     Athaliah Finney was born circa 1700 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ Athaliah was named in her father's will on 16 February 1737/38 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as daughter Athalia Bell in the will of William Finney, Onancock Creek.

     William Finney II was born circa 1695 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ William witnessed a will on 2 June 1719 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that Sacker Parker, Samuel Turner, Leah Parker & William Finney Jr. witnessed the will of Elizabeth Scarburgh, mother of Bennett & others.² He married Sarah Watts, daughter of Capt. John Watts and Sarah Wallop, between 7 March 1720 and 4 July 1721 at Accomack Co, VA.^3,4 William witnessed a will on 5 March 1721 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that William Finney Jr., A. Finney & William Foster witnessed the will of Provis Nelson, wife Elizabeth.⁵ He's land was surveyed on 23 November 1732 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that Mitchell Scarburgh, surveyor, began a survey of William Finney's land on Onancock Creek. The survey was completed on 9 Jan 1733 and the tract was found to contain 500 acres.⁶ He deeded land as a gift on 3 December 1734 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that William Finney Junr. & wife Sarah gave to their beloved son, John Finney, 1,000 acres on Wallops Island and 200 acres near Wallops Neck, adjoining Capt. John Kendall's land. This was the Watts land that Sarah inherited from her father, John Watts, in 1726, naming one of his children as Sarah Finney. In this deed William & Sarah Finney reserved a lifetime interest in the land. Evidently this son John died underage, for on 1 Feb 1764, William Finney Senr. & then wife Joannah deeded the same 1,000 acres on Wallops Island to William Finney the younger, son of William the Elder. Whitelaw assumed that William Finney & his wife Sarah had only one son named John (who died intestate in 1782, his estate being administered to his widow Anne) and assumed it was the younger John that got the land in 1734.^7,8,9 William was named in his father's will on 16 February 1737/38 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as a son William in the will of William Finney, Onancock Creek. He was given the land & plantation on Onancock Creek.¹ William was named in his brother's will on 24 September 1741 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as brother William Finney in the will of Andrew Finney, wife Elizabeth. He and Abel Upshur were named Extrs.¹⁰ He married Joannah (-----) 24 Dec 1746 (bond) at Northampton Co, VA. Peter Hog was the security on the M.L.B. of William Finney of Acc Co and Joanna Stott, widow of Jonathan Stott.¹¹ William Finney II bought land in 1747 at Accomack Co, VA. It was in this year that William Finney bought 300 acres of tract A16, at Davis Wharf, known as The Glebe, from Andrew Allen, wife Elizabeth. 6 years later he deeded it to his son John, who in 1767 sold 349 acres to the Vestry of St. Georges Parish for a Glebe for the use of the Ministers of said Parish. Whitelaw's A16B, it is still known as The Glebe.¹² He deeded land as a gift on 26 July 1754 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that William Finney II deeded 200 acres at Wallops Neck, near Chincoteague Inlet, to his son William Finney III where he now lives.¹³ He was security on the administration of an estate on 25 March 1760 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that William Finney Jr. & William Wheelton were securities on the adm of Peter Owen to Elizabeth Owen.¹⁴ William was named as administrator of an estate on 29 September 1761 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Edward Noble was granted to William Finney Jr. with John Smith securities.¹⁵ On 18 Aug 1764 William Finney gave slaves to son John and 3 daughters. Son John was given Sharper, Phillip, Halloway & Toby. Daughter Attlanta received Rhody, Abraham, Nicey & John. Daughter Elizabeth 'Betty' got Esther and Moses.      Sarah Finney was born circa 1721 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ She married Robert Bell Sr., son of William Bell and Elizabeth (-----), circa 1740.² As of circa 1740,her married name was Bell.¹ Sarah Finney died before 7 November 1764 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that she was shown as daughter Sarah Bell dec'd in the will of William Finny, wife Joanna. He left her two youngest children Levin & Leah £10 each.¹

     Levin Bell was born circa 1758 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ Levin was named in his grandfather's will on 7 November 1764 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as Levin Bell, one of the two youngest children of my daughter Sarah Bell dec'd in the will of William Finny, wife Joanna.¹ Levin was named in his father's will on 9 November 1771 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as a son Levin Bell in the will of Robert Bell, wife Scarburgh.² Levin witnessed a will on 25 August 1790 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that John Bell, Levin Bell, Daniel Mifflin & Henry Johnson witnessed the will of Leah Speirs, widow.³ He sold land in 1791 at tract A184, between Horntown & Greenbackville, Acc Co, VA. It was in this year that Levin Bell, son of Robert, sold 204 acres of tract A184 to Daniel Mifflin, the deed stated that the title had descended from William Bell to a daughter Sally, from whom it had reverted to William Jerman, Nanney Stephenson and Elizabeth Devorix; they had been the brother and sisters of Salley Bell's mother, the title coming to him by an Act altering descent, and they had united in a deed to Levin Bell in 1790. Daniel & Mary Mifflin sold 20 aces to John Bell.⁴

