 October 1685 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that William Kendall Sr., merhant, named Andrew, the son of Andrew Small and Anne his wife, and gave him one heifer. He also named a son-in-law Hancock Lee Gent.²⁶ He served on a jury on 31 August 1686 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as Andrew Smaw.²⁷ Andrew made a will on 9 August 1687 at Northampton Co, VA. To my two sons John and Andrew Small my 100 A. plantation which I bought of Mr. William Andrews to be eq. div. when my son Andrew is 21, reserving for my wife for life the use of 1/3 of the plantation. I confirm to my two sons the cattle formerly called theirs. To my son John my long gun. To my son Andrew my short gun. My loving wife Ann Small resid. legatee and extrx. My friends Mr. John Robins and Mr. Charles Parkes to see my will performed. Witt: William Jarvis, Peter Delacourt, Thomas 'X' Richards. (Note: In 1707 Ann Smaw gave by deed of gift to her four grand-children Ann, Sarah, John and Andrew Smaw,1698-1710).¹ On 28 Nov 1687 in N'hamp County Mrs. Sarah Innis' verbal will was proven. She left the two children of Ann Morgan's living at Andrew Small's house one heifer and a black sowe.²⁸ He died before 28 March 1688 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that his will was probated.¹

     Anne (-----) was born circa 1645.¹ She married Andrew Smaw I circa 1665.¹ As of circa 1665,her married name was Smaw.¹ Anne (-----) gave a deposition on 12 November 1677 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as Anne (her mark) Smaw. That being at the house of Mr. John Waterson, I heard Mrs. Harmanson say that if Mr. Waters knew so much as she did he would kick Mrs. Powell out of doors. Mrs. Powell asked for what Mrs. Harmanson answered for having dealings with Mr. Waters servants and Mrs. Powell demanded if Mrs. Harmanson would prove that she replyed she would bring those that should & further saith not.³ Anne was named in her husband's will on 9 August 1687 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as wife Ann Small in the will of Andrew Small.¹
26 Nov 1688 in N'hamp County the will of John Margetts was clarified by the deposition of William Jarvis, aged 35, which was taken 2 days before the death of the testator at the house of the widow Small. The deponent said that the dec'd gave his plantation to his daughter Susanna Margetts, with the remainder of the estate to be equally divided by the widow Small and the dec'd's daughter.⁴ As of circa 1689,her married name was Hutchinson.⁵ She married John Hutchinson circa 1689.⁵ Anne was named in her husband's will on 25 January 1688/89 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as wife Ann in the will of John Hutchinson. He also named Andrew Smaw and John Smaw who were evidently her sons.⁵ In 1691 when the Assembly tried so often to establish towns at strategic points in the colony, it passed an Act "For Northampton County, upon one of the branches of Cherrystones Creek, on the land of Mrs. (Miss) Anna Lee, the daughter of Captain Hancock Lee, and not in the Tenure of the widow of Andrew Small."² On 12 May 1707 Ann Smaw gave by deed of gift to her 4 grandchildren Ann, Sarah, John and Andrew Smaw. Ann Smaw, widow, appoint my friend and neighbor Nathaniel Caple to be my true & lawfull attorney to acknowledged in court one deed of gift made by me to my 4 grandchildren for several things therein contained.      John Smaw I was born circa 1665 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ He married Sarah Marshman, daughter of Henry Marshman Sr. and Sarah (-----), circa 1687.² John was named in his father's will on 9 August 1687 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as son John Small in the will of Andrew Small, wife Ann. His brother Andrew was under 21. (NOTE: Since he was not shown as under 21, evidently he was over age 21.).¹ He inherited land in 1688 at tract N45, Chesapeake, Northampton Co, VA. In 1688 William Andrews sold the final 100 acres of tract N45, which is between Eastville and Chertion on the Sea Side of the highway, to Andrew Smaw. In 1688 Smaw, wife Ann, left to sons John and Andrew but the former died without issue. In 1735 Andrew Smaw left the 100 acres to wife Elishe and then to a son John under entail. (NOTE: It was probably John's son Andrew who left the 100 aces to wife Elishe, not the elder brother Andrew.).³ John was named as an heir on 25 January 1688/89 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that Andrew Smaw was given a mare running in Church Neck in the will of John Hutchinson, wife Ann. He also gave John Smaw one shirt and Andrew Smaw all the rest of my clothes. (NOTE: Evidently Ann was their mother by her earlier marriage to Andrew Smaw.).