Scott and Elizabeth Nichols, on 24 November 1829 at Northampton Co, VA. George F. Wilkins was the security on the M.L.B. of Thomas S. Stoakley and Sarah Ann Scott, daughter of Thomas G. Scott & ward of George F. Wilkins. They were married on 26 Nov 1829.^1,2

George F. Wilkins was the security on the M.L.B. of Thomas S. Stoakley and Sarah Ann Scott, daughter of Thomas G. Scott & ward of George F. Wilkins. They were married on 26 Nov 1829.^1,2 Sarah Ann Scott died on 23 December 1880 at Bloomington, N'hamp Co, VA, at age 69. Bible records show that Sarah Ann Stoakley died at ther residence "Bloomington" on the evening of 23 Dec 1880. She was the widow of Thomas S. Stoakley, Esqr. & daughter of Thos. G. & Elizabeth Nichols; age 67 years, 9 months & 17 days.¹

     Thomas G. Scott was born circa 1780 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ He married Elizabeth Nichols circa 1810 at Northampton Co, VA.¹

     William Stratton Stockley was born on 16 September 1831 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ He died on 11 July 1912 at Stoakley Place, Cheriton, N'hamp Co, VA, at age 80.¹

     Hannah Ellen Stockley was born on 8 March 1835 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ As of 28 May 1867,her married name was Kendall.¹ She married William H. Kendall on 28 May 1867 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as Hannah Ellen Stoakley, daughter of Thos. S. & Sarah Ann Stoakley his wife who married William H. Kendall in the Bloomington parlor in the afternoon of 28 May 1867. The Ceremony was performed by the Rev. Mr. Thomas, pastor of Holms Presbyterian Church.¹ Hannah Ellen Stockley died on 5 February 1882 at age 46. She was shown as Hannah Ellen Stoakley, beloved wife of William H. Kendall, who died 5 Feb 1882. She was born 8 Mar 1835; aged 46 years, 10 months & 27 days.¹

     Thomas J. Stockley was born on 14 June 1848 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ He married Sallie Simkins Dalby on 21 January 1871 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Thomas J. Stockley died on 1 June 1908 at Newport News, Warrick Co, VA, at age 59.¹

     Elizabeth 'Bettie' Nichols Stockley was born on 15 September 1852 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ She died on 10 April 1909 at Philadelphia, PA, at age 56. She was shown as Bettie Nicholas Stoakley, daughter of Thomas S. & Sarah Ann his wife, who died in a hospital in Philadelphia, aged 58 years.¹

     Polly Joynes was born circa 1810 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ She married John Stockley, son of Charles B. Stockley and Drusilla Andrews, on 30 July 1839 at Northampton Co, VA. Robt. A. Joynes was the security on the M.L.B. of his daughter Polly Joynes and John Stockley, son of Charles B. Stockley, who was also security. It was on this date that it was recorded that Nehemiah Stockly, Ann B. Stockly, Charles T. Whitelaw shows that Edmund Allen left all his lands (tract A103) to a daughter Margaret, who married Charles Stockley, and from them the titles passed to their daughter Elizabeth A. Stockley, who married Dr. Thompson Holmes. Then in 1812 the Holmes' sold the 100 acres of original Dix land east of the highway to Charles Rew.²

It was on this date that the settlement of the estate of Col. Charles Stockley was recorded and it showed cash paid to Mrs. Stockley, widow of Ayres.³

     Edmund Allen was born circa 1740 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ He married Tabitha (-----) circa 1762.¹ Edmund made a will on 14 October 1767 at Accomack Co, VA. To daughter Margaret Allen whole estate both in Virginia & Maryland except the planta where I now live which I give to my wife Tabitha Allen during her widow Should my daughter die without issue during the life time of Stephen, Edmund or John Allen, children of my brother John Allen, then the estate left my daughter Margaret to be equally divided between them. Wife Exec. Witt: James Henry, James Berry, Major Gibbons. Whitelaw shows that Edmund Allen left all his lands (tract A103) to a daughter Margaret, who married Charles Stockley, and from them the titles passed to their daughter Elizabeth A. She was shown as my daughter Margaret Allen in the will of Edmund Allen, wife Tabitha.      Charles Stockley was born circa 1788 at Accomack Co, VA. Charles was named in his mother's will on 10 December 1821 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as son Charles Stockley in the will of Peggy Stockley.¹

Her daughter Patty Stockley was to keep Thomas' part until she thinks he is able to take care of it.¹