     Leah Bell was born circa 1760 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ Leah was named in her grandfather's will on 7 November 1764 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as Leah Bell, one of the two youngest children of my daughter Sarah Bell dec'd in the will of William Finny, wife Joanna.¹ Leah was named in her father's will on 9 November 1771 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as daughter Leah Bell in the will of Robert Bell, wife Scarburgh.² As of circa 1776,her married name was Spiers.³ She married (h/o Leah) Spiers circa 1776.³ Leah made a will on 25 August 1790 at Accomack Co, VA. Whereas there has been an exchange of land by my husband & me in his lifetime with my brother Levin Bell, he to have my right to the part to the North-east of a line drawn between him & my brother John Bell-------- and as there has not been a division, I desire that a just division be made, the land sold & the money divided between my 7 children, William, Sally, Comfort, John, Mary, Ann & Henry Spiers. Daughter Attlanta received Rhody, Abraham, Nicey & John. Daughter Elizabeth 'Betty' got Esther and Moses. Daughter Tabitha 'Taby' received Frank, Isaac, Peggy & Lydia.² Attalanta was named in her father's will on 7 November 1764 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as daughter Attalanta in the will of William Finny, wife Joanna.¹ Attalanta witnessed a will on 7 January 1768 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that John Finney, Fairfax Only & Attalanta Finney wittnessed the will of Joanna Finney, mother of Laban Stott.³ As of circa 1769,her married name was Townsend.⁴ She married Caleb Townsend, son of Henry Townsend and Rhoda 'Rhody' Philby, circa 1769 at Accomack Co, VA.⁴ Attalanta was named in her husband's will on 5 March 1770 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as wife Attalanta in the will of Caleb Townsend.⁴

     John Finney was born circa 1740 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ On 18 Aug 1764 William Finney gave slaves to son John and 3 daughters. Son John was given Sharper, Phillip, Halloway & Toby. Daughter Attlanta received Rhody, Abraham, Nicey & John. Daughter Elizabeth 'Betty' got Esther and Moses. He and his sisters Attalanta & Tabitha were named Extrs.¹ He married Ann Rogers, daughter of Isaac Rogers, in 1773.³ John Finney bought land on 3 December 1774 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that John Finney bought 184 acres from John Potter of Sussex County, Providence of Pennslyvania (Delware today) for £414, land that had been conveyed to Potter by John Riley Parker on 31 Jan 1770. The land was located on Onancock Creek in the area of the present day East Point.^4,5 He died before 30 July 1782 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of John Finney was granted to Anne Finney, Abram Outten & Charles Bagwell with John Custis, Zorobabel Rodgers & Michael Bonewell securities. Samuel Outten was appointed guardian to John & Betty Finney on 7 Sep 1786. Ann Outten returned the accounts of Elizabeth Finney and John Finney in 1788, 1789, 1790 and later. Evidently John Finney's widow Ann had married Samuel Outten by 1786. Samuel Outten died testate by 24 Jun 1788, nameing his wife as Ann.^6,7,8

     John Finney was born circa 1722 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ He received land as a gift in 1734 at Accomack Co, VA. It was in this year that William Finney, wife Sarah, deeded his 1,000 acres on Wallop's Island to a son John, who evidently died underage and the same land was given to son William on 1 Feb 1764.^2,3 He died before 1740. This son John who evidently died underage and the same 1,000 acres of land on Wallops Island was given to son William on 1 Feb 1764.¹ John made a will on 23 August 1779 at Accomack Co, VA. To son Levin Core plantation where I live. To wife (no name) use of negro Leah during her life. To daughter Ader Core. To son Babel Core. Wife & 2 children Ader & Babel residual legatees. Wife & Alexander Stockly Exrs. Witt: Henry White, Joseph Stockly, Edmund Powell.⁴ He died before 26 October 1779 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that his will was probated. Sarah Core, the Exec. named in the foregoing will, qualified.⁴

     Ann Rogers was born circa 1750 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ Ann was named in her father's will on 11 July 1769 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as a daughter Ann Rodgers in the will of Isaac Rodgers, wife Mary.² As of 1773,her married name was Finney.¹ She married John Finney, son of William Finney II and Sarah Watts, in 1773.¹ Ann was named in her brother's will on 28 March 1774 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as one of two sisters Anne Finney & Elizabeth Rodgers in the will of Babel Rodgers, son Gilbert.³ Ann was named as administrator of an estate on 30 July 1782 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of John Finney was granted to Anne Finney, Abram Outten & Charles Bagwell with John Custis, Zorobabel Rodgers & Michael Bonewell securities.⁴ As of before 7 September 1786,her married name was Outten.¹ She married Samuel Outten before 7 September 1786 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ Ann was named in her husband's will on 21 January 1788 at Accomack Co, VA.      Elizabeth Finney was born circa 1775 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ As of 31 July 1792,her married name was Watson.¹ She married Arthur Watson, son of Zerrobabel Watson and Keziah (-----), 31 Jul 1792 (bond) at Accomack Co, VA. Samuel Wilson was the security on the M.L.B. of Arthur Watson and Betsey Finney.²

