     Daniel Neech was born in 1635 at England. He was shown as Dan'l Neech, age 36, in Apr 1671 when he gave a depostion in N'hamp County. He had an aged sister in Enland when he died.^2,3 He married Ellenor (-----) circa 1669.^1,3 Daniel Neech married Margaret (-----) before 1675 at Northampton Co, VA. In 1693 a cattle mark was recorded for "Elizabeth the dau. of Daniel Neech and Margaret his wife (which mark was formerly given the said Neech as marrying the relict of Mathew Gethinge)."³ Daniel Neech bought land in 1679 at tract N9, Cedar Grove, N'hamp Co, VA. It was in this year that Edward Harper of Somerset County sold 150 acres in tract N9 to Daniel Neech.⁴ He bought land in 1686 at tract N11, Capeville, N'hamp Co, VA. It was in this year that Thomas & Jane Eyre sold 175 acres of tract N11 to Daniel Neech, stating that it was where Neech then lived. Neech served for many years as Clerk of Northampton County and from 1671-1673 he was deputy under John Culpeper for the Upper Part of N'hamp County (Accomack) while the Shore was only one county during that period.⁵ He sold land in 1687 at tract N9, Cedar Grove, N'hamp Co, VA. It was in this year that Daniel & Margaret Neech sold 40 acres of tract N9 to Joshua Fitchet.⁴ Daniel made a will on 16 April 1703 at Northampton Co, VA. Being aged and crazey of body. Norly Crips the son of Richard Cripps (by his father's consent and court order bound to me and my now wife Margaret Neech until 21) being 10 the 14th of April to return to the care of his father, if his father survives me and my wife; but in case of his father's decease, then whoever takes him to care for him as if he were a child of our own. It was in this year that a cattle mark was recorded for "Elizabeth the dau. of Daniel Neech and Margaret his wife (which mark was formerly given the said Neech as marrying the relict of Mathew Gethinge)."¹ She married Thomas Eyre III, son of Thomas Eyre II and (-----) (-----), circa 1694 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ As of circa 1694,her married name was Eyre.¹ Elizabeth Neech died before 16 April 1703 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that her father Daniel Neech named his grandson and godson Neech Eyre in his will instead of her.¹

     Anne (-----) was born in 1621.² As of circa 1630,her married name was Mellinge.¹ She married William Mellinge Sr. circa 1650.¹ Anne (-----) sold land in 1662 at tract N29, Cheriton, N'hamp Co, VA. It was in this year that Anne Melling, as wife and attorney for her husband, assinged to Colonel William Kendall who reassigned to Robert Marrott.³ She gave a deposition in October 1663 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as Mrs. Ann Melling, age 44, which puts her birth at 1621.² Anne was named in her husband's will on 22 January 1670 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as wife Anne Mellinge and named Extr in the will of William Mellinge.⁴ Anne made a will on 20 November 1676 at Northampton Co, VA. To my dau. Margaret Melling one feather bed, n. woman Cettora, one servant girl named Anne for the time of her service indenture, and the items given her by her father's will which she has in her possession. To my said dau. one silver tankard, two pewter dishes, two pewter candlesticks, six pewter porringers, which said pewter I bought of John Willett.      William Mellinge Sr. was born in 1612.² He patented land in 1636 at tract N29, Cheriton, N'hamp Co, VA. He was shown as William Melling when he was granted 100 acres. In 1662 Anne Melling, as wife and attorney for her husband, assinged to Colonel William Kendall who reassigned to Robert Marrott.³ He patented land in 1636 at tract N33, Cheriton, N'hamp Co, VA. He was shown as William Melling when he was granted 100 acres in tract N33. In 1661 William and Anne Melling sold it to Colonel William Kendall.⁴ He lived in 1638 at Kings Creek, N'hamp Co, VA. It was in this year that there was a reference in the county records to Mr. Melling's house at the head of Kinges Creek, so this site may have been where the first Melling lived for so long.⁵ He married Anne (-----) circa 1650.⁶ William Mellinge Sr. gave a deposition in January 1650/51 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as Wm. Melling, age 38, which puts his birth 1612.² He took the oath of allegiance to hereby engage and promise to be true and faithful to the Commonwealth of England as it is now established without King or House of Lords on 30 March 1651 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as William Mellinge.⁷ He sold land in 1662 at tract N29, Cheriton, N'hamp Co, VA. It was in this year that Anne Melling, as wife and attorney for her husband, assinged to Colonel William Kendall who reassigned to Robert Marrott.³ He patented land in 1663 at tract N30, Old Plantation Neck, N'hamp Co, VA. He was shown as William Melling when he took over the land deserted by Frances, the widow of George Trewitt. In 1664 he sold 100 acres at the east end to Robert Hutchinson who resold the next year to William Andrews. In 1665 William and Anne Mellinge sold as 120 acres to William Starling.⁸ William witnessed a will on 5 October 1667 at Northampton Co, VA. Agness Somers, Thomas Sommers and Eustice Saunders were named in the will of Daniel Neech, wife Margarert.¹ He married Ann (-----) circa 1705.³ Thomas Somers died before 12 March 1728 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Thomas Summers was granted to Ann Summers, widow of the dec'd.³ In April 1729 Ann Sumers petitions for administration on the estate of her husband, Thomas. He died without making a will leaving a wife and 4 children. The said Ann feels she has the sole right to be admtrx and asks the Court to appoint appraisers and to divide it.⁴

