     John Carpenter was born circa 1770 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ He married Adah Floyd, daughter of Berry Floyd and Esther Dalby, on 14 November 1796 at Northampton Co, VA. Wm. Roberts Jr. was the security on the M.L.B. of John Carpenter and Adah Floyd. Mathew Floyd gave consent. (NOTE: It is not clear why Adah needed consent, since she was named in her father's will in 1771 and would have been at least age 25 at the time of her marriage. Maybe this is a different Adah Floyd.).¹

He was shown as son William Floyd in the will of James Floyd. He was to be guardian to his brother Berry.¹ William was named in his sister's will on 5 July 1824 at Northampton Co, VA.      James M. Floyd was born circa 1792 at Northampton Co, VA.² James was named in his father's will on 1 October 1822 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as son James Floyd in the will of James Floyd.² He died in December 1830. On 10 Jan 1831 in N'hamp County administration on the estate of James M. Floyd was granted to Thomas J. Nottingham. It appearing to the court that James M. Floyd was lost at sea during the late storm in December, Thomas J. Nottingham was granted administration on the estate. Bond $1,500.      Matthew Warren was born circa 1720 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ He married Frances (-----) circa 1745.¹ Matthew Warren died before 9 June 1752 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Matthew Warren was granted to Frances Warren with Robert Warren & Michael Nottingham securities on a £400 bond.¹

     Samuel Floyd was born circa 1760 at Northampton Co, VA. This John Floyd's parents are unknown at this time. He is placed as a son of John (80) Floyd since all other possibilities seem to have been eliminated. That this Samuel Floyd is a son of John (80) Floyd is based only on the fact that John (80) Floyd had a brother named Samuel (82) Floyd and that no will or adm was found for John (80) Floyd to confirm or deny this assumption. He married Sarah Chance on 20 April 1787 at Northampton Co, VA. Eyres Stokley was the security on the M.L.B. of Samuel Flood and Sarah Chance.¹

     Sarah Chance was born circa 1765 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ As of 20 April 1787,her married name was Floyd.¹ She married Samuel Floyd, son of John (80) Floyd (s/o Chas), on 20 April 1787 at Northampton Co, VA. Eyres Stokley was the security on the M.L.B. of Samuel Flood and Sarah Chance.¹

     Sophia Rogers Floyd was born circa 1781 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Sophia made a will on 16 February 1801 at Northampton Co, VA. To my cousin Sally I. Brickhouse 1st choice of my gounds or habits and petticoats. To my cousin Polly N. Brickhouse the next choice. To my cousin George Brickhouse son of George £10.      Lavinia Ann Nottingham was born circa 1811 at Northampton Co, VA.³ As of 23 December 1829,her married name was Floyd.¹ She married Berry Floyd, son of Capt. James Floyd Snr and Catherine (495) Kellam, on 23 December 1829 at Northampton Co, VA. Severn Nottingham was the security on the M.L.B. of Berry Floyd and Lavinia Nottingham, daugher of Levin Nottingham dec'd & ward of Benja N. Listed with her were the following Floyds: Ellen, age 17; Catherine, age 16; Victor, age 12; & Joseph, age 10.³ She died on 21 July 1887 at Richmond, VA.⁵

     James Floyd Junr was born circa 1770 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ He was on the personal property tax list in 1800 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as James Floyd Junr. with no tithables shown.² He died before 8 July 1805 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of James Floyd was granted to John Knight. There was no order to appraise the estate and no further administration records. (NOTE: It is assumed that he was the brother-in-law of the John Knight who married Mollie Floyd, daugter of Charles Floyd.).¹

     Joseph K. Weisiger was born circa 1800.¹ He married Catherine Stockley Floyd, daughter of John Kendall Floyd and Ann Stockley Teackle, on 23 December 1846 at Northampton Co, VA. John S. Parker was the security on the M.L.B. of Joseph K. Weisiger and Mrs. Cath. S. Jones. They were married on 24 Dec 1846.¹

