Obed Cary was the security on the M.L.B. of Jonathan Mathews and Sarah Turner, widow Samuel Turner. They were married on 3 May 1790.¹ Jonathan Matthews died before 9 October 1792 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Jonathan Matthews was granted to William Satchell Sr. Appraisers: Hezekiah Pitts, Caleb Smith, John Major & John Furbush Turner.³ Administration of Jonathan estate was filed on 10 September 1794 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Jonathan Mathews was granted to Samuel S. McCroskey in place of William Satchell dec'd.⁴

He was shown as son Michael in the will of John Custis Matthews, wife Martha.¹ He married Sarah 'Sally' Barlow, daughter of Thomas Barlow and Jane Holbrooke, on 13 July 1790 at Northampton Co, VA. Teackle Turner was the security on the M.L.B. of Michael Mathews and Sally Barlow, ward of Littleton Upshur who gave consent.² Michael made a will on 7 March 1801 at Northampton Co, VA. I lend to my loving wife Sarah Mathews all my estate both real & personal during her life or widowhood to bring up, board & school all my children. I give and bequeath unto my son Samuel H. Mathews one Negro boy named Ned. I give and bequeath to my son Michael Mathews one Negro boy named Isaac. It is my will and desire that all the lands that I die possessed with may be equally divided between my two sons Samuel H. Mathews and Michael Mathews. I give and bequeath to my two daughters Rebecca Mathews and Susanna Mathews all the remainder part of my estate. Loving wife Sarah, executrix and friend John Core executor. Nottingham Sr., son of Thomas Nottingham and Scarburgh (422) Godwin, on 6 February 1798 at Northampton Co, VA. Thomas Jarvis was the security on the M.L.B. of William Nottingham and Molly Bell.⁴ Mary was named in her mother's will on 17 March 1816 at Northampton Co, VA.      William Fitchett was born in August 1869 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ William was listed with his parents in the census of 1870 at Capeville, N'hamp Co, VA. He was shown as Wm. Fitchett, age 8 months, born in Augt, in HH#374 headed by Wm. Fitchett, a 32 year old farmer.¹

     Joshua Fitchett I was born circa 1658.¹ He married Esther (-----) circa 1680. Joshua Fitchett I bought land in 1687 at tract N9, Cedar Grove, N'hamp Co, VA. It was in this year that Daniel and Margaret Neech sold 40 acres of tract N9 to Joshua Fitchett. In 1688 George Frizzell sold 60 acres of tract N9 to Joshua Fitchett and this became merged with the 40 acres Fitchett had bought from Neech. In 1710 Fitchett left to wife Esther and then to son John. In 1671 the will of John Fitchett (wife Sarah) did not mention land but it may have been entailed and thus have passed to a son Henry. In 1800 Henry and Ann Fitchett of Norfolk sold 28 acres to Southy Spady and 98 acres to William Jarvis.² He bought land in 1698 at tract A126, Bloxom, Acc Co, VA. It was in this year that Henry Truitt's, (wife Elizabeth) son George sold 200 acres of tract A126 to Joshua Fitchett. In 1710 Joshua Fitchett of N'hamp County left the 200 acres to his sons Witherington and Thomas. In 1728 Weatherington Fitchett (wife no named) left his land to his son John, and finally in 1742 this John, as heir of Weatherington, and Salathiel Fitchett, as heir of Thomas Fitchett of N'hamp County, formally divided the land, the former getting the north part. In 1774 Salathiel Fitchett, wife Shady, left to his son William, but five years later he and his wife Anne sold as 60 acres to another Salathiel Fitchett. In 1787 he and his wife Margaret, then living in Worcester County, MD, resold to John Fitchett. In 1782 John Fitchett left to his daughters, Anne Howard, widow of Solomon, and Esther Silverthorne. Disposition of Esther's part was not noted, but in 1789 Ann Howard sold her 50 acres to Selby Simpson, who resold to William Young Sr.³ Joshua made a will on 5 May 1709 at Northampton Co, VA. To my two sons Witherinton and Thomas Fitchett my 200 A. plantation in Accomack County to be eq. div. To son John Fitchett my 100 A. plantation I now live on after my wife's decease. To son John my mill. To my wife Ester Fitchett. To my two sons Jacob and Joshua Fitchett all my tools to be eq. div. To my two daus. Elizabeth Fitchett and Susanna Fitchett. To my dau. Comfort Sharp.      Esther (-----) was born circa 1662.¹ She married Joshua Fitchett I circa 1680. As of circa 1680,her married name was Fitchett.¹ Esther was named in her husband's will on 5 May 1709 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as wife Ester Fitchet in the will of Joshua Fitchett.¹ Esther made a will on 29 March 1716 at Northampton Co, VA. To my son John Fitchitt (unmarried). To my son Joshua Fitchett. To my son Witherinton Fitchett. To my two grandchildren Nehemiah and Comfort Fitchitt the corn which my son Jacob Fitchitt owed me. To Rachel Hill. To my dau.      Columbia Elizabeth Scott was born on 28 June 1916 at Bayview Farm, Dalbys, N'hamp Co, VA.³ As of circa 1940,her married name was Watson.³ She married Virgil Ellison Watson Jr., son of Virgil Ellison Watson Sr. and Alice Nottingham, circa 1940.⁴ Columbia Elizabeth Scott died on 7 September 1980 at Burkeville, VA, at age 64.³ Columbia was buried at Bayview Farm, Dalbys, N'hamp Co, VA.⁴