     Samuel Outten was born circa 1750.¹ He married Ann Rogers, daughter of Isaac Rogers, before 7 September 1786 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ Samuel made a will on 21 January 1788 at Accomack Co, VA. To son William Outten 200 £. To daughter Tabitha Outten 100 £. To wife Ann Outten. balance of estate during her widow & then to be sold & the money divided between my son William & daughter Tabitha Outten, & should they die before lawful age wife to have whole estate at her will. To wife Mary Rodgers all my land during her life, & then to be equally divided between my 2 sons Leavin & Babel Rodgers. Daughter Agness Rodgers. Daughter Elizabeth Rodgers. Daughter Ann Rodgers.      Babel Rogers was born circa 1745 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ Babel was named in his father's will on 11 July 1769 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as a son Babel Rodgers in the will of Isaac Rodgers, wife Mary.¹ Babel made a will on 28 March 1774 at Accomack Co, VA. To son Gilbert Rodgers (under age) negroes, & for want of heirs to my 2 sisters Elizabeth Rodgers & Anne Finney. Exr. to sell my land and residue of estate toward the payment of debts. John Finney & Charles Bagwell Exrs. Witt: William Parker, John Parker - p. 437 In order of probate: George Corbin app. guardian to Gilbert Rodgers, heir at law to the testator.² He died before 27 August 1776 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that his will was probated.²

     William Bowman was born circa 1770 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ He died in 1792 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ William was named as an heir on 30 May 1815 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that William Bowman, who died in 1792, was named as a son of David Bowman, the elder, who died seized of a lot in Onancock.¹

     Catharine Bowman was born circa 1774 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ She married Col. John Finney, son of John Finney and Ann Rogers, 02 Sep 1799 (bond) at Accomack Co, VA. William Seymour was the security on the M.L.B. of John Finney and Catherine Bowman.^1,2 As of 2 September 1799,her married name was Finney.^1,2 Catharine Bowman died in 1801.¹ Catharine was named as an heir on 30 May 1815 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that Catherine, the dec'd wife of John Finney, was named as a daughter of David Bowman, the elder, who died seized of a lot in Onancock. She left an only child Catherine Finney.¹

     Elizabeth Finney was born on 4 January 1805 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ She died on 3 October 1847 at age 42.¹ Elizabeth was buried at Meadville, Onancock, Acc Co, VA. Hers tombstone shows her as Elizabeth Finney, daughter of Col. Jno. & Marg't, 4 Jan 1805 - 3 Oct 1847.¹

     William Finney was born on 4 October 1815 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ William was named in his father's will on 28 March 1848 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as son William Finney in the will of John Finney.² He died on 20 December 1858 at age 43.¹ William was buried at Meadville, Onancock, Acc Co, VA. His tombstone shows him as William Finney, son of Col. Jno. & Marg't.¹

     Sarah Finney was born circa 1730 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ Sarah was named in her father's will on 24 September 1741 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as my daughter Sarah Finney in the will of Andrew Finney, wife Elizabeth.¹

     Andrew Finney III was born circa 1728 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ Andrew was named in his father's will on 24 September 1741 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as a son Andrew in the will of Andrew Finney, wife Elizabeth. He was to have the remaining 100 acres of the 300 acres where I now live after his mother Elizabeth died.¹

It was on this date that administration on the estate of William Finney was granted to Mary Finney with Thomas Crippen & Charles Bagwell securities.¹ She married William Nock, son of Elijah Nock Senr. and Comfort Stockley, circa 1770.² As of 1770,her married name was Nock.²

     Sarah Finney was born circa 1779 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ Sarah was named in her father's will on 13 May 1789 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as daughter Sarah Finney in the will of William Finney, wife unnamed. She was given land in the woods which was to be conveyed to her by my son William when he comes to age, containing 125 acres.¹

     William Arbuckle was born circa 1825 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ William was named in his grandfather's will on 28 March 1848 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as grandson William Arbuckle, child of my daughter Catherine by my first wife Catherine Bowman, daughter of David Bowman.¹

     John William Finney was born circa 1804 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ John was named in his father's will on 18 June 1811 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as my son John William Finney in the will of William Finney, Metomkin. He was given 100 acres on the southeast side of my plantation where I now live adjoining John Hickman, Dr. Thompson Holmes & Thomas Pettit and also all the marshes adjoining the 100 acres to be divided by a water work to the creek & a gun that my father gave to me.² John was named in his uncle's will on 20 March 1816 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as nephew John William Finney in the will of John A. Bundick, Drummond Town, wife Elizabeth.³ He died before 28 January 1833. It was on this date that administration on the estate of John W. Finney was granted to George P. Scarburgh & John B. Ailworth with John Arlington & Augustus W. Bagwell securities.⁴

     Caroline Finney was born circa 1828 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ Caroline was named in her mother's will on 12 June 1837 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as a daughter Caroline Finney (under age 21) in the will of Sally W. Finney.¹ She died before 30 May 1842 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Caroline Finney was granted to John Arlington with Richard P. Read & George S. Rodgers securities.²

     John Finney was born circa 1752 at Accomack Co, VA. John served in the Revolutionary War in in 1775 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as John Finney, a soldier in the Army..¹ He received land as a gift in 1778 at Accomack Co, VA. It was in this year that William Finney IV deeded 200 acres at Wallops Neck, near Chincoteague Inlet, to his brother John Finney, solider, for his natural life.² He died before 1 June 1808. It was on this date that William R. Finney was named as the only heir of John Finney, a soldier in the American Army in the Rev. War.