⁴ John witnessed a will on 13 April 1691 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that Edward Ashby and John Small witnessed the will of Luke Masman, wife Elizabeth.⁵ John was named as a guardian on 28 March 1692 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that upon the petition of John Small on the behalf of his brother-in-law Henry Masman orphan under age to choose his guardian and the said childs complaint of hard usage where he was. It is ordered by the court that the said John Small fortwith take care of the said Henry Masman and such estate as belongs to him which is accordingly to be delivered to him and that he render and account thereof to the next court.⁶ John was named as an appraiser of an estate on 28 September 1692 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that William Waterson, William Scot, John Brewer & John Smaw were named to appraise the estate of John Allphey, widow Susanna.⁸ John was named as administrator of an estate on 1 February 1698 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Henry Masman was granted to John Small and Robert Peters having married the sisters of the dec'd.² John was named as administrator of an estate on 29 January 1700 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that James, Peter, William, John & Margaret were named as the children of Peter Delacourt when his estate was administered to John Small as guardian of James Delacourt.⁹ John was named as an appraiser of an estate on 2 March 1702 at N'hamp Co, VA. It was on this date that John Robins Jr., James Ansell, John Small & John Swindall were named to appraise the estate of Benjamin Cowell, Thomas Mills admr.¹⁰ He was shown on the Quit Rents of Virginia in 1704 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as John Smaw with 800 acres. (NOTE: The 800 acres is obviously an error, as all Northampton Co deed books have been searched and he most likely only owned the 100 acres he inherited from his father Andrew, who died intestate in 1688.).¹¹ John was named as an appraiser of an estate on 30 November 1709 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that Daniel Hanby, William Scott Sr., Devorax Godwine & John Smaw were named to appraise the estate of Capt. Listed with him were Henry Smaw, John Jones & Esther Mongon and Luke Smaw, a boy above age 10 and under age 16.²³ In Jan 1725/26 John Smaw & Andrew Smaw were among those in favor of a new road that had been proposed by Gawton Hunt. In Sep 1728 William Wilkins, Samuel Johnson & William Melling petition that the Main Road is very inconvenient to their plantations. They ask to turn the road frmo the Branch by Wilkins plantation to the Branch at the farther end of Stubbing's field. Neighbors included John Smaw.²⁴ He was on the list of tithables at Northampton Co, VA, in 1727. He was shown as John Smaw with 4 tithes on John Robin's list. (NOTE: This was his last time on the tithable list, as in 1729 Henry Smaw was listed separately and Luke Smaw was listed with Andrew Smaw.²⁶ John was named as an appraiser of an estate on 8 October 1728 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that Andrew Smaw, John Smaw, William Wilkins & Henry Respes were named to appraise the estate of Philip Jacob, wife Neomi.²⁷ He died before 14 January 1728/29 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of John Smaw was granted to Andrew Smaw. In the loose papers it shows that Andrew Smaw's petition shows that his father, John Smaw is lately dec'd having made no will. As the eldest son, the said Andrew is entitled to administer and is ready to give security as the law directs. On 11 Feb 1728/29 the appraised division of the Estate of John Smaw dec'd was returned in part by Andrew Smaw his Admr.      James Dillicoat was born circa 1690 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ James had a guardian named on 29 January 1700 at Northampton Co, VA.      James Smaw was born circa 1600.¹ He died before 7 May 1638 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that the death of James Small was referred to.¹

     Sarah Marshman was born circa 1672 at Northampton Co, VA.³ Sarah was named in her father's will on 12 August 1686 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as my daughter Sarah Marshman in the will of Henry Marshman, wife Sarah.² As of circa 1687,her married name was Smaw.³ She married John Smaw I, son of Andrew Smaw I and Anne (-----), circa 1687.³ Sarah was named as an heir on 5 January 1712/13 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as Sarah, the mother of Andew Smaw who was the son of John, and given a handkerchief in the will of Thomas Tarbuck.⁴