     Clinton Scott was born on 5 August 1866 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ He married Bettie Jarvis Spady, daughter of Thomas William Spady and Margaret Jarvis Scherer, on 14 October 1891 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as Clinton Scott, a 24 year old farmer the s/o James B & Emily and she was shown as Bettie Spady, age 19, the d/o Thomas W & Maggie.³ Clinton Scott died on 4 April 1927 at age 60.¹ Clinton was buried at Bayview Farm, Dalbys, N'hamp Co, VA.⁴

     Bettie Jarvis Spady was born on 2 July 1871 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ She married Clinton Scott, son of James Benjamin Scott and Emily Sarah Williams, on 14 October 1891 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as Clinton Scott, a 24 year old farmer the s/o James B & Emily and she was shown as Bettie Spady, age 19, the d/o Thomas W & Maggie.³ As of 14 October 1891,her married name was Scott.³ Bettie Jarvis Spady died on 19 September 1954 at age 83.¹ Bettie was buried at Bayview Farm, Dalbys, N'hamp Co, VA.²

     Thomas William Spady was born on 17 March 1840 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ He married Margaret Jarvis Scherer, daughter of Dr. George Nicholas Scherer and Henrietta Sarah Jarvis, on 10 March 1870 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as Thomas W. Spady, a 32 year old farmer, born in Acc & living in Nh, the s/o John H & Margaret A and she was shown as Henrietta S Scherer, age 18, born & living in N'hamp Co, the d/o Nicholas & Hennrietta. They were married on 10 Mar 1870 in Accomack County by JE Humphreys.³ Thomas was buried at Sadie Fitchett Farm, N'hamp Co, VA. There is no stone in the plot but the tombstone book shows him as Thomas William Spady, husband of M.J.S., 17 Mar (1840?) - Mar 1918.¹ He died on 16 April 1918 at age 78. The Moses T. Wilson Bible shows he died 16 Apr 1918, an old veteran. Mihalyka's Gravestones shows March 1918, but notes there is no stone.^1,2