     (d/o_Sarah_&_Jno) Evans was born circa 1750 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ She married John Finney, son of William Finney and Mary (-----), circa 1782. Whitelaws shows that 280 acres of land in tract A121 belonging to Ralph Justice was left to his granddaughter Sarah, the daughter of Abbott Justice, in 1729. Sarah married Jonathan Warrington, but he died in 1744 without an heir, so title remained with Sarah. For some years afterwards, the processioning records give a John Evans as being on this land, so he may have married the widow Sarah Warrington, but no disposition be either a John or a Sarah Evans could be found. Later on a John Finney, son of William, was in possession and in 1809 he left the north part to his eldest son John Evans Finney and the south part to his son William J. Finney; the name of the eldest son is significant, as it suggests that John Finney had married a daughter of John & Sarah Evans.¹ As of circa 1782,her married name was Finney.¹

     John Evans Finney was born circa 1782 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ John was named in his father's will on 4 February 1809 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as my eldest son John Evans Finney in the will of John Finney Sr., of William dec'd. He was given all my plantation where I now live joining Thomas Justice dec'd.¹

     James Nock was born circa 1775 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ He died before 25 May 1804 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of James Nock was granted to Elijah Nock with James J. Abbott & John Nock securities.² He was named in a land cause in 1804 at Accomack Co, VA.      Comfort Nock was born circa 1780 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ She married Staton Taylor 28 Sep 1800 (bond) at Accomack Co, VA. Crippen Taylor was the security on the M.L.B. of Staton Taylor and Comfort Nock.¹ As of 28 September 1800,her married name was Taylor.¹

     Margaret Susan Ames was born in 1853 at Accomack Co, VA.² As of 24 March 1875,her married name was Finney.¹ She married Charles Parkes Finney, son of Thomas Watts Finney Sr. and Sarah 'Sally' Fletcher, on 24 March 1875 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as Charles P. Finney, a 37 year old widowed merchant, the son of Thos W & Sarah Finney and she was shown as Margaret Susan Ames, age 22, daughter of Jno. E. & Marg't Ames. They were married near the Cross Rd.¹ Margaret Susan Ames died in 1936.² Margaret was buried at Mt. Holly Cemetery, Onancock, Acc Co, VA.²

     John Smith Finney was born on 28 June 1820 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ He died on 28 August 1840 at age 20.¹ John was buried at George's Point, Finney's Creek, Acc Co, VA. His tombstone shows him as John Smith Finney, son of Wm & Rosey, 28 Jun 1820 - 28 Aug 1840, aged 20 years, 2 months & 0 days.¹

     John F. Gillespie was born on 27 December 1859 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ He married Sarah W. Finney, daughter of Sarah S. Finney, circa 1870.¹ John F. Gillespie died on 22 April 1949 at age 89.¹ John was buried at Parksley Cemetery, Parksley, Acc Co, VA. His tombstone shows him as John F. Gillespie, husband of S.W., 27 Dec 1859 - 22 Apr 1949.¹

     William R. Finney was born circa 1780.¹ He was the security on a M.L.B. On 22 July 1806 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that Wm. R. Finney was the security on the M.L.B. of James Johnson & Elizabeth Giddens.¹ William witnessed a will on 15 July 1807 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that William R. Finney & Michale Dunton witnessed the will of Robert Honerdly, wife Patience.³ William was named as an heir on 1 June 1808 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that William R. Finney was named as the only heir of John Finney, a soldier in the American Army in the Rev. War.² William was named as administrator of an estate on 14 August 1809 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that a will of Elizabeth Parramore was presented for probate. The court was of the opinion that this was not her will so probate was refused. Administration was then granted to William R. Finney and Rosanna Parramore. Appraisers: Major Pettit, John C. West, Keeley Stott and Thomas Jacob. Audit and Settlement. Begins on July 21, 1809. WB 34 pages 111-112. The executor was not mentioned. Recorded on March 14, 1814.⁴ William was named as administrator of an estate on 9 April 1810 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Robins Mapp was granted to William R. Finney.⁵ He married Rosanna 'Rosey' Johnson, daughter of Johannes Johnson and Ansley Savage, 10 Dec 1810 (bond) at Northampton Co, VA. Arthur R. Savage was the security on the M.L.B. of William R. Finney & Rosey Johnson.¹ William witnessed a will on 19 September 1811 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that William R. Finney, Charles Kellam, Levin Ross & Jacob Fatherly witnessed the will of William Oague, wife Susanna.⁶ William made a will on 16 December 1811 at Northampton Co, VA. I give and bequeath unto my loving wife Rosanna Finney the whole of my estate both real & personal provided she does not bring forth an heir nine months from this date. If she should bring forth an heir be it male or female I give to the child one half and to the mother the other half to them and their heirs forever. I nominate and appoint my friend John B. Thomas my executor. Signed, Wm R. Finney. Witnesses: Thomas B. Snead, William D. James and George Savage.⁷ He inherited land in 1812 at Northampton Co, VA. In 1800 Johannas Johnson bought 145 acres of tract N107 from John Smith. It was on the creek between the tow guts which formed what was called Major's Neck in early days. Johannas died intestate and in 1812 his land was surveyed for a division, the eastern part going to William R. & Rosanna Finney and the western part to Jeptha Johnson. The part that went to the Finneys is now (1951) Lochwood, the home of Mr. & Mrs. Polk Kellam.⁸ He died before 10 February 1812 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that his will was probated. John B. Thomas declined the administration so Johannes Johnson was appointed to administer the estate. No order to appraise the estate. Inventory and Appraisement taken on February 27, 1812. WB 37 pages 80-81. Audit and Settlement with Johannes Johnson, administrator. Pages 81-83. Recorded on March 17, 1825.⁷