     Thomas K. Floyd was born circa 1798 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Thomas was named in his grandmother's will on 31 December 1810 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as my grandchild Thomas K. Floyd in the will of Esther Ellegood.¹ He died before 12 March 1832 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Thomas K. Floyd was granted to Samuel L. Floyd. Bond $400. Appraisers: Samuel P. Fisher, William W. Cutler, John R. Dunton and Tully R. Wise. No administration records.² Thomas was named in his sister's will on 5 October 1840 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as my dec'd brother Thos Floyd in the will of Eliza A. Floyd.      Elizabeth A. Floyd was born circa 1802 at Northampton Co, VA.² Elizabeth was named in her grandmother's will on 31 December 1810 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as my grandchild Elizabeth Floyd in the will of Esther Ellegood.² Elizabeth made a will on 5 October 1840 at Northampton Co, VA. I desire that my relation, William S. Floyd, who I hereby appoint executor shall receive the debt or debts due me by Tully R. Wise & dispose of the amount in the following way. I desire that the claims due Dr. Edmund W. P. Downing, Dr. Jno M. Henderson for professional services to my deceased brother Thos Floyd shall be paid, also I desire the claim due Dr. Jno Ker, Dr. Andrews of Norfolk and Dr. Seldon of Norfolk for services to her deceased brother Thos Floyd be paid. The remainder of the estate to her niece Ellen S. Floyd after giving her cousins Catherine S. Jones, Wm S. Floyd, John K. Floyd, Anne E. Parker and Charles J. Floyd each the sum of eight dollars to purchase for each a breast pin as a memorial to them of me. Signed, Eliza A. Floyd. Witnesses: Elizabeth Fitchett, Susan Fitchett and Jno S.      Ellen S. Floyd was born circa 1835 at Northampton Co, VA.² Ellen was named in her aunt's will on 5 October 1840 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as my niece Ellen S. Floyd in the will of Eliza A. Floyd.¹ Ellen was listed with another family in the census of 1850 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as Ellen Floyd, age 15 with personal property valued at $250 in HH#227 headed by Tully R. Wise, a 42 year old tavern keeper.² As of 1 March 1853,her married name was Nottingham.³ She married Leonard J. Nottingham, son of Leonard Bell Nottingham and Emeline Waddey, on 1 March 1853 at Hungars Parish, N'hamp Co, VA. John S. Parker guardian of Miss Ellen S. Floyd gave consent for her to marry Leonard J. Nottingham. They were married on 2 Mar 1853.³

     John K. Floyd was born on 1 March 1809 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as Jno. Floyd, the 2nd son of Jno K. Floyd & Ann S. Floyd.² He died on 10 July 1811 at Northampton Co, VA, at age 2. He was shown as Jno. Floyd, who died 10 July 1811, aged 2 years, 4 months & 9 days.²

     Charles J. Floyd was born on 24 November 1822 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as Charles Floyd, the 5th son of Jno K. Floyd & Ann S. Floyd.² Charles was named in his cousin's will on 5 October 1840 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as my cousin Charles J. Floyd in the will of Eliza A. Floyd.¹ He died in May 1848 at Northampton Co, VA, at age 25.²