     Margaret Jarvis Scherer was born on 30 September 1851 at Accomack Co, VA.³ She married Thomas William Spady, son of John H. Spady and Margaret Ann Jarvis, on 10 March 1870 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as Thomas W. Spady, a 32 year old farmer, born in Acc & living in Nh, the s/o John H & Margaret A and she was shown as Henrietta S Scherer, age 18, born & living in N'hamp Co, the d/o Nicholas & Hennrietta. They were married on 10 Mar 1870 in Accomack County by JE Humphreys.² As of 17 March 1870,her married name was Spady.³ Margaret Jarvis Scherer died on 28 December 1888 at age 37.³ Margaret was buried at Sadie Fitchett Farm, Dalbys, N'hamp Co, VA. Her tombstone shows her as Margaret J. Scherer Spady, wife of T.W., 30 Sep 1851 - 28 Dec 1888, married 17 Mar 1870.³

     Henrietta Sarah Jarvis was born on 27 August 1829 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ She married Dr. George Nicholas Scherer, son of Dr. George Scherer and Frances Ann Hack, on 22 October 1850 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as Dr. George Nicholas Hack Scherer (no parents) and she was shown as Henrietta Sarah Jarvis, daughter of Wm. & Marg't Jarvis.³ As of 22 October 1850,her married name was Scherer.³ Henrietta Sarah Jarvis died on 27 July 1910 at Northampton Co, VA, at age 80.¹ Henrietta was buried at Sadie Fitchett Farm, Dalbys, N'hamp Co, VA.      Margaret Evans was born circa 1750.¹ She married Southy Goffigon, son of James Goffigon and Leah Willett, on 18 November 1769 at Northampton Co, VA.      Witherington Fitchett I was born circa 1686 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Witherington was named in his father's will on 5 May 1709 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as son Witherinton and along with son Thomas Fitchett they were given 200 acre plantation in Accomack County to be divided equally in the will of Joshua Fitchett, wife Ester.¹ Witherington witnessed a will on 20 May 1709 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that Sarah James & Witherinton Fitchett witnessed the will of William Brown. Witherinton & his sister Elizabeth were also named in the will and he was named to be Extr.² He inherited land in 1710 at tract A126, Bloxom, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as son Witherinton Fitchett in the will of Esther Fitchitt.⁵ Witherington witnessed a will on 24 July 1721 at Guilford Creek, Acc Co, VA. It was on this date that Edmond Tatham, Benjamin Royall, John Johnson & Weatherington Fitchett witnessed the will of Richard Hinman, of Guilford Creek, wife Elizabeth. Richard Hinman mentioned land below the land of Weatherington Fitchett.⁶ Witherington witnessed a will on 22 September 1722 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that John Johnson & Weatherington Fitchett witnessed the will of Elizabeth Hinman, widow of Richard. His daughter Rachell Fitchett was named in the will but no relationship was shown.⁷ Witherington made a will on 4 November 1727 at Accomack Co, VA. To son John Fitchett all my land after the death of my wife & privllege for my 3 daughters to live & use the same until marriage. Daughter Rachel.      Jacob Fitchett was born circa 1682 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Jacob was named in his father's will on 5 May 1709 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as son Jacob Fitchett in the will of Joshua Fitchett, wife Ester. He and his brother Joshua were were given all my tools to be equally divided between them.¹ He married Lisha Elligood, daughter of Henry Elligood and Sarah Ward, circa 1710.² Jacob Fitchett died before 29 March 1716 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that his mother Esther Fitchett left her grandchildren Nehemiah and Comfort Fitchett the corn which my son Jacob Fitchett owed me.² Administration of Jacob estate was filed on 19 February 1717/18 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as Jacob Fetchit when the sheriff was ordered to take custody of his estate. (NOTE: George Fetchit's estate was also administered to the sheriff on this date.).³

     William Sharp was born circa 1712 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ William was named in his grandmother's will on 29 March 1716 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as granson William Sharp in the will of Esther Fitchett.¹