     George Brickhouse Sr. was born circa 1635.¹ He married Hannah Luddington, daughter of William Luddington and Garterude (-----), on 4 November 1661 at Northampton Co, VA. They were shown as George Brickhouse and Hanna Luddington.^2,3 George Brickhouse Sr. bought land in 1665 at Northampton Co, VA. It was in this year that George Brickhouse bought 350 acres of Whitelaw's tract N78 from Thomas & Susanna (Denwood) Browne. Thomas Browne was a devout Quaker. In 1689 George Brickhouse, wife Hannah) left the home part of his plantation at the east end to his son George and the balance of 100 acres at the west end to his daughter Sarah. This was west of the current town of Nassawadox on the north side of Church Creek.⁴ George was named as an heir on 11 March 1665 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as George Brickhouse and given a suit & coat in the will of Jane Hartree, widow. Her brothers Leonard & John Cuttinge were living in London.⁵ George witnessed a will on 4 May 1675 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that Arthur Upshur and George Brickhouse witnessed the will of William Roberts, wife Elizabeth.⁶ George witnessed a will on 20 August 1688 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that George Brickhouse, Thomas Browne, Christopher Mather & Susanna Browne witnessed the will of John Dalby, wife Margery.⁷ On 15 Sep 1688 Mathew Patrick, wife Judith, named my friends William Gascoine, George Brickhouse, Henry Gascoine & John Tankred to see my will performed. He named his wife Extr.⁸ George made a will on 19 November 1688 at Northampton Co, VA. To my dau. Hannah the wife of George Bell 200 A. which I bought of (Col.) John Stringer whereon Richard Jester formerly lived and where David Evans now lives. To my dau. Anne Brickhouse the plantation which I bought of Richard Gill formerly belonging to John Trueman, excepting one acre where the meeting house stands which I give to the Quakers. To my dau. Ellenor Brickhouse the plantation where Francis Brooks now lives with the land on this side of the branch. To my dau. Sarah Brickhouse 100 A. being part of the plantation whereon I now dwell at Nurswattox to be laid out at the bottom of my land adjacent to my neighbor Thomas Browne and bounded on the creek. To my beloved wife Hannah for life the plantation whereon I now dwell, and then to my son George Brickhouse. My Negro to my dau. Anne Brickhouse, my wife to have use of him until Anne is 15 or longer if she remains unmarried and lives with her mother. Son George and my son-in-law George Bell extrs. Witt: Henry Stott, Sr., Jeremiah Walter, Phillip Jacob, John Tankred.¹ He died before 2 January 1688/89 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that his will was probated.¹

     Hannah Luddington was born circa 1643.¹ She married George Brickhouse Sr. on 4 November 1661 at Northampton Co, VA. They were shown as George Brickhouse and Hanna Luddington.^3,4 As of 4 November 1661,her married name was Brickhouse.³ Hannah was named in her husband's will on 19 November 1688 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as wife Hannah in the will of George Brickhouse.¹

     William Luddington was born circa 1610.¹ He married Garterude (-----) circa 1635.¹ William Luddington took the oath of allegiance to hereby engage and promise to be true and faithful to the Commonwealth of England as it is now established without King or House of Lords on 30 March 1651 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as William Luddington.² He died before 28 April 1653 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of William Luddington was granted to Nathaniel Littleton, Esq. as major creditor of the dec'd, on behalf of the widow Garterude. The court ordered that Samuel and Robert Luddington were to receive their clothes out of the estate.¹

     Garterude (-----) was born circa 1615.¹ She married William Luddington circa 1635.¹ As of 1635,her married name was Luddington.¹ Garterude was named as an heir on 28 April 1653 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as the widow Garterude when adminstration on William Luddington's estate was granted to Nathaniel Littleton.¹

     Samuel Luddington was born circa 1640 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Samuel was named as an heir on 28 April 1653 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that adminstration on William Luddington's estate was granted to Nathaniel Littleton and Samuel & Robert Luddington were to receive their clothes out of the estate.¹

     Robert Luddington was born circa 1635 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Robert was named as an heir on 28 April 1653 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that adminstration on William Luddington's estate was granted to Nathaniel Littleton and Samuel & Robert Luddington were to receive their clothes out of the estate.¹ He married Susanna (-----) circa 1658.² Robert Luddington died before 3 February 1660/61 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as Robert Luddington, who was buried on 3 Feb 1660/61.³ Administration of Robert estate was filed on 28 February 1660/61 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Robert Luddington was granted to Susanna Luddington, widow of the dec'd.²

     Susanna (-----) was born circa 1640.¹ As of circa 1658,her married name was Luddington.¹ She married Robert Luddington, son of William Luddington and Garterude (-----), circa 1658.¹ Susanna was named as administrator of an estate on 28 February 1660/61 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Robert Luddington was granted to Susanna Luddington, widow of the dec'd.¹

