William 'Will' Hughes Williams was born on 15 December 1804 at Old Plantation Creek, Northampton Co, VA.¹ There is a record in the N'hamp Co Orphan Accounts # 2, 1785-1813, p. 414-415, in which William Hughes Williams and his sister Mary are named as the orphans of John Williams and Nancy Williams, widow, is paid for their support.² In 1813 young William Hughes Williams, age 10, served as a substitute to answer roll call for James West from 30 Sep to 4 Nov 1813, in the 27th Virginia Militia, and was paid $9.33 for his service. He is listed in the Muster Role of the 27th, thereby qualifying as a veteran of the War of 1812. He was shown as Pvt. Will H. Williams in Capt. Custis of Harborton, and a sister of Besie, who married E. Reeve Gandy of Crisfield, MD. They had a son Ira who was drowned in Pungoteague Creek as a youth.¹ Her married name was Williams.¹

     William H.B. Custis was born circa 1869 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ She married Cordelia H. Hundley, daughter of William Hundley and Margaret Evans, on 30 December 1891 at Accomack Co, VA.      Robert Tankard 'Tank' Williams was born on 23 October 1884 at Harborton, Acc Co, VA.¹ He married Alma Grace Mister, daughter of Capt. Thomas T. Mister and Bettie D. Guy, on 27 December 1905 at Harborton, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as Robert Tankard Williams, a 21 year old engineer, the son of James O. & Maggie S. Williams and she was shown as Alma Grace Mister, age 20, the daughter of Thomas T. & Bettie Mister.² For a number of years he was a marine engineer of the Norfolk-Cape Charles fleet of the Penn. R.R. and its predecessor.      Robert O. Wilmer was born circa 1831 at Amherst Co, VA.³ Robert was listed with his parents in the census of 1850 at Amherst Co, VA. He was shown as Robert Willmore, age 19 in a household headed by Reuben Rowland Willmore, age 45.³ He married Sarah E. North on 13 October 1851. Sarah was a sister to Dolly North.² He was a supply sergeant and Confederate veteran.² Robert O. Wilmer sold land circa 1870. He sold 60 acres of land to each of his sons George W. and Edward C. for $500. This land was subdivided from a tract of 120 acres, a mountain called "Luck" on the Buffalo River.² He died in 1874 at Amherst Co, VA.²

     Sarah E. North was born circa 1835 at Amherst Co, VA. She married Robert O. Wilmer, son of Reuben Rowland Wilmer and Sarah 'Sallie' Stinnett, on 13 October 1851. Sarah was a sister to Dolly North.² As of circa 1865,her married name was Wilmer.¹