It was on this date that William Scott, Mary Scott, Frances Wilkins, John Wilkins Jr, Judith Wilkins, Andrew Smaw, Anne Stringer, William Rascoe & William Tazewell witnessed the will of Obedience Robins, Gentlemen.¹⁹ He was on the list of tithables at Northampton Co, VA, on 10 June 1731. He was shown as Andr Smaw on James Forse' list. Listed below him was Luke Smaw.²⁰ Andrew witnessed a will on 22 April 1732 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that John Robins Jr., John Sheppard, Mary Gunderson, Andrew Smaw & William Satchell witnessed the will of Joseph Sheppard.²¹ Andrew witnessed a will on 28 March 1733 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that John Robins Jr., Andrew Smaw & Joseph Toleman witnessed the will of William Harmanson.²² Andrew was named as an appraiser of an estate on 10 April 1733 at Northampton Co, VA. The last will & testament of Andrew Smaw dec'd was presented in court by Elisha Smaw his Executrix who made oath thereto, being proved by the oath of John Elligood and Henry Smaw, two of the witnesses. Ordered that the will ly for further proof. On 12 Aug 1735 the last will & testament of Andrew Smaw dec'd was further proved by the oath of Edw'd Poyner, one of the witnessed. The will is therefore ---- to be recorded.^24,25 He left land in 1735 at tract N45, Chesapeake, N'hamp Co, VA. It was in this year that Andrew Smaw left the 100 acres of tract N45 between Eastville and Cherition on the Sea Side of the highway to wife Elishe and then to a son John under entail.²⁶

     Luke Marshman was born circa 1670 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Luke was named in his father's will on 12 August 1686 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as son Luke Marshman in the will of Henry Marshman, wife Sarah. His brother Henry was under age 18.¹

     John Nelson was born circa 1750 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ John was named in his mother's will on 15 February 1769 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as son John Nelson in the will of Elishe Freshwater. He was to be for himself (to act for himself) immediately after my death.¹

     Elizabeth Nelson was born circa 1746 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Elizabeth was named in her mother's will on 15 February 1769 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as daughter Elizabeth Nelson in the will of Elishe Freshwater.¹

     John Guy was born circa 1725. He married Betty Parker, daughter of John Parker (III) and Frances Coleburn, circa 1760. John died before 30 October 1771 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of John Guy was granted to Betty Guy with Edward Parker & William Growson security..¹

     (-----) Major was born circa 1680. She married (f/o Major, Rose & others) Guy circa 1695. As of circa 1695,her married name was Guy.