     Hannah Brickhouse was born circa 1662.¹ She married George Bell, son of Thomas Bell Sr. and Mary Neale (Neale?), circa 1680.¹ As of circa 1680,her married name was Bell.¹ Hannah was named in her father's will on 19 November 1688 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as daughter Hannah Brickhouse, wife of George Bell, in the will of George Brickhouse, wife Hannah. She was given 200 acres which I bought of Col. John Stringer whereon Richard Jester formerly lived and where David Evans now lives.¹ Hannah was named in her husband's will on 7 August 1721 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as my wife Hannah in the will of George Bell.²

     George Brickhouse was born circa 1665 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ George was named in his father's will on 19 November 1688 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as son George Brickhouse in the will of George Brickhouse, wife Hannah. He was given the plantation whereon I now dwell after the death of his wife Hannah.¹

     Anne Brickhouse was born circa 1668 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Anne was named in her father's will on 19 November 1688 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as daughter Ann Brickhouse (under 15) in the will of George Brickhouse, wife Hannah. He gave her the plantation which I bought of Richard Gill formerly belonging to John Trueman, excepting one acre where the meeting house stands which I give to the Quakers.¹ As of circa 1692,her married name was Townsend.² She married Jeremiah Townsend I, son of John Townsend I and Elizabeth Danford, circa 1692 at Somerset Co, MD.² Anne Brickhouse died before 10 November 1743 at Worcester Co, MD. She was evidently dec'd by this date as she was not named in the will of Jeremiah Townsend, son Brickhouse Townsend.³

     Ellenor Brickhouse was born circa 1670 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Ellenor was named in her father's will on 19 November 1688 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as daughter Ellenor Brickhouse in the will of George Brickhouse, wife Hannah. He gave her the plantation were Francis Brooks now lives with the land on this side of the branch.¹

     Rebecca (-----) was born circa 1650.¹ She married Capt. John Wallop (alias Wadlow) circa 1670. According to Whitelaw, Capt. John Wallop was a widower when he died, but a wife is known to have been named Rebecca.² As of circa 1670,her married name was Wallop.² Rebecca (-----) died before 4 April 1693. She was evidently dec'd by this date as she was not named in the will Capt. John Wallop.¹

     Sarah Wallop was born circa 1672 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ Sarah was named in her father's will on 4 April 1693 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as a daughter Sarah Wallop, alias Wadlow in the will of John Wallop, alias Wadlow.² She married Capt. John Watts, son of John Watts and Dorothy (-----), after 4 April 1693 at Accomack Co, VA. From the will of Capt. John Watts in 1726 it was possible to figure out that Sarah had been his first wife, and he had by her two daughters, to inherit her 2,000 acres, Tabitha who married John Kendall & Sarah, who married William Finney Jr. In 1734 William Finney, wife Sarah, left his 1,000 acres on Wallop's Island to a son John, who died intestate in 1782.^3,2 As of after 4 April 1693,her married name was Watts.^1,2

     Johannes Johnson was born circa 1760.¹ He married Ansley Savage, daughter of Nathaniel Savage and Henrietta (-----), 12 Jul 1785 (bond) at Northampton Co, VA. Hezekiah Pitts was the security on the M.L.B. of Johannas Johnson & Ansly Savage.² Johannes Johnson died before 9 May 1808 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Johannas Johnson was granted to Jeptha Johnson.¹

     Annie (-----) was born circa 1877.¹ As of circa 1900,her married name was Finney.¹ She married John S. Finney, son of Alfred W. Finney Sr. and Mary A. Bell, circa 1900.¹ Annie (-----) died on 5 December 1907. Mrs. Annie Finney died 5 Dec 1907, aged about 30. She was the wife of John S. Finney. She died of tetanus caused by a nail piercing her foot. She was survived by a husband and 3 little girls. (Parksley News, P.E., 21 Dec 1907 issue).¹ Annie was buried at Parksley Cemetery, Parksley, Acc Co, VA.¹

     Edward B. Finney was born on 20 March 1870.¹ He died on 22 March 1911 at age 41. He died on Monday at his home near Craddockville (or Pungoteague). He was the son of the late John T. Finney and was survived by his mother Mrs. Bettie Finney, his wife and 1 child. (E.S.H., 31 Mar 1911; A.N. 25 Mar 1911 & P.E., 25 Mar 1911).¹ Edward was buried at Onancock Cemetery, Onancock, Acc Co, VA.¹

     Andrew Gordon Finney Jr. was born circa 1854 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ He married Tissie B. (-----) circa 1875.¹

     Tissie B. (-----) was born circa 1855.¹ As of circa 1875,her married name was Finney.¹ She married Andrew Gordon Finney Jr., son of Andrew Gordon Finney and Susan Catharine Bunting, circa 1875.¹

     Dr. William B. Finney was born circa 1856 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ He died before 1939 at Baltimore, MD.¹

     Levin Core was born circa 1765 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ Levin was named in his father's will on 23 August 1779 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as a son Levin Core in the will of Edmund Core, wife Sarah.² He married Mary 'Molley' Laws, daughter of Jonathan Laws and Sarah Blake, circa 1784 at Accomack Co, VA.³ Levin made a will on 21 June 1784 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that his will was probated.¹

