     William S. Williams was born circa 1780 at Northampton Co, VA.1 William was named in his grandfather's will on 11 October 1796 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as one of my 3 (under age) grandsons Samuel, John & William Williams, sons of John Williams & Edith Williams in the will of Thomas Nottingham, wife Scarburgh. His daughter Edith was evidently dec'd.2 William was named in his father's will on 10 December 1804 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as my son William Williams in the will of John Williams, wife Margaret.3 He married Ann 'Nancy' Jacob Dunton on 16 December 1806 at Northampton Co, VA. Hancock Dunton was the security on the M.L.B. of William Williams and Ann (Nancy) Jacob Dunton.4 William S. Williams was named in a land cause on 21 February 1816 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that William Williams was named in a land cause involving his deceased brothers Benjamin, James & John Williams Jr.5 He was named in a land cause on 10 September 1827 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that it was brought out in a land cause that William S. Williams was a brother of the half blood of James Williams dec'd.6 William made a will on 3 February 1829 at Northampton Co, VA. To my loving wife Ann J. Williams two hundred dollars. I leave all my real estate to be sold when my sone Thos B. Williams arrives to lawful age of twenty one years. I hereby nominate my sone James D. Williams and Thomas S. Spady executors. Signed, William S. Williams. Witnesses: Samuel S. Williams, Samuel Bunting, Walter H. Luker and John Nottingham.7 He died before 13 April 1829 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that his will was probated. Administrator Thomas S. Spady. The other executor, James D. Williams was under age. Bond $8000. Appraisers: George P. Fitchett, Peter Williams Jr., Benjamin N. Scott and John W. Luker. Inventory, Appraisement and Account of Sales taken on December 1, 1829. Thomas S. Spady administrator. Recorded on October 13, 1834. On September 12, 1842, James D. Williams was added as an administrator.7

He was shown as a son Benjamin, one of my 3 youngest sons, in the will of John Williams, wife Margaret. He was under age.2 He died before 11 October 1813 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that Benjamin Williams, a son of John Williams Sr., late of N'hamp Co, had died an infant (under age) without a will and without issue and his 1/3 of 370 acres was devised to Thomas & Sally, a brother & sister of the whole blood (1/5 each) and to Samuel, John, William, James, Margaret & Betsey, brothers & sisters of the half-blood (1/10 each). Sometime after this his brother James died an infant (under age) without a will and without issue (adm. dated 11 Oct 1813), leaving as his next of kin & heirs a mother Margaret, 2 sisters of the whole blood Margaret & Betsy and brothers & sisters of the half-blood Samuel, John, William, Thomas & Sally to whom his undivided 1/3 of the 370 acres and his 1/10 of 1/3 derived from his brother Benjamin. James' widow Sukey was to have a dower interest. Then sometime after this on 25 Nov 1815, John Williams Jr., one of the brothers, died leaving a will with Southy Goffigon & William S. Luker.2 Thomas Williams Jr. was named in a land cause on 21 February 1816 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that Thomas Williams was named in a land cause involving his deceased brothers Benjamin, James & John Williams Jr.3 He married Rachel Willis, daughter of Josias Willis III (Sr.) and Eizabeth White, on 14 January 1822 at Northampton Co, VA. Josiah Willis was the security on the M.L.B. of Thomas Williams and Rachel Willis, daughter of Josias Willis dec'd(sic).2 Thomas Williams Jr. was named in a land cause on 10 September 1827 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that a land clause of Williams vs Williams, suit for division of dower land of Susan Pede, widow of James Williams, brought out that Susan had died and her dower lands were to be divided among James' brothers and sisters: Margaret Jarvis & Elizabeth Spady of the whole blood, and Thomas Williams Jr., Samuel S. Williams, John Williams Jr. devisor of Margaret William, Sally Nottingham and William S. Williams, of the half blood.4 Thomas made a will on 1 January 1834 at Northampton Co, VA. My will and desire is that all my estate, both real personal and mixed shall be sold at the discretion of my executor. My son George Washington Luker Williams and my daughter Emily Sally Williams shall receive the amount of the share which I inherited out of the estate of George Luker dec'd in right of my last wife, to be equally divided between the said George and Emily. My will and desire is that the residue of my estate shall be equally divided between all my children equally. I nominate and appoint my friend James Saunders executor. Signed, Thomas Williams Jr. Witnesses: John Ker, Severn (his mark) Wilkins, Wm Robbins and John Williams.5 He died before 13 January 1834 at Northampton Co, VA.      Margaret Williams was born on 10 November 1797 at Northampton Co, VA.2 Margaret was named in her father's will on 10 December 1804 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as daughter Margaret, one of 6 youngest children, in the will of John Williams, wife Margaret.1 As of 14 September 1812,her married name was Jarvis.3 She married William Bell Jarvis, son of Thomas Jarvis and Ann 'Nancy' Senior (160) Bell, on 14 September 1812 at Northampton Co, VA. Jno. Nelson Sr. was the security on the M.L.B. of William Jarvis Jr. and Margaret Williams, daughter of Margaret Williams, who gave consent. Ann Bayton & James Williams witnesses. They were married on 24 Sep 1812.3 Margaret Williams was named in a land cause on 21 February 1816 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that Margaret was named in a land cause involving her deceased brothers Benjamin, James & John Williams Jr.4 She was named in a land cause on 10 September 1827 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that a land clause of Williams vs Williams, suit for division of dower land of Susan Pede, widow of James Williams, brought out that Susan had died and her dower lands were to be divided among James' brothers and sisters: Margaret Jarvis & Elizabeth Spady of the whole blood, and Thomas Williams Jr., Samuel S. Williams, John Williams Jr. devisor of Margaret William, Sally Nottingham and William S. Williams, of the half blood.5 She died on 27 August 1851 at age 53.2 Margaret was buried at Sadie Fitchett Farm, Dalbys, N'hamp Co, VA. Her tombstone shows her as Margaret Williams Jarvis, wife of W.B., 10 Nov 1797 - 27 Aug 1851.2