     Major Guy was born circa 1695 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ He married Lucretia Respess, daughter of Henry Respess and Dorothy (-----), circa 1732 at Northampton Co, VA.^2,1 Major Guy bought land in 1737 at tract N41, N of Rd between Cheriton & Oyster, N'hamp Co, VA. It was on this date that Ralph and Mary Pigot sold an excess of 150 acres at the south end to Culpeper Pigot who resold to Major Guy, to become merged with other Guy lands which later became broken up and sold in small parcels. In 1739 Josias Willis & wief Esther sold 50 acres at the west end to Major Guy and 3 years later Willis alone sold him the 150-acre balance.³ He bought land in 1739 at tract N19, S side of Old Plantation Creek, N'hamp Co, VA. It was in this year that Daniel Godwin had sold 150 acres of tract N19 to Major Guy, by a General Court transaction. In 1738 Major & Lucreshe Guy sold 187 1/2 acres to Benjamin Johnson, it being all of his holdings in this vicinity.⁴ Major made a will on 25 March 1745 at Northampton Co, VA. To my son John 200 A. to be laid off at the head of my land and £100. My brick house to be finished and paid for out of my estate. To my brother Henry Smaw the tuition of my sons Henry and John until Henry is of lawful age, and then Henry to have the tuition of his brother John until John is of lawful age. To my brother Henry Smaw the profits of my estate to bring up my said sons as my friends Edward Robins and Peter Bowdoin think suitable. To Richard Respes, Henry Smaw, John Richards, Josias Willis and Thomas Downs all they owe me. To Ann, John, Jonathan and Margaret Guy all they owe me. To John Wilkins Watts and John Cheese all they owe me. To Mary Smaw my wife's red sadle slip. To Mary Richards. All my dec'd wife's clothes to my sisters Mary Smaw and Rose Watts. To my son Henry the remainder of my land. To kinsman William Guy my part of the sloop "Dolphin". Remaining estate to my sons Henry and John, but if they die before 18 then my personal estate and ns. to be div. by the children of William Guy dec'd, Nicholas Guy dec'd, Daniel Guy dec'd, John Guy, Jonathan Guy, Rose Watt's children, Mary Smaw's children and John Respes and Thomas Respess. To kinswoman Margaret Guy one and a half years schooling. Brother Henry Smaw extr. Witt: John Holbrooke, Thomas Brewer, Benjamin Jenkins.¹ He died before 9 April 1745 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that his will was probated.¹ He left land in 1745 at tract N36, W of Cherition, N'hamp Co, VA. It was in this year that Major Guy left 100 acres of tract N36 to son Henry. In 1796 Henry Guy sold 48 acres at the north on the creek to Robert Wilkins; this probably was what had come originally from tract N38 so it was now back home again. In 1798 Guy sold a balance of 175 acres by survey to Custis Kendall.⁵ He bought land in 1745 at tract N49, Eastville, N'hamp Co, VA. It was in this year that James Delpech sold 112 acres to Henry Smaw, as executor for the estate of Major Guy, stating that it was the land he had bought from Thomas & Esther Cowdrey. As the land had been entailed the Cowdreys probably had the entail docked and then sold to Delpech by a General Court deed. Again there is no local record of a disposition by the estate of Major Guy, or any of his heirs, but soon after the above date Griffin Stith was owner of the land.⁶

     Lucretia Respess was born circa 1710 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Lucretia was named in her father's will on 13 May 1730 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as daughter Lucreshe Respess and given £20 in the will of Henry Respess, planter, wife Dorothy.² As of circa 1732,her married name was Guy.^1,3 She married Major Guy, son of (f/o Major, Rose & others) Guy and (-----) Major, circa 1732 at Northampton Co, VA.^1,3 Lucretia Respess died before 25 March 1745. She was evidently dec'd by this date as her husband Major Guy, merchant, left my wife's red sadle slip to his sister Mary Smaw.³

     Mary Guy was born circa 1710 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ As of circa 1730,her married name was Smaw.¹ She married Henry Smaw I, son of John Smaw I and Sarah Marshman, circa 1730 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Mary was named in her brother's will on 25 March 1745 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as my sister Mary Smaw in the will of Major Guy, merchant. She was given my wife's red saddle slip. He also mentioned Mary Smaw's children, but not by name, and a brother (meaning brother-in-law) Henry Small, who was evidently her husband.¹

     Daniel Guy was born circa 1707 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ He died before 25 March 1745 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that Major Guy, merchant, mentioned the children of Daniel Guy dec'd in his will, but not by name.¹

     Henry Respess was born circa 1690.¹ He married Dorothy (-----) circa 1708 at Northampton Co.¹ Henry made a will on 13 May 1730 at Northampton Co, VA. To my dau. Lucreshe Respess £20. The use of the remainder of my estate to my loving wife Dorothy and to my son Richard for 8 years and then to be div. eq. by my wife and all my children. Wife and son Richard extrs. Witt: Peter Bowdoin, William Scott, Henry Speakman.¹ He died before 10 November 1730 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that his will was probated.¹

     Dorothy (-----) was born circa 1690.¹ She married Henry Respess circa 1708 at Northampton Co.¹ As of circa 1708,her married name was Respess.¹ Dorothy was named in her husband's will on 13 May 1730 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as wife Dorothy in the will of Henry Respess, planter.¹