     Ann (-----) was born circa 1690.¹ She married Thomas Somers, son of John Somers and Margaret Mellinge, circa 1705.¹ As of circa 1710,her married name was Somers.¹ Ann was named as administrator of an estate on 12 March 1728 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Thomas Summers was granted to Ann Summers, widow of the dec'd.¹ In April 1729 Ann Sumers petitions for administration on the estate of her husband, Thomas. He died without making a will leaving a wife and 4 children. The said Ann feels she has the sole right to be admtrx and asks the Court to appoint appraisers and to divide it.² As of before June 1730,her married name was Ingo.³ She married James Ingo before June 1730 at Northampton Co, VA. In June 1730 James Ingo who intermarried with Anne Summers, relict of Thomas Summers, not being able to give security for her orphan's estates, the Court orders that the estate be divided and that the part of the dec'd child be divided between the mother and surviving children.³

     Agnes Somers was born circa 1706 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ She married Francis Costin II, son of Francis Costin I and Isabell (-----), circa 1735 at Northampton Co, VA. According to Whitelaw in 1750 Francis Costin (wife Agnes) left 110 acres in tract N9 on the bayside to his son Francis. Whitelaw assumed that his wife had been the former Agnes Somers and title to the land had come to him through her and that she had gotten it by the 1703 will of Daniel Neech left his balance of 110 acres to wife Margaret, but if she did not make disposition it was to go to Thomas and Agnes Somers. Whitelaw also conjectured that this Agnes then married Azariah Scott, as 8 years later the death of Costin the Scotts sold the same land to John Wilson. Then in tracing the owership of tract N10 Whitelaw found evidence confirming the previous assumptoin that Francis Costin had married the widow Agnes Somers and that she late married Azariah Scot of tract N9 was found in a deed from the Scotts to Matthew Costin for her dower interest in the land left to him by Francis Costin. (NOTE: One concern here is that the Agnes Somers mentioned in the will of Daniel Neech was born circa 1680 and therefore would have been somewhat older then either Francis Costin or Azariah Scott, but it does support the owership of the land. Perhaps her brother (not husband) Thomas Somers, who died intestate in 1728, had a daughter Agnes who inherited the land and married Costin and Scott.).^2,1 As of circa 1735,her married name was Costin.^2,1 Agnes was named in her husband's will on 27 May 1750 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as wife Agnes in the will of Francis Costin. She was given the use and profits of my plantation whereon I now dwell for 4 years and then to my son Matthew. She was also given £10 and a Negro man Ned until she is settled on her own land.² As of circa 1751,her married name was Scott.¹ She married Azariah Scott circa 1751 at Northampton Co, VA.¹

     Abraham Costin was born circa 1724 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Abraham was named in his father's will on 27 May 1750 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as my son Abraham in the will of Francis Costin, wife Agnes.¹

     Agnes Costin was born circa 1738 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Agnes was named in her father's will on 27 May 1750 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as daughter Agnes in the will of Francis Costin, wife Agnes.¹

     James Ingo was born circa 1690.¹ He married Ann (-----) before June 1730 at Northampton Co, VA. In June 1730 James Ingo who intermarried with Anne Summers, relict of Thomas Summers, not being able to give security for her orphan's estates, the Court orders that the estate be divided and that the part of the dec'd child be divided between the mother and surviving children.¹

     James Spady was born circa 1640.¹ He died before 28 May 1688 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of James Spady was sold at public outcry (auction) by the sheriff on behalf of Col. John Stringer.²