     Dr. Major Brickhouse was born circa 1762 at Northampton Co, VA.² Major made a will on 20 February 1806 at Northampton Co, VA. My body to be buried under my biggest cherri tree as near my old friend William Thomas as convenient. It is my will that my Bridge Town lot shall be sold & the land & mill I call pizel point that I bought of Isaac Dalby & all other property I possess except my land I bought of the Griffins adjoining Salley Satchell, Charles Snead, Patrick Harmanson & Hungars Creek which I lend unto Mary Mifflin a Negro emancipated by Thomas Parramore Jr. and now my housekeeper as long as she lives. I also give the said Mary one shilling a day as long as she lives. I also except my clothes which I give unto a Negro Samuel which was emancipated by Aunt Ann Brickhouse & now lives with me. I also except my Negro girl called little or Young Mary which I give unto Ann Turner, formerly Ann Dunton provided she will pay George Bell ninety dollars for twenty pounds I now owe him. I lend unto William Powell & Zorobabel Henderson Jr. one thousand dollars each for seven years. I also give unto Rickards Dunton Jr one suit of clothes hat and shoes and when his (Rickards Dunton Jr) son arrives at the age of twenty one I give him the two thousand dollars above lent to Powell & Henderson & should there be any left after paying my just debts I give the balance to be equally divided between Nathaniel Holland's oldest sons, George Holt's sons and Southey Webb's sons. I also except where Southey Webb house and incloser which I lend to him his life provided he lives on it himself but if he moves off he must not come on it no more. I also except my mare called Jane Garlin which I lend unto Teackle Matthews for four years but I give the present colt unto William Powell. I hope it may also be remembered that I think John Brickhouse Sen and those that has sprung from him or his heirs has got between one & two thousand pounds of my property by begging, stealing, fair promises or any & how either way they could now has told me that he will not give me any of the property he possesses (which I am certain that he can't pass what his father & his wife's father gave them & a compound interest) that I will except of. I therefore will not give John Brickhouse Sen nor any one that can heir from him one cent except Peggy Parker formerly Peggy Floyd & I give her all the money that John Brickhouse Sen who is my father by the laws of the land owes me. I hope it will also be known that if John Brickhouse Sen who is my lawful father had treated me as not only a child but as one honest man ought to have treated another I should not have made this or any other will and it is my will that if it should be interpreted that he the aforesaid John Brickhouse Sen or any of his heirs (Peggy Parker aforesaid excepted should by any error or default in my not knowing how to word this will come in for any part of my property & my will can't be so construed as to keep the aforesaid John Brickhouse Sen or his heirs from getting a part of my property I now possess in that case & in no other rather than the aforesaid John Brickhouse Sen or any of his heirs should have any of my property, I give it to be laid out in schooling the children in the poorhouse. It is my desire that Zorobabel Henderson & William Powell act as executors. She was shown as Peggy Parker, formerly Peggy Floyd, in the will of Major Brickhouse. He left his father John Brickhouse Senr nothing and wanted nothing he had to go to any of John Brickhouse's children or heirs, except Peggy Parker, formerly Peggy Floyd, and to her all the money that John Brickhouse Sen owes me.^3,1 Peggy was named in her grandfather's will on 24 September 1807 at Northampton Co, VA.      James Johnson Sr. was born circa 1780.¹ He married Susannah Elligood, daughter of Jonathan Elligood and Esther L. (138C) Kendall, on 25 May 1813 at Northampton Co, VA. Thos S. Satchell was the security on the M.L.B. of James Johnson Sr. and Susanna Elligood.¹

     James Elligood Johnson was born circa 1814 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ James was named in his mother's will on 8 November 1816 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as my son James Elligood Johnson (under 21) in the will of Susanna Johnson, widow.¹

     Catherine Elizabeth Nottingham was born circa 1810 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Catherine was named in her mother's will on 5 July 1824 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as daughter Catherine Elizabeth Nottingham (under 21) in the will of Nancy Nottingham, widow of Thomas.¹

     Patsy Floyd Nottingham was born circa 1812 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Patsy was named in her mother's will on 5 July 1824 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as daughter Patsy Floyd Nottingham (under 21) in the will of Nancy Nottingham, widow of Thomas.¹

     Critty Sarah Roberts was born circa 1834 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ Critty was named in her father's will on 21 June 1842 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as my daughter Critty Sarah Roberts (under age) in the will of Joshua K. Roberts, widower.¹

     (-----) (-----) was born circa 1765. She married John (196) Roberts, son of Joachim (80) Roberts and Sarah (50E) Bradford, circa 1790. As of circa 1790,her married name was Roberts.

     (-----) (-----) was born circa 1800.¹ As of circa 1820,her married name was Roberts.¹ She married John D. Roberts, son of John (196) Roberts and (-----) (-----), circa 1820.¹

     Mary Ann Roberts was born circa 1822 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ Mary was named in her uncle's will on 21 June 1842 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as Mary Anne Roberts, daughter of John D. Roberts, the son of my brother John Roberts, in the will of Joshua K. Roberts, widower.¹