     Richard Respess was born circa 1708 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Richard was named in his father's will on 13 May 1730 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as my son Richard and named Extr in the will of Henry Respess, planter, wife Dorothy.¹ Richard was named in his brother-in-law's will on 25 March 1745 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as Richard Respes and given all that he owes me in the will of Major Guy, merchant.²

     Jonathan Guy was born circa 1712 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ On 28 Jul 1741 in Accomack Court the complaint of Jonathan Guy, who failed to prove anything against Hewit Only regarding the orphans of William Guy dec'd was dismissed.² Jonathan was named in his brother's will on 25 March 1745 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as Jonathan Guy in the will of Major Guy, merchant.¹

     Adah Guy was born circa 1736 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Adah was named in her brother's will on 14 January 1771 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as my sister Adah Guy and given a suit of mourning in the will of John Guy, planter, wife Susanna.¹

     Lucretia Guy was born circa 1740 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Lucretia was named in her brother's will on 14 January 1771 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as my sister Lucretia Guy and given a mourning ring in the will of John Guy, planter, wife Susanna.¹

     Thomas Smaw was born circa 1748 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Thomas was named in his uncle's will on 14 August 1753 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as Thomas Smaw, son of my sister Joanna Smaw, & the son of John, in the will of Thomas Edmunds, wife Sarah.¹ Thomas was named as an heir in August 1758 at Northampton Co, VA. In Aug 1758 in N'hamp Co, a case involving the division of the estate of Thomas Edmunds is brought by William Heth Jr and James Heth (son of William) infants by William Heth, their next friend (guardian) and by Elishe and Thomas Smaw, infants by John Smaw, the next friend (guardian) and by John Wilson Jr., infant against Sarah Edmunds, Extr of the said Thomas. The said Thomas died leaving a will (probate 14 Dec 1756) naming legacies to the above orators & oratrixes and also to Southy Edmunds who died intestate in the lifetime of the said Thomas, underage, without issue.² He married (-----) (-----) in 1770.

He was shown as George Myles, a 4/12 year old son, born Mar 1900 in DC & his father was born in DC & his mother in VA.¹ Bernard was listed with his mother in the census of 21 April 1910 at 29th Street, Mount Rainier, Prince George's Co, MD. He was shown as Bernard Miles, a 10 year old step-son in HH#249 headed by Henry Cleveland, a 43 year old fireman. He was born in DC & both his parents were born in VA. Also listed was his mother Lucy (now Cleveland), age 31.² Bernard was listed with another family in the census of 23 January 1920 at Military & Naval Forces, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He was shown as Bernard G. Miles, ship cook, ranck 4c, a 20 year old sailor. His US residence was Mt. Rainier P.O., Prince George's Co, MD. He was born in DC and both his parents were born in VA.⁴ He married Mae G. Norton, daughter of Frank P. Norton and Virgie M. He was born in DC as were both of his parents. He was shown as George Myles the head of HH#175, a 34 year old tinner, born Aug 1865 in DC as were both of his parents. Listed with him were the following Myleses: Lucy, a 20 year old wife, born Sep 1879 in VA as were both of her parents, she was married 3 years with 2 children born & 2 living; John J., a 2 year old son, born May 1898 in DC & his father was born in DC & his mother in VA; and George, a 4/12 year old son, born Mar 1900 in DC & his father was born in DC & his mother in VA. He was shown as son George and given bed and furniture in the will of Henry Smaw, wife Anne.² He married Peggy Evans on 19 January 1785. John Nelson was the security on the M.L.B. of George Smaw and Peggy Evans, daughter of Wm Evans dec'd.³ George witnessed a will on 10 October 1791 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that Nathaniel Goffigon, George Smaw & Peggy (X) Smaw witnessed the will of John Respess.⁴ He married Nancy Smaw, daughter of Thomas Smaw and (-----) (-----), on 22 June 1795 at Northampton Co, VA. John Nelson was the security on the M.L.B. of George Smaw and Nancy Smaw.³ George witnessed a will in February 1802 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date Elizabeth Trours, Zorobabel Jones & George Smaw witnessed the will of Richard Hickman, wife Elizabeth.⁵