     Sarah Garrett was born circa 1742 at Northampton Co, VA.² As of 25 December 1760,her married name was Core.² She married Edmund Core, son of Edmund Core Sr. and Sarah (-----), 25 Dec 1760 (bond) at Northampton Co, VA. John Downing was the security on the M.L.B. of Edmund Core and Sarah Garris, daughter of Thomas Garris.¹ Sarah was named in her father's will on 24 November 1767 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as my daughter Sarah Core and given £6 in the will of Thomas Garris, blacksmith. He also named son-in-law Edmund Core to be his Extr.³ Sarah was named in her husband's will on 23 August 1779 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as a wife Sarah, the named Extr., at probate of the will of Edmund Core.²

     Thomas Garrett was born circa 1712 at Northampton Co, VA.² Thomas was named in his uncle's will on 2 October 1713 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that Thomas Dolby, wife Joannah, named his couzen (meaning nephew) Thomas Garret, son of Richard Garret, in his will.³ Thomas was named in his father's will on 2 January 1720/21 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as my son Thomas (under 18) in the will of Richard Garris. He was given the plantation whereon I now live, and for want of heirs to my daughter Bridget and for want of heirs to my daughter Lisha.² Thomas witnessed a will on 2 October 1744 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that Thomas Marshall, Thomas Garres & Thomas Grice witneseed the will of Thomas Benthall, wife Ann.⁴ Thomas made a will on 24 November 1767 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as Thomas Garris, blacksmith. To my son Richard blacksmith tools and one shilling. To son Thomas £40 already given him. To son John £3 10s. To my dau. Betty Dalby £18. To my dau. Keziah Watson £8. To my dau. Sarah Core £6. Resid. legatees my children John, Betty Dolby, Keziah Watson, and Sarah Core. To children last named the land bought of Caleb Scott which is to be sold.      William Core was born circa 1692 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ William was named in his father's will on 1 February 1709/10 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as son William in the will of John Core, wife Rebecca.¹

He was given 100 acres, being part of the land where I now dwell.¹ John was named in his mother's will on 7 February 1727/28 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as my son John Core in the will of Rebekah Core.² John made a will on 14 January 1750/51 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as John Core, planter. To my brother Posthumous Core entire estate, and also all my right to the 100 A. at the head of my father's land. Brother Posthumous extr. John Downing was the security on the M.L.B. of Edmund Core and Sarah Garris, daughter of Thomas Garris.³ Edmund Core was named as the executor of a will on 24 November 1767 at Northampton Co, VA. He was named son-in-law Edmund Core and was to be Extr. in the will of Thomas Garris, blacksmith. He also named a daughter Sarah Core.⁴ Edmund was named in his father's will on 14 June 1772 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as a son Edmund in the will of Edmund Core Sr., planter, wife Sarah.² Edmund made a will on 23 August 1779 at Accomack Co, VA. To son Levin Core plantation where I live. To wife (no name) use of negro Leah during her life. To daughter Ader Core. To son Babel Core. Wife & 2 children Ader & Babel residual legatees. Wife & Alexander Stockly Exrs. Witt: Henry White, Joseph Stockly, Edmund Powell.⁵ He died before 26 October 1779 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that his will was probated. Sarah Core, the Exec. named in the foregoing will qualified.⁵

     Sarah (-----) was born circa 1710 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ She married Edmund Core Sr., son of John Core and Rebecca (-----), circa 1730 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ As of circa 1730,her married name was Core.¹ Sarah was named in her husband's will on 14 June 1772 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as a wife Sarah in the will of Edmund Core Sr., planter.¹

     Zorobabel Core was born circa 1732 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Zorobabel was named in his father's will on 14 June 1772 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as a son Zorobabel in the will of Edmund Core Sr., planter, wife Sarah. He was given my plantation whereon I now live after the death of wife Sarah.¹ Zorobabel was named as administrator of an estate on 25 January 1791 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Charles Core was granted to Zorobabel Core with William Wyatt & Ismael Wyatt securities.² Zorobabel made a will on 2 October 1797 at Northampton Co, VA. Extr. to sell the whole of my land that I am possessed with and after paying a morgage that Teackle Jacob has on my land, I give the balance of the sale money to be div. by my four children Betsey, William, Nancy, and Levy Core. To dau. Betsey large blue chest and spinning wheel. To dau. Nancy one new spinning wheel. Extr. John Core. Witt: Jesse Watson, Arthur Downing.³ He died before 12 February 1798 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that his will was probated.³

     Luke Core was born circa 1734 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Luke was named in his father's will on 14 June 1772 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as a son Luke in the will of Edmund Core Sr., planter, wife Sarah. He was given the 100 acres which has been in dispute between my brother Posthumous Core and me.¹

     Charles Core was born circa 1736 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ He married Betty Dalby 12 Jan 1768 (bond) at Northampton Co, VA. Edmund Core was the security on the M.L.B. of Charles Core and Betty Dolby.² Charles was named in his father's will on 14 June 1772 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as a son Charles in the will of Edmund Core Sr., planter, wife Sarah.¹ He died before 25 January 1791 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Charles Core was granted to Zorobabel Core with William Wyatt & Ismael Wyatt securities.³

     Betty Dalby was born circa 1750 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ As of 12 January 1768,her married name was Core.¹ She married Charles Core, son of Edmund Core Sr. and Sarah (-----), 12 Jan 1768 (bond) at Northampton Co, VA. Edmund Core was the security on the M.L.B. of Charles Core and Betty Dolby.¹

