John Ross was the security on the M.L.B. of Andrew James and Sally James.3 Sally was named as an heir on 9 December 1822 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as Sally James, the widow of Andrew James and as Sarah James in right of Dower.4 Sally made a will on 27 November 1828 at Northampton Co, VA. I Sally James of Accomack, Virginia give and bequeath the whole of my estate to my grand daughter Maria Scott to she and her heirs forever provided she arrive to lawful age or has a lawful heir. But should she die without a lawful heir or under age I leave the above property to be equally divided between my three grandchildren namely; John T. James of Robt, Thomas T. James of Abel and John A. Dowty of James Dowty: but for the share of Jas Dowty's son never to come into his hands but to be put out on int. until he shall become of lawful age unless my daughter Susan should be left a widow & then I'm willing that she should have the use of the above property. I constitute and appoint Saml S. Stott my whole and sole executor. Signed with her mark, Sally James. Witnesses: Saml S. Stott and Hannah (her mark) Dowty.5 She died before 13 February 1832 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that her will was first proved. The witness, Saml S. Stott was deceased.5 Sally was named as an heir on 13 May 1833 at Northampton Co, VA. Michael James who was a Lieutenant in the Virginia State Navy in Rev. War died intestate, leaving one child who died shortly after the death of her father, an infant intestate & without issue. Michael James left at his death the following brothers & sisters: Bridget James & Susan Savage, formerly Susan James who were sisters of the whole blood to said Michael James; and five brothers & sisters of the half blood, viz: Thomas James, Robert James, Peggy Bool, Elizabeth Savage and John Ewing. The said Robert James, the half brother of Michael James, has died intestate leaving the following heirs-at-law, viz: his children Thomas James & Ainsley Dennis, formerly Ainsley James, and the following grandchildren, viz: William Oague, who was the only child of his dec'd daughter Susan Oague, formerly Susan James, also Robert D. James, Abel James, Susan Dowty the wife of James Dowty, and one great grandchild, viz: Maria Scott, the only child of Maria Scott dec'd; the said Robert O. James, Abel James, Susan Dowty and Maria James Scott being the only children of Sally James, daughter of said Robert James & also the children of Arthur Addison, whose names are unknown to the Court, by his dec'd wife, who was another child of said Robert James.2

     John S. James was born circa 1800 at Northampton Co, VA.1 John was named in his father's will on 28 January 1826 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as son John S. James in the will of William James, wife Susannah.1 He married Margaret C. James, daughter of William D. James and Margaret Major, 09 Oct 1827 (bond) at Northampton Co, VA. Arthur R. Savage was the security on the M.L.B. of John S. James and Margaret C. James, ward of Margaret Savage who gave consent. Jeptha Johnson & Hez. P. James witnesses.2 John was named as administrator of an estate on 9 August 1830 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Susan James was granted to John S. James.3 He sold land in 1837 at Northampton Co, VA. In 1822 Thomas James gave a deed of trust for the 150-acres balance of his part of N112 to William James (his brother), who apparently foreclosed, and title passed to a son John S. James, and in 1837 he and his wife Margaret C. James sold to Edward N. Johnson.4 He sold land in 1838 at Northampton Co, VA. In 1825 William James bought 338 acres of tract N98 from Edmund and Sally Roberts and the next year he (wife Susannah) left it to his son John S. James. In 1838 John S. & his wife Margaret C. James sold to John Y. Johnson and 6 years later he resold to William Costin Sr.5 He was the security on a M.L.B. On 3 June 1838 at Northampton Co, VA. John S. James was the security on the M.L.B. of Dr. Robert S. Trower and Miss Sally A. James, his ward. They were married on 8 Jun 1838.2

My will also is that the balance of my estate should be equally divided between my brother and sisters now living and my Brother George Savage's heirs. I also nominate and appoint Major S. Pitts executor. Signed, Nathl Savage. Witnesses: John Carpenter and Robert James.4 He died before 14 December 1818 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that his will was probated. Major Pitts refused the administration so John C. Mapp & Hezekiah P. Wescott were appointed administrators. Bond $12,000. Appraisers: John C. Parramore, William A. Nathaniel Savage was the security on the M.L.B. of Nathaniel Rogers and Ann Ritter Savage.1 Nathaniel made a will on 3 July 1824 at Northampton Co, VA. It is my desire that my executor should make sale of all my personal estate except my Negro boy Robbin and pay all my just debts if that will be sufficient and in case my personal estate should not be enough to pay all my just debts it is my wish that my executor should sell a part or all of my land at private or publick sale as he may think most to the advantage of my children. It is also my desire that the remaining part of my estate should be applied to the raising & schooling my children until they may arrive at a proper age to learn a trade and when the youngest that may live to be of lawful age for the balance to be equally divide among them. If none of my children should not leave a lawful heir of their body nor none arrive at lawful age it is my desire that my sister Elizabeth Sanbrough should have two thirds of my estate and the remaining equally divided between Michael A. Savage and Susanna Westcoat. It is also my wish that my Negro boy Robbing should be hired out for the benefit of my children until he arrives at the age of twenty five and then to be free which takes place about eighteen hundred and forty two. On 13 May 1833 it was recorded that Michael James who was a Lieutenant in the Virginia State Navy in Rev.