     Lisha Elligood was born circa 1690 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ As of circa 1710,her married name was Fitchett.¹ She married Jacob Fitchett, son of Joshua Fitchett I and Esther (-----), circa 1710.¹ Lisha made a will on 22 August 1725 at Northampton Co, VA. To my son Nehemiah Fitchett n. girl Esther and for want of his heirs to my brother Handcock Elligood. And the said Esther's first child to my sister Sophia Elligood. To son Nehemiah a buckaneer gun and gold ring. To Mariot Persons my son Nehemiah until he is 14, and my part of my dec'd brother Bennony Elligood's estate. Mariot Persons resid. legatee and extr.      Comfort Fitchett was born circa 1712 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Comfort was named in her mother's will on 29 March 1716 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as my grandchild Comfort Fitchitt in the will of Esther Fitchett.¹

     Rachel Hill was born circa 1700 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Rachel was named as an heir on 29 March 1716 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as Rachel Hill in the will of Esther Fitchitt.¹

     Elishe Fitchett was born circa 1700 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Elishe witnessed a will on 3 May 1720 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that Ralph Pigott and Elishe Fitchett witnessed the will of Jerom Freshwater.¹

     George Fitchett was born circa 1690 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ He died before 19 February 1717/18 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as George Fetchit when the sheriff was ordered to take custody of his estate. (NOTE: Jacob Fetchit's estate was also administered to the sheriff on this date.).¹

     Henry Elligood was born circa 1650.³ He married Sarah Ward, daughter of Benomy Ward and Sarah Hewitt, circa 1686 at Northampton Co, VA.⁴ A cattle mark was recorded for Henry Elligood on 10 July 1694 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that cattle marks were recorded for Henry Elligood (given by his mother-in-law Sarh Hewet, now wife of Benoni Ward, which were her father's mark on record in this book), and for Elizabeth the daughter of Benoni Ward and Sarah his wife.⁵ Henry witnessed a will on 1 November 1694 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that Nathaniel Littleton, Henry Ellegood & Elizabeth Ward witnessed the will of Benoni Ward, wife Sarah.⁵ He died before 10 January 1721/22 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Henry Elligood was granted to Thomas Ward Elligood.⁶

     Handcock Elligood was born circa 1692 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Handcock was named in his sister's will on 22 August 1725 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as brother Handcock Elligood in the will of Lishia Fitchett.¹

     Sophia Elligood was born circa 1694 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Sophia was named in her sister's will on 22 August 1725 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as sister Sophia Elligood in the will of Lishia Fitchett.¹ She died before 10 February 1735 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Sophia Ellegood was granted to (Capt.) Ralph Pigot, John Satchell (who intermarried with the dec'd nearest of kin) having refused.³

     Bennony Elligood was born circa 1688 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Bennony was named in his sister's will on 22 August 1725 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as my dec'd brother Bennony Elligood in the will of Lishia Fitchett.¹ He died before 15 June 1726 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Benoin Elligood was granted to Thomas Costen his greatest creditor.³

     Thomas Ward Elligood was born circa 1686 at Northampton Co, VA. He married Bridget (-----) circa 1720 at Northampton Co.² Thomas was named as administrator of an estate on 10 January 1721/22 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Henry Elligood was granted to Thomas Ward Elligood.³ Thomas made a will on 5 September 1724 at Northampton Co, VA. To my loving wife Bridget corn in the hands of (Capt.) Ralph Pigott, Thomas Costen, and John Coffin. To my son Thomas Ward Ellegood n. Nanney, 100 A., and New England chest.      Thomas Ward Elligood was born circa 1720 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Thomas was named in his father's will on 5 September 1724 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as son Thomas Ward Ellegood in the will of Thomas Ward Ellegood, wife Bridget.¹

     Cleare (-----) was born circa 1690.¹ As of circa 1710,her married name was Fitchett.¹ She married Thomas Fitchett, son of Joshua Fitchett I and Esther (-----), circa 1710.¹ Cleare was named in her husband's will on 26 January 1727/28 at Northampton Co, VA.      Susanna Fitchett was born circa 1726 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Susanna was named in her father's will on 26 January 1727/28 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as daughter Susanna Fitchett (under age) in the will of Thomas Fitchett, wife Cleare.¹