It was in this year that Samuel Beach agreed to buy from Nathaniel Bradford 400 acres of land known as Cottels Ridge.^2,3 He was on the list of tithables at Accomack Co, VA, between 1674 and 1695.³ He married Sarah (-----) circa 1675.³ Samuel made a will on 25 November 1700 at Accomack Co, VA. To son Samuel plantation where I now live containing 150 acres. To son Ben: Beech plantation where my son Thomas lately lived containing 150 acres.      Solomon Coleburn was born on 19 April 1684 at Manokin, Somerset Co, MD.² He married Rachel Handy circa 1710.¹ Solomon Coleburn died on 7 March 1749 at age 64.²

     Rachel Handy was born circa 1693.¹ As of circa 1710,her married name was Coleburn.¹ She married Solomon Coleburn, son of Capt. William Coleburn II and Ann Revell, circa 1710.¹ Rachel Handy died in 1771.¹

     Temperance (-----) was born circa 1700. As of circa 1725,her married name was Coleburn.¹ She married William Coleburn, son of Robert Coleburn I and Rebecca Revell, circa 1725.¹ Temperance was named in her husband's will on 13 January 1751 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as wife (no name) in the will of William Coleburn and as Temperance Coleburn, widow of the testator when she qualified at probate.¹ She died before 1 July 1767 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Temperance Coleburn was granted to William Coleburn with John Coleburn security.²

     Spencer Coleburn was born circa 1727 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ Spencer was named in his father's will on 13 January 1751 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as son Spencer Coleburn in the will of William Coleburn, wife Temperance and named heir-at-law at probate. According to Whitelaw William Coleburn and his wife Temperance left part of tract A46 to his son Spencer under certain conditions, otherwise it was to go to his son William. The records following are not clear, and it is believed that Spencer retained the land, but in 1778 he died intestate and no record was found of his wife or children. Then in 1788 a Revell Coleburn sold 100 acres which had been left to him by his father (no record found). The buyer was Zorobabel Kellam, whose daughter Sabra married Thomas Coleburn.^2,3 He bought land in 1757 at Accomack Co, VA. It was in this year that Spencer Coleburn bought 40 acres of tract A48 from Elijah Chance and in 1774 Elijah and Leah Chance sold him 8 acres more; in 1772 Coleburn had bought 12 acres from Jacob Chance. Then in 1786 Revel Coleburn, son of Spencer, with his wife Margaret, sold 70 acres to Reuben Beach.⁴ He married (-----) (-----) circa 1760. Spencer Coleburn died before 24 November 1778 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Spencer Coleburn was granted to Abel Upshur & Arthur Teackle with John Teackle & John Upshur securities.⁵

     Susannah Coleburn was born circa 1733 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ Susannah was named in her father's will on 13 January 1751 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as daughter Susannah in the will of William Coleburn, wife Temperance.²

     William Coleburn was born in 1741 at Accomack Co, VA.² William was named in his father's will on 13 January 1751 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as son William in the will of William Coleburn, wife Temperance.³ He was bound out on 26 January 1757 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. Ordered that William Coleburn Orphan of William Coleburn be bound by the Church Wardens of Accomack Parish Aged Sixteen Years till Lawfull Age to Philip Whitchart to learn the Trade of a Taylor the said Phillip first giving Security for the Performance of the Indentures.² He bought land in 1763 at Accomack Co, VA. It was in this year that John and Catharine Coleburn were joined by Stratton and Scarburgh Burton in a sale of 100 acres of tract A64 between Melfa and Onley to William Coleburn. For reasons not clear, he deed it back to them, but the next year it was resold to him.⁴ He married Rachel (-----) circa 1764.⁴ William Coleburn sold land in 1766 at Accomack Co, VA. It was in this year that William and Rachel Coleburn sold 80 aces of tract A64 to Benston Bradford who later added to his holdings.⁴ William was named as administrator of an estate on 1 July 1767 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Temperance Coleburn was granted to William Coleburn with John Coleburn security.⁵ William made a will on 27 November 1790 at Accomack Co, VA. To friend Betty Burton. To son George Coleburn part of my land starting at a red oak at Spiers line. To son William Coleburn the remaining part of my land. Son James Coleburn. Daughter Nancy Coleburn. James & Nancy Coleburn residual legatees & Exrs. Witt: Thomas Coleburn, Isaac Powell, Benjamin Bradford.⁶ He died before 28 December 1790 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that his will was probated.⁶

