Marriner with 1 tith on Mr. Burton's list.2 He gave a deposition on 20 March 1694/95 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as George Mariner aged about 23 years when gave the following deposition: Sometime in October 1693, George was at the house of Jno. Prettiman, his "father-in-law" (which could mean step-father), when John Bloxum agreed to pay 30 lbs tobacco per head to winter cattle. Signed and sworn in open court on 20 March 1694/95, by George (W) Mariner.1 On 18 Dec 1695 George Marriner petitioned that he had given security for his good behavior at the last court; he had "since well demeaned himself" and asked to be discharged. No objections were raised, so it was granted with him paying court costs.3 On 18 Dec 1695 Thomas Wilson sued George Marriner for 900 lbs tobacco. Since Henry Allin had been bail for Marriner's appearance, it was ordered that Allin pay the amount awarded by the court if Marriner did not come to the next court.4 On 2 Mar 1696/97 George Marriner admitted owing Mr. Gervas Bagaly 200 lbs tobacco to be paid with the costs of the suit.5 On 6 Apr 1697 Henry Allin, Sr., was granted a judgment of 409 lbs tobacco against George Marriner. (Side note: Served on 1 February 1696/98, by Jno. West, subsheriff.).6 On 3 Feb 1702/03 Capt. Tully Robinson sued George Marriner, who was bound with Edward Bagwell (Indian) to pay 3 pounds money to Robinson. Marriner, who asked for proof of the debt, refused to say if the bill produced was his own act and deed. The court therefore ordered that Marriner pay the debt with the costs of the suit. (NOTE: This was his last appearance in Accomack County order books.).7