     Levin J. Thomas was born circa 1790 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ He married Sally C. Core, daughter of John Core and Susanna (514) Baker, 21 Dec 1813 (bond) at Northampton Co, VA. John C. Mapp was the security on the M.L.B. of Leavin J. Thomas & Salley Core, daughter of John Core who gave consent.¹

     Betsey Core was born circa 1780 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Betsey was named in her father's will on 2 October 1797 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as daughter Betsey Core in the will of Zoroababel Core, no wife named.¹

She was shown as my daughter Mary Core, otherwise Powell, in the will of Edmund Core Sr., planter, wife Sarah.¹

     (-----) Powell was born circa 1740.¹ He married Mary Core, daughter of Edmund Core Sr. and Sarah (-----), circa 1765.¹

     Sarah Core was born circa 1742 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ As of circa 1765,her married name was Twiford.¹ She married (-----) Twiford circa 1765.¹ Sarah was named in her father's will on 14 June 1772 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as my daughter Sarah Core, otherwise Twifort, in the will of Edmund Core Sr., planter, wife Sarah.¹

     (-----) Twiford was born circa 1740.¹ He married Sarah Core, daughter of Edmund Core Sr. and Sarah (-----), circa 1765.¹

     Esther Core was born circa 1744 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ As of circa 1765,her married name was Grice.¹ She married (-----) Grice circa 1765.¹ Esther was named in her father's will on 14 June 1772 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as my daughter Esther Core, otherwise Grice, in the will of Edmund Core Sr., planter, wife Sarah.¹

     (-----) Grice was born circa 1740.¹ He married Esther Core, daughter of Edmund Core Sr. and Sarah (-----), circa 1765.¹

     (-----) (-----) was born circa 1770 at Accomack Co, VA. She married Robert Russell circa 1790 at Accomack Co, VA. As of circa 1790,her married name was Russell.

     Sally S. Russell was born on 13 September 1802 at Accomack Co, VA.² Sally was named as an heir on 1 October 1822 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that it was brought out in a land cause of Laws vs. Russell, a partition suit, that Robert Russell had died in 1821 seized of several tracts of land containing about 475 acres and left the following children, exclusive of his son Henry, viz: John C. Russell, Robert Russell, Sally Russell, Samuel Russell and Nancy Laws, the wife of William Laws, who has since died leaving Robert Russell Laws her only child.³ She married Rev. William Laws, son of John Laws Sr. and Adah Core, on 24 January 1823 at Worcester Co, MD. They were shown as William Laws and Sally Russell.^1,4 As of 24 January 1823,her married name was Laws.^1,4 Sally S. Russell died on 5 October 1839 at age 37.² Sally was buried at Laws Cemetery, Modest Town, Acc Co, VA. Her tombstone shows her as Sally S. Laws, wife of Wm, who died 5 Oct 1839 aged 37 years & 22 days.² Sally was named as an heir before 29 September 1856 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as Sarah Laws dec'd, wife of the Rev. William Laws, whose maiden name was Russell, in the will of Sarah Wise.⁵

     Robert Russell was born circa 1800 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ Robert was named in his father's will on 12 September 1821 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as a son Robert Russell and given $200 in the will of Robert Russell, wife Sarah.¹ Robert was named as an heir on 1 October 1822 at Accomack Co, VA.      Caroline F.C. Wise was born circa 1817 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ Caroline was named in her father's will before 25 July 1836 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as my daughter Caroline F.C. Wise in the will of William E. Wise, wife Sarah.² As of 23 May 1837,her married name was Russell.³ She married Samuel S. Russell, son of Robert Russell and (-----) (-----), 23 May 1837 (bond) at Accomack Co, VA. John Savage and Edmund R. Allen were the security on the M.L.B. of Samuel S. Russell and Caroline F.C. Wise, orphan of W.E. Wise.³

     John Laws Jr. was born circa 1787 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ He married Ann Adair, daughter of Dr. William Adair and Mary Burton (Burton?), on 23 December 1816 at Accomack Co, VA. John Townsend was the security on the M.L.B. of John Laws and Ann Adair of Doctor Adair.²

     Ann Adair was born circa 1795 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ As of 23 December 1816,her married name was Laws.¹ She married John Laws Jr., son of John Laws Sr. and Adah Core, on 23 December 1816 at Accomack Co, VA. John Townsend was the security on the M.L.B. of John Laws and Ann Adair of Doctor Adair.¹ Ann Adair died before 9 September 1825 at Accomack Co, VA. She was evidently dec'd by this date as her daughter was shown as granddaughter Mary Burton Laws in the will of Mary Adair Sr. She was given a lot containing 3 acres & all my interest in a mortgage deed on the land of John Laws Jr. & bill of sale on his personal property.²

     Dr. William Adair was born circa 1770.¹ He married Mary Burton (Burton?) circa 1795.² Dr. William Adair bought land in 1797 at Accomack Co, VA. It was in this year that Dr. William Adair bought William Stockley's part of tract A140. William's mother Ann and her second husband Staton Matthews also signed to release her dower rights. Dr. William Adair also bought 6 acres of tract A141 from John Burton.¹
