She was shown as my grandson Thomas S. Stoakly in the will of Benjamin Stratton Sr.2 He married Hannah Scott, daughter of William Scott Jr. and Betty White, on 31 July 1798 at Northampton Co, VA. Wm. Scott Sr. was the security on the M.L.B. of Thomas S. Stoakley and Hannah Scott.1

Stockley in the will of Charles Stockley.1 As of 29 May 1805,her married name was Holmes.3 She married Dr. Thompson Holmes on 29 May 1805 at Accomack Co, VA. Richard D. Bayly was the security on the M.L.B. of Thompson Holmes and Elizabeth A. Stockly.3 Elizabeth was named as an heir on 29 March 1810 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that it was recorded that Nehemiah Stockly, Ann B. Stockly, Charles T. Stockly, Harriot Stockly, Ayres Stockly and Elizabeth, wife of Thompson Holmes are the children and heirs of Charles Stockly, late of this county, dec'd.4 She sold land in 1812 at Accomack Co, VA. Whitelaw shows that Edmund Allen left all his lands (tract A103) to a daughter Margaret, who married Charles Stockley, and from them the titles passed to their daughter Elizabeth A. Stockley, who married Dr. Thompson Holmes. Then in 1812 the Holmes' sold the 100 acres of original Dix land east of the highway to Charles Rew.2

     Ayres Stockley was born circa 1785 at Accomack Co, VA.1 Ayres was named in his father's will on 16 March 1805 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as my son Ayres Stockley (under age 14) in the will of Charles Stockley.1 Ayres was named as an heir on 29 March 1810 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that it was recorded that Nehemiah Stockly, Ann B. Stockly, Charles T. Stockly, Harriot Stockly, Ayres Stockly and Elizabeth, wife of Thompson Holmes are the children and heirs of Charles Stockly, late of this county, dec'd.2 He died before 27 February 1815 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that the settlement of the estate of Col. Charles Stockley was recorded and it showed cash paid to Mrs. Stockley, widow of Ayres.3

     Edmund Allen was born circa 1740 at Accomack Co, VA.1 He married Tabitha (-----) circa 1762.1 Edmund made a will on 14 October 1767 at Accomack Co, VA. To daughter Margaret Allen whole estate both in Virginia & Maryland except the planta where I now live which I give to my wife Tabitha Allen during her widow Should my daughter die without issue during the life time of Stephen, Edmund or John Allen, children of my brother John Allen, then the estate left my daughter Margaret to be equally divided between them. Wife Exec. Witt: James Henry, James Berry, Major Gibbons. Whitelaw shows that Edmund Allen left all his lands (tract A103) to a daughter Margaret, who married Charles Stockley, and from them the titles passed to their daughter Elizabeth A. Stockley, who married Dr. Thompson Holmes.1,2 He died before 26 January 1768 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that his will was probated.1

It was in this year that Samuel Beach agreed to buy from Nathaniel Bradford 400 acres of land known as Cottels Ridge.2,3 He was on the list of tithables at Accomack Co, VA, between 1674 and 1695.3 He married Sarah (-----) circa 1675.3 Samuel made a will on 25 November 1700 at Accomack Co, VA. To son Samuel plantation where I now live containing 150 acres. To son Ben: Beech plantation where my son Thomas lately lived containing 150 acres. To wife (no name) 100 acres at the head of the land given my son Ben: Wife Exec.1 He sold land in 1701 at Accomack Co, VA. It was in this year that Samuel Beech and his wife Sarah sold 100 acres of the Cottels Ridge land to Samuel Benson.3,2 He died before 1 February 1703 at Accomack Co, VA.      Spencer Coleburn was born circa 1727 at Accomack Co, VA.1 Spencer was named in his father's will on 13 January 1751 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as son Spencer Coleburn in the will of William Coleburn, wife Temperance and named heir-at-law at probate. According to Whitelaw William Coleburn and his wife Temperance left part of tract A46 to his son Spencer under certain conditions, otherwise it was to go to his son William. The records following are not clear, and it is believed that Spencer retained the land, but in 1778 he died intestate and no record was found of his wife or children. Then in 1788 a Revell Coleburn sold 100 acres which had been left to him by his father (no record found). The buyer was Zorobabel Kellam, whose daughter Sabra married Thomas Coleburn.2,3 He bought land in 1757 at Accomack Co, VA. It was in this year that Spencer Coleburn bought 40 acres of tract A48 from Elijah Chance and in 1774 Elijah and Leah Chance sold him 8 acres more; in 1772 Coleburn had bought 12 acres from Jacob Chance. Then in 1786 Revel Coleburn, son of Spencer, with his wife Margaret, sold 70 acres to Reuben Beach.4 He married (-----) (-----) circa 1760. Spencer Coleburn died before 24 November 1778 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Spencer Coleburn was granted to Abel Upshur & Arthur Teackle with John Teackle & John Upshur securities.5