     Mary Griffith was born circa 1770 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ As of 15 July 1786,her married name was Smaw.¹ She married John Smaw IV, son of Luke Smaw and Abigail (305) Waterson, on 15 July 1786 at Northampton Co, VA. Eyrs Stokley was the security on the M.L.B. of John Smaw and Mary Griffeth, daughter of Daniel Griffeth who gave consent.² Mary was named in her father's will on 13 April 1793 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as my daughter Mary Smawl in the will of Daniel Griffith.¹

     John Smaw IV was born circa 1740 at Northampton Co, VA.⁴ He was on the list of tithables at Northampton Co, VA, in June 1765. He was shown as John Smaw with 75 acres of land and Abel & Nan were listed below him on John Wilkins' list.⁵ He sold land on 17 April 1775 at tract N34, S of Cheriton, N'hamp Co, VA. (NOTE: However, the record shows that a John Smaw Jr. sold 80 acres to Benjamin Stratton on 17 Apr 1775, not Luke & Abigail. So it is assumed that this John Smaw Jr. was a son of Luke and Abigail Smaw.) Eyrs Stokley was the security on the M.L.B. of John Smaw and Mary Griffeth, daughter of Daniel Griffeth who gave consent.⁷ John was named in his father-in-law's will on 13 April 1793 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as my son-in-law John Smawl and named Extr in the will of Daniel Griffith, who also named a daughter Mary Smawl and grandson Henry & William Small.⁴

     Henry Smaw IV was born circa 1788 at Northampton Co, VA.³ Henry was named in his grandfather's will on 13 April 1793 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as a grandson Henry Smawl in the will of Daniel Griffith.²

     William Smaw was born circa 1790 at Northampton Co, VA.² William was named in his grandfather's will on 13 April 1793 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as a grandson William Smawl in the will of Daniel Griffith.²

     Elizabeth Holland was born circa 1760 at Northampton Co, VA.² As of 17 October 1783,her married name was Smaw.² She married Henry Smaw III, son of Henry Smaw II and Anne (-----), on 17 October 1783 at Northampton Co, VA. John Nelson was the security on the M.L.B. of Henry Smaw and Elizabeth Holland.²

     Peggy Evans was born circa 1765 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ As of 19 January 1785,her married name was Smaw.¹ She married George Smaw, son of Henry Smaw II and Anne (-----), on 19 January 1785. John Nelson was the security on the M.L.B. of George Smaw and Peggy Evans, daughter of Wm Evans dec'd.¹ Peggy witnessed a will on 10 October 1791 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that Nathaniel Goffigon, George Smaw & Peggy (X) Smaw witnessed the will of John Respess.² She died before 22 June 1795.¹

     Nancy Smaw was born circa 1772 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ She married George Smaw, son of Henry Smaw II and Anne (-----), on 22 June 1795 at Northampton Co, VA. John Nelson was the security on the M.L.B. of George Smaw and Nancy Smaw.¹ Nancy Smaw was shown to be related to a Rev War vetran on 11 September 1809 at Northampton Co, VA. On the motion of Revel Watson - Nancy Smaw, Sally Biggs, Christopher Biggs & Elizabeth Watson are shown as the legal heirs & representatives of John Smaw dec'd.²

     John Watson was born circa 1780 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ He married Tabitha Dix on 21 September 1809 at Accomack Co, VA. Hancock Simpson was the security on the M.L.B. of John Watson of Israel and Tabitha Dix.¹

     Tabitha Dix was born circa 1790 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ As of 21 September 1809,her married name was Watson.¹ She married John Watson, son of Israel Watson, on 21 September 1809 at Accomack Co, VA. Hancock Simpson was the security on the M.L.B. of John Watson of Israel and Tabitha Dix.¹

     Margaret Hall Colonna was born circa 1770 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ Margaret was named in her father's will on 30 March 1799 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as a single daughter Margaret Hall Colonna in the codicil to the will of William Colonna, wife Comfort.¹ Margaret was named in her mother's will on 22 May 1817 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as daughter Margart H. Outten in the will of Comfort Colonna.²

