He leaves one living daughter, Mrs. Wright of Baltimore and another daughter, Mrs. Taylor, died a few years ago leaving an only daughter surviving. Mr. Eyre was educated at the University of Virginia. He spent the greater part of his life here, but moved with his family to Baltimore a number of years ago and only spent his summers at Eyrehall after that. This later place he inherited from his uncle John Eyre, who was one of the most respected and beloved citizens of Northampton in his day. Mr. Eyre was a man of the highest sense of integrity and had little patience with the can't and time coming of the present day. He was one the wealthiest citizen of the Eastern Shore of Virginia, much of his money being invested in stocks and bonds elsewhere. The funeral over his remains will take place at Eyrehall, Sunday afternoon, July 12th, at 5 o'clock p.m. with interment in the family graveyard.2,11 Severn was buried at Eyre Hall, N'hamp Co, VA. His tombstone shows him as Severn Eyre, son of W.L. & M.S., 15 Aug 1831 - 9 Jul 1914.2 He left land in 1922 at tract N43, Eyre Hall, N'hamp Co, VA. It was in this year after the death of Severn Eyre, title passed jointly to his daughter Mary, the wife of W.H. DeCourcy Wright, and to his granddaughter Margaret T., the daughter of his daughter Grace Eyre and her husband Richard B. Taylor, and now the wife of Henry DuP. Baldwin. A survey in this year showed 924 acres left, Severn Eyre having sold 315 acres in 1909 to John W. Nottingham, it being the south part west of the highway. By a family division, Mrs. Wright took the major part of the land while Mrs. Baldwin received the house and adjacent acreage.5