     William H. Floyd was born circa 1810 at Northampton Co, VA. Him being a son of William Floyd and Frances Hallett is based on his middle initial "H" for Hallett and the fact that William Floyd said he had 9 children in his will, but all of them were not named.¹ He married Sarah Ann Stockley, daughter of Charles B. Stockley and Drusilla Andrews, on 23 September 1839 at Northampton Co, VA. Charles B. Stockley was the security on the M.L.B. of William H. Floyd and his daughter Sarah Ann Stockley. Geo. F. Wilkins as to William's age. They were married on 26 Sep 1839.¹ William was listed as a head of household in the census of 1840 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as Wm. Floyd a head of household. Listed with him were free white males: 1 "10 & under 15", 1 "20 & under 30"; free white females: 1 "20 & under 30"; free colored males: 1 "10 & under 24"; male slaves: 2 "under 10"; female slaves: 1 "under 10", 2 "36 & under 55"; 9 total; 5 "agriculture"; 2 "insane & idiots at private charge colored persons."² William was named in his father-in-law's will on 28 November 1841 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as Wm. H. Floyd in the will of Charles B. Stockley. He also named my daughter Sarah Floyd & her husband William Floyd.³ William witnessed a will on 8 October 1842 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that Mehaly Wingate, William H. Floyd and Denard Fitchett witnessed the will of William Pratt.⁴

     Sarah Ann Stockley was born circa 1818 at Northampton Co, VA.³ As of 23 September 1839,her married name was Floyd.¹ She married William H. Floyd, son of William Floyd Sr. and Frances Hallett, on 23 September 1839 at Northampton Co, VA. Charles B. Stockley was the security on the M.L.B. of William H. Floyd and his daughter Sarah Ann Stockley. Geo. F. Wilkins as to William's age. They were married on 26 Sep 1839.¹ Sarah was named in her father's will on 28 November 1841 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as my daughter Sarah Floyd & her husband William Floyd in the will of Charles B. Stockley. He was also shown as Wm. H. Floyd.² Sarah was named in her uncle's will in July 1846 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as my niece Sarah Floyd in the will of John Stockly, current wife Rachel, dec'd wife Margaret.⁴ She was listed with her sister in the census of 1850 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as Sarah Floyd, age 32 in HH#446 headed by Margaret Maholloms, age 35. Listed with her were Missouri Floyd, age 9 and Alexine Floyd, age 7.³

     Drusilla Andrews was born circa 1795 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ She married Charles B. Stockley on 1 December 1813 at Northampton Co, VA. Leroy Oldham was the security on the M.L.B. of Charles B. Stockley and Drusilla Andrews.¹ As of 1 December 1813,her married name was Stockley.¹

     Margaret Stockley was born circa 1815 at Northampton Co, VA.² She married William W. Melholloms, son of Thomas Melholloms and Nancy Joynes, on 28 May 1840 at Northampton Co, VA. John Stockley was the security on the M.L.B. of William W. Mehellomes and Margaret Stockley, daughter of Charles B. Stockley.³ As of 28 May 1840,her married name was Melholloms.³ Margaret was named in her father's will on 28 November 1841 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as my daughter Margaret Mehollomes in the will of Charles B. Stockley.¹ Margaret was named in her uncle's will in July 1846 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as my niece Margaret Mehollomes in the will of John Stockly, wife Rachel.⁴ Margaret was listed as a head of household in the census of 1850 at Northampton Co, VA.      John Stockley was born circa 1820 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ He married Polly Joynes, daughter of Robert A. Joynes, on 30 July 1839 at Northampton Co, VA. Robt. A. Joynes was the security on the M.L.B. of his daughter Polly Joynes and John Stockley, son of Charles B. Stockley, who was also security.      Margaret 'Peggy' Scott was born circa 1800.¹ As of 9 December 1816,her married name was Stockley.¹ She married John Stockley, son of William Stockley and Margaret 'Peggy' (-----), on 9 December 1816 at Northampton Co, VA. Samuel Stott was the security on the M.L.B. of John Stockly and Peggy Scott. They were married on 11 Dec 1816.¹

     Rachel Richardson was born circa 1795 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ As of 3 July 1815,her married name was Benston.¹ She married Edmund Benston on 3 July 1815 at Northampton Co, VA. Daniel Luke was the security on the M.L.B. of Edmund Benson and Rachel Richardson.¹ As of 3 July 1838,her married name was Dennis.¹ Rachel Richardson married Archibald Dennis on 3 July 1838 at Northampton Co, VA.