He was shown as one of my 2 (under age) grandsons Thomas Nottingham Williams and John Scarburgh Williams, sons of William Williams and Mary Williams in the will of Thomas Nottingham, wife Scarburgh.2 He married Margaret (-----) circa 1810.3 John made a will on 10 May 1819 at Northampton Co, VA. I give to my cousin Elam L. Brickhouse. I give to my brother Thomas N. Williams my fourth part of the Schn William Henry and my Negro man James and my Negro man Jerrome and my Negro woman Easter and my Negro woman Leah after the said Thomas N. Williams pays to Thomas S. Brickhouse two hundred dollars and to Smith Brickhouse two hundred dollars and to John N. Brickhouse two hundred dollars. I lend to my wife Margaret Williams the balance of my property real & personal after her paying all of my debts this property I lend so long as the said Margaret Williams remains my widow and at her death or marriage I give to Susan N. Brickhouse daughter Thos N. Brickhouse. I give to Edith E. Williams my Negro woman Adah. I give to Margaret B. Williams my Negro man Ben. I give to Elizabeth P. Williams my Negro boy Abel. I give to Mary S. Williams my Negro girl Milly. I give to Elizabeth P. Williams the piece of land laying next the seaside county road that I purchased of Thomas Powell. I give to Mary S. Williams the piece where the houses are on that lays next the sea side marsh that I purchased of Thomas Powell. Give to my wife Margaret Williams my Negro boy Charles and all the remainder of my property. It is my desire that Mr. William Satchell would assist my wife in settling my estate. Signed, John S. Williams. Witnesses: George F. Wilkins, Custis Kendall and H. B. Kendall.3 He died before 8 November 1819 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that his will was probated. Williams" "To amount of property remaining in Margaret Williams' hands at the time of your intermarriage with her which property was loaned to her by her former husband Jno Williams."      Capt. Thomas Nottingham Williams was born circa 1788 at Northampton Co, VA.1 Thomas was named in his grandfather's will on 11 October 1796 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as one of my 2 (under age) grandsons Thomas Nottingham Williams and John Scarburgh Williams, sons of William Williams and Mary Williams in the will of Thomas Nottingham, wife Scarburgh.2 He married Anne S. Nottingham, daughter of William E. Nottingham Sr. and Mary A. 'Polly' Bell, on 12 February 1814 at Northampton Co, VA. Wm. Nottingham Sr. gave consent and was the security on the M.L.B. of his daughter Anne S. Nottingham and Capt. Thomas N. Williams. John L. Williams & Thos Nottingham were witnesses. They were married on 17 Feb 1814.3 Capt. Thomas Nottingham Williams was named in processioners returns in January 1816 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that in the 6th Precinct lines were processioned between Capt. Thomas Williams and Elizabeth Isadal, George Warrington, Southy Webb, Williams Roberts & Charles Stockley.4 Thomas was named in his brother's will on 10 May 1819 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as my brother Thomas N. Williams in the will of John S. Williams, wife Margaret.5 Thomas made a will on 26 August 1823 at Northampton Co, VA. It is my will & desire that my son Lloyd should have my watch and it's appendages, also my guns, powder flask, shot bag & articles attached thereto by his paying to my other children Mary Anne & Goodwin Williams forty dollars without interest when he arrives to the age of twenty one years old. It is my will that my Negroes Southey and Rose shall not be separated during their lives but that they shall be provided with comfortable homes & kept well clothed and no hardships imposed upon them unsuitable to their age. The residue of my estate to be equally divided between my three children; Lloyd, Maryann and Goodwin Williams. But should either of my children die before marriage or before they arrive to the age of twenty one years old that my surviving children shall inherit the estate of the deceased child or children. If all of my children should die before they marry or arrive to the age of twenty one my wife should have the use of the estate during her widowhood but in the event of her marriage or death it is my wish that the estate should be equally divided, the one half to my widow, the other half to be equally divided among the children of Samuel S. Williams. In the event of my death, the farm leased of John N. Stratton Esqr should be taken back by him. I appoint my friends Nath Holland & John E. Nottingham Executors. Signed, Thos N. Williams.6 He died before 3 November 1823 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that his will was probated. Jno E. Nottingham declined the administration and Nath Holland was appointed administrator. $15,000 bond. Appraisers: John Harmanson, John Simkins, William Fitchett and John E. Nottingham. On May 17, 1824, Anne S. Williams, widow of Thomas N. Williams, "declares that she will not accept, receive or take the legacies to her given and bequeathed, in the will of her husband, or any part thereof and renounces all benefit and advantage she might claim by the said will." Inventory, Appraisal & Account of Sales taken on December 20, 1823. By Jno. E. Nottingham, Wm. Fitchett and Jno Simkins. Audit & Settlement. Administrator not listed. Recorded on November 1, 1824.1,6