     Sophia Fitchett was born circa 1728 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Sophia was named in her father's will on 26 January 1727/28 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as daughter Sophia Fitchett (under age) in the will of Thomas Fitchett, wife Cleare.¹

     Daniel Fitchett was born circa 1726 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Daniel was named in his father's will on 26 January 1727/28 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as son Daniel (under age) in the will of Thomas Fitchett, wife Cleare.¹ Daniel was named as an appraiser of an estate on 9 April 1751 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that Thomas Respess, John Tyler, Thomas Spady & Daniel Fitchet were named to appraise the estate of Esther Milion.² Daniel was named in his brother's will on 1 July 1765 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as my brother Daniel Fitchet in the codicil of the will of Joshua Fitchet, wife Grace. He was to take the children if wife died before they were of age.³

     Salathiel Fitchett Sr. was born circa 1722 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Salathiel was named in his father's will on 26 January 1727/28 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as son Salathiel (under age) in the will of Thomas Fitchett, wife Cleare.¹ He was named in a division of land in 1742 at tract A126, Bloxom, Acc Co, VA. In 1710 Joshua Fitchett of N'hamp County left the 200 acres to his sons Witherington and Thomas. In 1728 Weatherington Fitchett (wife no named) left his land to his son John, and finally in 1742 this John, as heir of Weatherington, and Salathiel Fitchett, as heir of Thomas Fitchett of N'hamp County, formally divided the land, the former getting the north part. In 1774 Salathiel Fitchett, wife Shady, left to his son William, but five years later he and his wife Anne sold as 60 acres to another Salathiel Fitchett. In 1787 he and his wife Margaret, then living in Worcester County, MD, resold to John Fitchett. In 1782 John Fitchett left to his daughters, Anne Howard, widow of Solomon, and Esther Silverthorne. Disposition of Esther's part was not noted, but in 1789 Ann Howard sold her 50 acres to Selby Simpson, who resold to William Young Sr.² He married Shady (-----) circa 1750.³ Salathiel made a will on 13 January 1767 at Accomack Co, VA. To wife Shady Fitchett land & plantation during her widow then to my son William Fitchett land where I now live. Daughter "Cleartrouen" Fitchett. Daughters Shady, Siner & Anariter Fitchett. Sons Salathiel, Thomas & Jonathan Fitchett, Severn Fitchett, unborn child. All my children except William residual legatees. Wife & son William Exrs. Witt: William Young, Sr., George Young, Mary Young.³ He died before 26 January 1774 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that his will was probated.³ Administration of Salathiel estate was filed on 1 May 1804 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Salathiel Fitchett Sr. was granted to Jonathan Fitchett with James Melvin & Edmund Bayly securities. (NOTE: Evidently this is the Salathiel Fitchett who worte a will in 1767 and it was probated in 1774, but evidently it had not been settled.).⁴ He estate was settled on 28 January 1805 at Accomack Co, VA.⁵

     Mary Fitchett was born circa 1746 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Mary was named in her father's will on 26 October 1764 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as daughter Mary in the will of Nehemiah Fitchet, wife Rachel. Mary and Ann were the 2 youngest daughters.¹ Mary was named in her sister's will on 25 March 1765 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as my sister Mary Fitchet in the will of Ann Fitchet.² She died before 9 July 1771 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Mary Fitchet was granted to John Wilkins O.P.³