     John Coleburn was born circa 1735 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ John was named in his father's will on 13 January 1751 at Accomack Co, VA.      Joice Ames was born circa 1775 at Accomack Co, VA.² As of circa 1793,her married name was Groten.³ She married Jonathan Groten, son of William Groten II (carpenter) and Amy (-----), circa 1793.³ Joice was named in her husband's will on 1 December 1794 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as wife Joyce in the will of Jonathan Groten. She was to have his land in tract A51.³ She married Samuel Coleburn, son of John Coleburn and Catherine 'Catrin' (-----), circa 1796 at Accomack Co, VA.⁴ As of circa 1796,her married name was Coleburn.⁴ Joice was named as administrator of an estate on 24 June 1805 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Samuel Coleburn was granted to Joice Coleburn with George Coleburn & Capt. William Stran securities.¹ She was named as the executor of a will on 28 March 1811 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as Joice Coleburn and named Extr in the will of Isaac Coleburn.⁵ She died on 22 December 1854 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as Joice Coleburn who died of old age at the age of 79 years. She was the daughter of Levin Ames, born in Acc Co and unmarried. Sam'l C. Coleburn gave the information.²

William Polk was the security on the M.L.B. of Revel Coleburn and Peggy Polk.² Revell Coleburn sold land in 1786 at Accomack Co, VA.      Peggy Polk was born on 24 January 1768 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ As of 7 September 1785,her married name was Coleburn.¹ She married Revell Coleburn, son of Spencer Coleburn and (-----) (-----), on 7 September 1785 at Accomack Co, VA. William Polk was the security on the M.L.B. of Revel Coleburn and Peggy Polk.¹

     John Coleburn was born circa 1754 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ John was named in his father's will on 24 February 1776 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as my son John Coleburn in the will of John Coleburn, wife Catrin. He gave him the remaining part of my land I bought of Stratton Burton (tract A64) and 25 acres on Sedar Island and for want of heirs to my son Isaac.^1,3 He died circa 1780 at Accomack Co, VA. According to Whitelaw, son John died and his land went to his brother Isaac Coleburn.³

     Elizabeth Coleburn was born circa 1765 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ Elizabeth was named in her father's will on 24 February 1776 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as my daughter Elizabeth Coleburn in the will of John Coleburn, wife Catrin.¹

     Ann Coleburn was born circa 1767 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ Ann was named in her father's will on 24 February 1776 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as my daughter Ann Coleburn in the will of John Coleburn, wife Catrin.¹

     Catherine Coleburn was born circa 1790 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ As of 27 February 1806,her married name was Harmanson.² She married John H. Harmanson on 27 February 1806 at Northampton Co, VA.      Mary Coleburn was born circa 1780 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ As of before 1803,her married name was Dunton.¹ She married William Dunton before 1803.¹ Mary Coleburn sold land in 1803 at Accomack Co, VA. It was in this year that William Dunton and his wife Mary sold their part of tract A64 to James Ashby.¹

     William Dunton was born circa 1775.¹ He married Mary Coleburn, daughter of Thomas Coleburn and Sabra Kellam, before 1803.¹

     Mary (-----) was born circa 1765. She married George Coleburn, son of John Coleburn and (-----) (-----), circa 1785. As of circa 1785,her married name was Coleburn. As of 28 October 1816,her married name was Stewart.¹ Mary (-----) married Henry Stewart, son of Andrew Stewart, on 28 October 1816 at Accomack Co, VA. George Beach was the security on the M.L.B. of Henry Stewart, widower and Mary Coleburn, widow of George.¹

     Capt. William Coleburn was born circa 1767 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ He married Elizabeth James, daughter of Robert James and Mary Savage, circa 1790 at Accomack Co, VA. In 1796 William James left his part of track A121 to his sisters Nancy, Mary, and Betty James, and Elizabeth the wife of Captain William Coulburn.² William was named in his father's will on 27 November 1790 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as son William Coleburn in the will of William Coleburn, friend Betty Burton. He was given the remaining part of my land. He left the other part of his land to son George starting at a red oak at Spiers line.¹ He died before 25 June 1810 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of William Coleburn was granted to Samuel Crippen with Savage Crippen & Jonathan Mears securities.³ He estate was settled on 31 August 1812 at Accomack Co, VA. 10 Apr 1810 (Sale), 14 Dec 1818 (Sale), Oct 1811 (Order to Audit), 31 Aug 1812 (Rec'd) - Buyers: Abel Coleburn & widow.      Ann T. Coleburn was born circa 1793 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ She was named in a division of land in 1816 at Custis Neck, Acc Co, VA. It was in this year that the family land of James Coleburn who died in 1795 was surveyed as 398 acres for a division, in which his son James received 130 acres next to Bagwell Bull; his daughter Nancy, the wife of Henry S. Copes, received the next 128 acres; and his son Robert received the eastern part of 139 acres. This neck portion of the Great Neck of the Matomkins is now called Custis Neck.² As of 24 January 1816,her married name was Copes.¹ She married Henry Savage Copes, son of Hancock Copes and Elizabeth (182) Custis, on 24 January 1816 at Accomack Co, VA.