     Azariah Williams was born circa 1760 at Northampton Co, VA.1 Azariah was named in his father's will on 27 April 1780 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as a son Azariah in the will of Peter Williams, wife Anne.3 He married Anne Costin, daughter of Abraham Costin and Elizabeth Griffith, 14 Aug 1787 (bond) at Northampton Co, VA. Benja. Griffith was the security on the M.L.B. of Azariah Williams and Anne Costin.4 Azariah Williams bought land in 1796 at Northampton Co, VA. It was in this year that Azariah Williams bought considerable acreage west of the seaside road on Old Plantation Creek, a part of the tract which had originally been a grant to Sir Thomas Dale. He bought it from some of the heirs of John Widgeon, wife Ann, who left the lower part of it to a son John and the balance to children Nathaniel, William, Mary and Saly. A survey in 1796 showed 172 1/2 acres in total.5,6 Azariah was named in his brother's will on 28 September 1806 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as my brother Azariah Williams and named to be Extr. in the will of John Williams Senr., wife Nancy.2 He died before 11 January 1808 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Azariah Williams was granted to Nathaniel Widgeon.1

     Emily Sarah Williams was born on 27 August 1829 at Northampton Co, VA.1 Emily was named in her father's will on 1 January 1834 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as a daughter Emily Sally Williams in the will of Thomas Williams Jr., widower.2 As of 2 March 1847,her married name was Scott.3 She married James Benjamin Scott, son of Benjamin Nottingham Scott and Mary Ann Goffigon, on 2 March 1847 at Northampton Co, VA. Nath'l L. Goffigon, guardian of James, was the security on the M.L.B. of James B. Scott and Miss Emily S. Williams. John W. Williams, guardian of Emily, was also security. They were married on 9 Mar 1847.3 Emily was listed with her husband in the census of 1850 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as Emily Scott, age 20 in HH#110 headed by James B. Scott, a 23 year old farmer.4 She died on 31 May 1903 at age 73.1 Emily was buried at Bayview, N'hamp Co, VA. Her tombstone shows her as Emily Sarah Scott, wife of J.B. & daughter of Thomas & Margaret Williams, 27 Aug 1829 - 31 May 1903.1

     Peter Williams I was born on 10 February 1732 at Northampton Co, VA.2 He married Anne (-----) circa 1760.3 Peter made a will on 27 April 1780 at Northampton Co, VA. To my son Azariah all the lands whereon I live and for want of his heirs to my son Peter. To my loving wife Anne use of entire estate during her widowhood to raise all my children and then to be div. by all my children except Azariah. George Powel and Moses Griffith extrs. Witt: Daniel R. Hall, Joseph 'X' Warren, William Cox.3 He died before 11 July 1780 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that his will was probated.3

     John Williams Sr. was born on 1 March 1772 at Old Plantation Creek, Northampton Co, VA.2 At a court head for N'hamp Co on Tuesday, 13 Sep 1785, it was ordered that John Williams, orphan of Peter Williams dec'd, aged 13 last March, be bound to his brother Azariah Williams to learn the trade of a shoemaker.3 He married Nancy Hughes, daughter of John Hughes and Mary Stockley, 24 Dec 1800 (bond) at Northampton Co, VA. Chas. Fitchett was the security on the M.L.B. of John Williams and Nancy Hughes. Wm. Stokely, guardian of Nancy gave consent.4 John made a will on 28 September 1806 at Northampton Co, VA. I give to my wife Nancy Williams one bed and furniture with curtains during her life or widowhood, but at her death or marriage to be divided equally with my children. My desire is that my brother Azariah Williams shall be my executor. Signed with his mark, John Williams. Witnesses: George Powell and Nath'l Benthall.1 He died before 8 December 1806 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that his will was probated. Administrator Azariah Williams. Appraisers: Joshua D. Fitchett, William Jarvis, John Griffith and John Williams. Inventory and Appraisement taken in 1806. Audit and Settlement of the estate of John Williams (son of Peter).