     Anne Fitchett was born circa 1744 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Anne was named in her father's will on 26 October 1764 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as daughter Anne in the will of Nehemiah Fitchet, wife Rachel. Anne and Mary were the 2 youngest daughters.¹ Anne made a will on 25 March 1765 at Northampton Co, VA. In the Name of God Amen, I Ann Fitchet of Northampton County being very sick and weak but of perfect sence and memory thanks to God for the same, do make this my Last Will and Testament and doth dispose of my worldly goods as followeth, viz., Item. I give to (my) sister Mary Fitchet my Negroe wench and child named Hope and Bettey (and) also my apparrell. Item. I give to Elishia Ellegood my Neagro man (Stephen?) also my silver shoebuckeles, sleave buttons and stayhooks. Item. He was shown as eldest son Daniel (under age) in the will of Joshua Fitchet, wife Grace. He was given plantation whereon I now live.¹ He married Molley (-----) circa 1780.² Daniel was named in his brother's will on 3 November 1786 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as brother Daniel in the will of Thomas Fitchett, who also named Daniel's son Thomas Fitchett.² Daniel was named as an appraiser of an estate on 14 January 1799 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that Thomas Jarvis, Joshua Fitchett Sr.(?), Daniel Fitchett and George Powell were named to appraise the estate of Jacob Moore.³ Daniel was named in his brother's will on 19 March 1808 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as Daniel Fitchett in the will of Joshua Fitchett Jr., wife Lukey. He and his son Thomas Fitchett were appointed Extrs.⁴ Daniel made a will on 16 September 1817 at Northampton Co, VA. I give & bequeath unto my son Thomas Fitchett the land that I purchased of John Trower and Thomas Dunton. I lend all the balance of my estate to my Loving wife Molley Fitchett during her natural life & at her death I give to my grandson Daniel Fitchett one Negro boy called Ben, also to my grandson Ralph Fitchett one boy called Jacob. I also give to my grand daughter Elizabeth Fitchett a girl called Vilet and to my grandson William Fitchett I give one boy by name Joe. I give to my grandson George Fitchett one boy named Sam; I give to Thomas D. It was on this date that her father John Satchell, wife Bridget, named a son-in-law John Fitchett in his will instead of her. He gave him what he has already and 2 shillings.¹

     Henry Fitchett Sr. was born circa 1734 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Henry was named in his father's will on 28 September 1761 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as son Henry and given 1 shilling in the will of John Fitchet, wife Sarah.¹ He inherited land in 1761 at tract N9, Cedar Grove, N'hamp Co, VA. In 1687 Daniel and Margaret Neech sold 40 acres of tract N9 to Joshua Fitchett. In 1688 George Frizzell sold 60 acres of tract N9 to Joshua Fitchett and this became merged with the 40 acres Fitchett had bought from Neech. In 1710 Fitchett left to wife Esther and then to son John. In 1671 the will of John Fitchett (wife Sarah) did not mention land but it may have been entailed and thus have passed to a son Henry. In 1800 Henry and Ann Fitchett of Norfolk sold 28 acres to Southy Spady and 98 acres to William Jarvis.² He married (-----) (-----) circa 1762. Henry Fitchett Sr. died before 11 November 1766 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Henry Fitchet was granted to Thomas Underhill. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Thomas Fitchet was granted to Henry Fitchet. I give to my son George P. Fitchett the land whereon he now lives. The money that I have paid to John Eyre for the land whereon my son Nathaniel P. Fitchett now resides, I give to my said son Nathaniel P. Fitchett. I give to my son John R. Fitchett the land whereon I now reside. I lend the land whereon Ralph D. Fitchett now resides to my daughter Mary Fitchett and at her death to her heirs.      William Fitchett was born circa 1796 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ William was named in his father's will on 19 March 1808 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as son William Fitchett (under 20) in the will of Joshua Fitchett Jr., wife Lukey. He was given 1 mare called Polly, his saddle & bridle, Negro woman Old Tabby a walnut chest when he arrives at 20 years of age.¹

     Joshua D. Fitchett was born circa 1780 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ He married Polly Dixon on 25 July 1801 at Northampton Co, VA. Severn Savage was the security on the M.L.B. of Joshua Fitchett Jr. and Polly Dixon.² Joshua witnessed a will on 19 March 1808 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that Joshua D. Fitchett, William Kendall & John Goffigon witnessed the will of Joshua Fitchett Jr., wife Lukey.¹ He died before 10 April 1810 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Joshua D. Fitchett was granted to William Costin. Appraisers: William Jarvis, Benjamin Griffith, Joshua Fitchett and Arthur Simkins.      (-----) Hinman (Hinman?) was born circa 1690. As of circa 1710,her married name was Fitchett. She married Witherington Fitchett I, son of Joshua Fitchett I and Esther (-----), circa 1711.