     Christopher Jarvis was born circa 1620.¹ He married Sibilla 'Seble' (-----) circa 1650.¹ On 7 May 1650 the case against Henry Medcalfe concerning the death of John Wilson to presented at James City with Thomas Smyth, Christopher Jarvis and Sibilla his wife, and Henry East to appear as witnesses.² Christopher Jarvis took the oath of allegiance to hereby engage and promise to be true and faithful to the Commonwealth of England as it is now established without King or House of Lords on 25 March 1651 at Northampton Co, VA.      Robert Jarvis was born circa 1655 at Northampton Co, VA.¹

     William Jarvis was born in 1653 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ William witnessed a will on 9 February 1678 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that William Jarvis & John Warren witnessed the will of Robert Filkin.² He married Sarah (-----) before November 1688.³ William Jarvis gave a deposition in November 1688 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as William Jarvis, aged 35, who gave a deposition taken 2 days before the death of John Margetts, wife Mary, at the house of the widow Small: he said that the dec'd gave his plantation to his daughter Susanna Margetts, with the remainder of the estate to be equally divided by the widow Small and the dec'd's daughter. Witt: Sarah Jarvis (wife of the deponent) & Margaret Delacourt (wife of Peter).^4,3 He was security on the administration of an estate on 30 March 1691 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that William Jarvis and Daniel Neech were named securities on the administation of Robert Candlin to his widow Elizabeth Candlin.⁵ He married Elizabeth Duparkes, daughter of Thomas Duparkes and Elizabeth Powell, circa 1695 at Northampton Co, VA.⁶ William was named in his father-in-law's will on 3 December 1702 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that Thomas Duparkes, wife Elizabeth, named my son (meaning son-in-law) William Jarvis and gave him my plough and to his wife my pewter beere bowle.⁷ He died before 28 February 1709/10 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of William Jarvis was granted to Elizabeth Jarvis, widow of the dec'd on behalf of herself and children.⁸

     Francis Jarvis was born circa 1620.¹ Francis witnessed a will on 5 February 1646 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that Patricke Simson and Francis Jarvis witnessed the the will of Rowland Mills.¹

     Sarah (-----) was born circa 1660.¹ As of before November 1688,her married name was Jarvis.¹ She married William Jarvis, son of Christopher Jarvis and Sibilla 'Seble' (-----), before November 1688.¹

     Elizabeth Duparkes was born circa 1670 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ She married William Jarvis, son of Christopher Jarvis and Sibilla 'Seble' (-----), circa 1695 at Northampton Co, VA.² As of circa 1700,her married name was Jarvis.² Elizabeth was named in her father's will on 3 December 1702 at Northampton Co, VA. She was not shown by name, but instead Thomas Duparkes, wife Elizabeth, named my son (meaning son-in-law) William Jarvis and gave him my plough and to his wife my pewter beere bowle.¹ Elizabeth was named as administrator of an estate on 28 February 1709/10 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of William Jarvis was granted to Elizabeth Jarvis, widow of the dec'd on behalf of herself and children.³ In July 1727 Thomas Jarvis asked that Richard Carvey be summoned to bring Elizabeth Jarvis with him so that the Court may make some order to secure her estate. On 8 Aug 1727 Elizabeth Jarvis, William Gascoines and Thomas Luker have recieved of John Stachell and Thomas Dalby all of the estate they had in their hands but 1750 lb tobacco that is in other men's hands. For all the estate of William Jarvis dec'd the above 3 give Satchell and Dalby a general discharge this 12 of May 1712. Signed by the mark of Elizabeth Jarvis, by the mark of Thomas Lucor and by the signature of William Gascions. This my shall oblige me Elizabeth Jarvice to pay or cause to be payed unto John Satchell or his order the sum of 83 lbs tobacco and 6 lbs of good, clean washed wool to be payed upon demane where as witness my had 12 May 1712, signed by the mark of Elizabeth Jarvice. The above release of John Satchell was presented at Court and at his motion is admited to record 8 Aug 1727.⁴

Dailey the head of HH#546, a 27 year old farmer with real estate valued at $2,000 and personal property valued at $800. Listed with him were the following Daileys: Mary E., age 25; S. He was shown as Robert A. Daley the head of HH#303, a 67 year old farmer, born Oct 1832, married for 49 years.⁴ Robert was listed with his son in the census of 1910 at Screven Co, GA. He was shown as Robert A. Daley, a 78 year old father, married 58 years, in HH#52 headed by John H. Daley, a 45 year old boarding house propriator.⁵ He died on 23 April 1918 at Hampton Co, SC, at age 85.³ Robert was buried at Union Cemetery, Shirley, Hampton Co, SC. His tombstone shows him as R.A. Daley, 30 Oct 1832 - 23 Apr 1918.³