Ordered that William Coleburn Orphan of William Coleburn be bound by the Church Wardens of Accomack Parish Aged Sixteen Years till Lawfull Age to Philip Whitchart to learn the Trade of a Taylor the said Phillip first giving Security for the Performance of the Indentures.2 He bought land in 1763 at Accomack Co, VA. It was in this year that John and Catharine Coleburn were joined by Stratton and Scarburgh Burton in a sale of 100 acres of tract A64 between Melfa and Onley to William Coleburn. For reasons not clear, he deed it back to them, but the next year it was resold to him.4 He married Rachel (-----) circa 1764.4 William Coleburn sold land in 1766 at Accomack Co, VA. It was in this year that William and Rachel Coleburn sold 80 aces of tract A64 to Benston Bradford who later added to his holdings.4 William was named as administrator of an estate on 1 July 1767 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Temperance Coleburn was granted to William Coleburn with John Coleburn security.5 William made a will on 27 November 1790 at Accomack Co, VA. To friend Betty Burton. To son George Coleburn part of my land starting at a red oak at Spiers line. To son William Coleburn the remaining part of my land. Son James Coleburn. Daughter Nancy Coleburn. James & Nancy Coleburn residual legatees & Exrs. Witt: Thomas Coleburn, Isaac Powell, Benjamin Bradford.6 He died before 28 December 1790 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that his will was probated.6

     Revell Coleburn was born on 16 September 1764 at Accomack Co, VA.1 He married Peggy Polk on 7 September 1785 at Accomack Co, VA. William Polk was the security on the M.L.B. of Revel Coleburn and Peggy Polk.2 Revell Coleburn sold land in 1786 at Accomack Co, VA. In1757 Spencer Coleburn bought 40 acres of tract A48 from Elijah Chance and in 1774 Elijah and Leah Chance sold him 8 acres more; in 1772 Coleburn had bought 12 acres from Jacob Chance. Then in 1786 Revel Coleburn, son of Spencer, with his wife Margaret, sold 70 acres to Reuben Beach.3 He sold land in 1788 at Accomack Co, VA. According to Whitelaw William Coleburn and his wife Temperance left part of tract A46 to his son Spencer under certain conditions, otherwise it was to go to his son William. The records following are not clear, and it is believed that Spencer retained the land, but in 1778 he died intestate and no record was found of his wife or children. Then in 1788 a Revell Coleburn sold 100 acres which had been left to him by his father (no record found). The buyer was Zorobabel Kellam, whose daughter Sabra married Thomas Coleburn.4
He died on 24 February 1844 at North Carolina at age 79.1

     Nancy Coleburn was born circa 1798 at Accomack Co, VA.1 She was named in the settlement of her father's estate on 24 August 1812 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that George Warner Jr. acknowledged receipt from Samuel Crippen (admr of the estate of William Coleburn) for £43.10.7 for my wife's 1/3 part of her husband's estate & also £87.1.2 which is in full for Robert Coleburn & Nancy Coleburn, from their father's estate.1

     Ann T. Coleburn was born circa 1793 at Accomack Co, VA.1 She was named in a division of land in 1816 at Custis Neck, Acc Co, VA. It was in this year that the family land of James Coleburn who died in 1795 was surveyed as 398 acres for a division, in which his son James received 130 acres next to Bagwell Bull; his daughter Nancy, the wife of Henry S. Copes, received the next 128 acres; and his son Robert received the eastern part of 139 acres. This neck portion of the Great Neck of the Matomkins is now called Custis Neck.2 As of 24 January 1816,her married name was Copes.1 She married Henry Savage Copes, son of Hancock Copes and Elizabeth (182) Custis, on 24 January 1816 at Accomack Co, VA. William R. Custis was the security on the M.L.B. of Henry S. Copes and Ann T. Coleburn of Jms.1