     John Fitchett was born circa 1720 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ John was named in his father's will on 4 November 1727 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as son John Fitchett in the will of Weatherington Fitchett, wife no name. He was given all my land after the death of my wife & privilege for my 3 daughters to live & use the same until marriage.¹ He was named in a division of land in 1742 at tract A126, Bloxom, Acc Co, VA. In 1710 Joshua Fitchett of N'hamp County left the 200 acres to his sons Witherington and Thomas. In 1728 Weatherington Fitchett (wife no named) left his land to his son John, and finally in 1742 this John, as heir of Weatherington, and Salathiel Fitchett, as heir of Thomas Fitchett of N'hamp County, formally divided the land, the former getting the north part. In 1774 Salathiel Fitchett, wife Shady, left to his son William, but five years later he and his wife Anne sold as 60 acres to another Salathiel Fitchett. In 1787 he and his wife Margaret, then living in Worcester County, MD, resold to John Fitchett. In 1782 John Fitchett left to his daughters, Anne Howard, widow of Solomon, and Esther Silverthorne. Disposition of Esther's part was not noted, but in 1789 Ann Howard sold her 50 acres to Selby Simpson, who resold to William Young Sr.² He married (-----) (-----) circa 1750.² John Fitchett was security on the administration of an estate on 26 December 1758 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Billings Britt was granted to Abraham Riggs with John Fitchet security.³ John was named in his brother's will on 18 April 1764 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as John Fitchett, a brother of Mary Fitchett, in the will of Withertun Fitchett.⁴ John made a will on 13 October 1781 at Accomack Co, VA.      Rachel Fitchett was born circa 1714 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ Rachel was named as an heir on 22 September 1722 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as Rachell Fitchett (no relationship shown) in the will of Elizabeth Hinman, widow of Richard Hinman. (NOTE: Weatherington Fitchett was a witness and everyone else named in the will seemed to be children or grandchildren.).² Rachel was named in her father's will on 4 November 1727 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as daughter Rachel (unmarried) in the will of Weatherington Fitchett, wife no name.¹

     Tabitha Fitchett was born circa 1716 at Accomack Co, VA.² Tabitha was named in her father's will on 4 November 1727 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as a duaghter, no name, in the will of Witherington Fitchett.² Tabitha was named in her brother's will on 18 April 1764 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as Tabitha Fitchett in the will of Withertun Fitchett.³ Tabitha was named in her sister-in-law's will on 12 April 1784 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as Tabitha Fitchett in the will of Comfort Fitchett.⁴ Tabitha witnessed a will on 2 February 1796 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as Thomas Evans, George Young & Tabitha Fitchett witnessed the will of Jonathan Mears.⁵

     Mary Fitchett was born circa 1718 at Accomack Co, VA.² Mary was named in her father's will on 4 November 1727 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as a duaghter, no name, in the will of Witherington Fitchett.² Mary was named in her brother's will on 18 April 1764 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as Mary Fitchett in the will of Withertun Fitchett.³

     Elizabeth Fitchett (Fitchett?) was born circa 1740 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ Elizabeth witnessed a will on 18 December 1765 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that William Young Sr., Elizabeth Fitchet & Ann Hinman witnessed the will of Bayly Hinman, wife Ann.¹

     Shady (-----) was born circa 1734.¹ As of circa 1750,her married name was Fitchett.¹ She married Salathiel Fitchett Sr., son of Thomas Fitchett and Cleare (-----), circa 1750.¹ Shady was named in her husband's will on 13 January 1767 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as wife Shady in the will of Salathiel Fitchett.¹ She was named in her husband's estate settlement on 28 January 1805 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as Shady Fitchett the mother of Salathiel, Thomas & Severn Fitchett in the settlement of Salathiel Fitchett Sr.²