     Catherine 'Catern' Colonna was born circa 1775 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ Catherine was named in her father's will on 30 March 1799 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as a single daughter Catern Colonna in the codicil to the will of William Colonna, wife Comfort.¹ Catherine was named in her mother's will on 22 May 1817 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as daughter Catharine Smith in the will of Comfort Colonna.²

     Mary 'Ann Maria' Colonna was born circa 1780 at Accomack Co, VA.² Mary was named in her father's will on 30 March 1799 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as a single daughter Mary Colonna in the codicil to the will of William Colonna, wife Comfort.² Mary was named in her mother's will on 22 May 1817 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as daughter Ann Maria Chandler in the will of Comfort Colonna.³

     Elizabeth Watson was born circa 1779 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ As of 11 February 1795,her married name was Colonna.¹ She married William Colonna, son of William Colonna and Comfort Hall, on 11 February 1795. Robert Twiford was the security on the M.L.B. of William Colony and Elizabeth Watson.¹ Elizabeth was named in her father's will on 22 May 1822 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as daughter Elizabeth Colonna in the will of Ephraim Watson, wife Tabitha.² Elizabeth was named in her son's will on 26 September 1835 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as my mother in the will of Samuel W. Colonna. (NOTE: She was not named in the will of her husband in 1823.).³

     Samuel W. Colonna was born on 2 January 1796 at Accomack Co, VA.² Samuel was named in his father's will on 29 September 1823 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as son Samuel W. Colonna in the will of William Colonna.¹ He married Anne M. Galt, daughter of Dr. Samuel (620) Galt and Anna Maria (112) Andrews, on 10 December 1823 at Accomack Co, VA. T.W. Adair was the security on the M.L.B. of Samuel W. Colonna and Anna M. Parker, widow of Thomas J. Parker.³ Samuel W. Colonna married Brunetta Parker, daughter of Henry Parker and Agnes (288) West, on 6 February 1833 at Accomack Co, VA. Patrick Colonna was the security on the M.L.B. of Samuel W. Colonna, widower, and Brunetta Parks. (NOTE: Turman shows Parks & Mears shows Parker.).^3,4 Samuel made a will on 26 September 1835 at Accomack Co, VA. The land I bought at auction last summer which formerly belonged to my dec'd father William Colonna lying on Andua Creek containing 188 acres to be sold & the proceeds with all my personal estate, except my slaves, to my brothers William, Thomas & Edmund & my mother & sisters Elizabeth, Mary, Margaret & Susan Joynes so as to give my brothers William, Thomas & Edward whole shares & to my mother & sisters Elizabeth, Margaret & Susan Joynes half shares. My Negroes Jane, Catharine, Mary, Samuel & Riley to be hired out from year to year & their hires to my brothers William, Thomas & Edward Colonna & my mother & sisters Elizabeth, Mary & Margaret Colonna & Susan Joynes in the same proportion as above. Friend Walter D. Bayne Extr. Witt: John A. Ames, Major D. Colonna & Alexander W. F. Mears.⁵ He died on 9 October 1835 at Accomack Co, VA, at age 39. His will was probated on 26 Oct 1835. William R. Custis & John T. R. Joynes securities.^5,2 Samuel was buried at Colonna Graves, Hacks Neck, Acc Co, VA. His tombstone shows him as Samuel W. Colonna, son of Wm & Eliz, 2 Jan 1796 - 9 Oct 1835.²

     William P. Colonna was born circa 1802 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ William was named in his father's will on 29 September 1823 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as son William P. Colonna in the will of William Colonna.¹

     Anne M. Galt was born circa 1795.¹ As of 19 December 1817,her married name was Parker.¹ She married Thomas Jacob Parker on 19 December 1817 at Accomack Co, VA. William P.      Thomas Jacob Parker was born circa 1790.¹ He married Anne M. Galt, daughter of Dr. Samuel (620) Galt and Anna Maria (112) Andrews, on 19 December 1817 at Accomack Co, VA. William P.      May J. Colonna was born circa 1809 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ May was named in her father's will on 29 September 1823 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as daughter Mary J. Colonna in the will of William Colonna.¹
