It was on this date that administration on the estate of Henry Warren was granted to Walter Hyslop, Sarah Warren the widow of the dec'd having resigned.²

Whereas by the will of my dearly deceased husband I was given the right to dispose of his seat of land at Hungars Creek to any of his grandchildren then living: To William and Michael Rickards, the children of Michael Rickards, Sr., by his present wife Ann the dau. of my said husband (Capt.) William Jones, 550 A. according to the pattent dated 10 June 1664 to be eq. div; and if either of them die in their minority, the survivor to have the whole.      Anthony Hoskins was born circa 1635.¹ He married Joyce Jones, daughter of Capt. William Jones and (-----) (-----), circa 1660.¹ Anthony made a will on 19 June 1665 at Accomack Co, VA. Eldest daughter Elizabeth (under 16) sole heir. Daughter Ann. Wife Joyce Exec. & to have the use of my plantation for life. To Ralph Dow, Jr. an iron pott in the possession of his father. I confirm my former gift to Hugh Partridge, being a two year old heifer, a sow & their increase. To my servant Dorothy Young. Father Capt. William Jones & friend Lt. Col. William Waters supervisors of my will & "I desire them for God sake to assist my wife & children". Witt: Tob: Selvey, Robert Hutchinson.¹ He died before 16 August 1665 at Accomack Co, VA.      Michael Godwin was born circa 1686 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Michael was named in his grandfather's will on 4 January 1687/88 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as my grandson Michael Godwin and given one heifer in the will of Michael Ricksard, wife Ann. He also named a daughter Ann Godwin.¹

     William Dunton was born between 1654 and 1660. In Nov 1687 Wm Dunton was shown as age 27, putting his birth at 1660 and in 1690 his age was shown as 36, putting his birth at 1654.^1,3 He married Elizabeth Rickards, daughter of Michael Rickards Sr. and Ann Jones, before 4 January 1687/88 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ William Dunton received land as a gift in 1695 at tract N58, Bridgetown, N'hamp Co, VA. It was in this year that Thomas Dunton made a composite deed of gift, to take effect upon his death, for an equal division of the 600 acres among his five sons: Thomas, William, John, Benjamin and Joseph. In the document he made reference to the division lines which he had discussed with the sons, but unfortunately those lines were not in the deed so the exact division is uncertain except that the home part was to go his son Thomas. Three of the portions, except for a small part which went out of the family, were soon aborbed by the other two.² William made a will on 24 February 1708/9 at Northampton Co, VA. To my son William his choice of 2 lotts as I have laid them out, viz., the 120 A. where Michaell Halsbirt lives or the lott from the tan house gutt next to the gatte. To my son Richard Dunton the lot refused by William. To my son Michael Dunton the 100 A. plantation whereon I now live, and my wife Elizabeth to have her thirds in the said land for life. To my son Elius Dunton the other part of my land lying at the head of my land. To my dau. Ann Dunton. My son William to have liberty to pasture his animals as long as he remains with his mother. He was shown as John Godwin, son of my sister Frances Godwin, in the will of John Powell, mother Sarah Powell.¹ John was named in his grandmother's will on 29 May 1795 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as John Godwin, son Frances Godwin, in the will of Sarah Powell.² John was named in his father's will on 20 April 1826 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as my son John Godwin in the will of Laban Godwin.³

     Sarah 'Sally' Godwin was born circa 1787 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ Sarah was named in her grandmother's will on 29 May 1795 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as Sarah Godwin, daughter of Frances Godwin, in the will of Sarah Powell.¹ As of circa 1820,her married name was Cox.² She married (-----) Cox circa 1820.² Sarah was named in her father's will on 20 April 1826 at Northampton Co, VA.      Littleton K. Godwin was born circa 1789 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ Littleton was named in his grandmother's will on 29 May 1795 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as Littleton Godwin, son of Frances Godwin, in the will of Sarah Powell.¹ He married Susan 'Sukey' Johnson 18 Oct 1813 (bond) at Northampton Co, VA.      Joseph Powell Godwin was born circa 1791 at Northampton Co, VA.^1,2 Joseph was named in his grandmother's will on 29 May 1795 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as Joseph, son of Frances Godwin, in the will of Sarah Powell.¹ Joseph was named in his father's will on 20 April 1826 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as my son Joseph Godwin in the will of Laban Godwin.² Joseph witnessed a will on 25 November 1842 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that Geo. T. Yerby, Wm. Hanby, Joseph Godwin & Smith Nottingham witnessed the will of Thomas Nottingham, wife Mary Ann.³ On 14 Jun 1847 in N'hamp Co Joseph Godwin was one of the appointed appraisers of the estate of John G. Nelson, Thomas Smith Jr. administrator.⁴ He married Arinthia Roberts 01 Jan 1848 (bond) at Northampton Co, VA. Thomas Smith Jr. was the security on the M.L.B. of Joseph P. Godwin and Miss Arintha Roberts, daughter of Sally Roberts who gave consent. Michael Dowty & Wm. Christian were witnesses.⁵ On 14 Feb 1849 in N'hamp Co, Jos. P. Godwin witnessed the marriage of Stephen C. Gunter and Miss Tabitha S. Belote.⁵

     Mary K. 'Molly' Godwin was born circa 1793 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ Mary was named in her grandmother's will on 29 May 1795 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as Mary Godwin, daughter of Frances Godwin, in the will of Sarah Powell.¹ As of 4 March 1805,her married name was Showard.² She married James Sherwood on 4 March 1805 at Accomack Co, VA. They were shown as George Sherrod and Molly K. Godwin.² Mary K. 'Molly' Godwin died on 20 April 1826 at Northampton Co, VA. She was evidently dec'd by this date as her father Laban Godwin named a grandson Joseph Showard in his will instead of her.³

     (-----) Roberts was born circa 1765.¹ He married Sarah (545) Sally Powell, daughter of Jonathan (221) Powell and Sarah (-----), circa 1790.¹

     Edmund Roberts was born circa 1790 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ Edmund was named in his grandfather's will on 29 May 1795 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as a grandson Edmund Roberts (under 21) in the will of Sarah Powell.¹

George T. Yerby was the security on the M.L.B. of Laban Godwin and Ann A. Ward. Elizabeth Bool as to Ann's age.¹

     Ann S. West was born circa 1780.¹ As of 8 February 1802,her married name was Godwin.¹ She married Esau Godwin, son of Archibald (421) Godwin and Vianna Gray Pitts, on 8 February 1802 at Accomack Co, VA. Jonathan West was the security on the M.L.B. of Esau Godwin and Ann S. West.¹

     Nathaniel T. Fitchett was born circa 1788 at Northampton Co, VA.^1,2 Nathaniel was named in his father's will on 24 June 1816 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as my son Nathaniel F. Fitchett Sr. in the will of Jonathan Fitchett, Nancy Fitchett.² Nathaniel was named in his sister's will on 17 September 1817 at Accomack Co, VA. George H. Ewell & Nathaniel T. Fitchett were securities at probate of the will of Elizabeth Fitchett.³ He married Susanna P. Godwin, daughter of Archibald (421) Godwin and Vianna Gray Pitts, on 26 January 1820 at Accomack Co, VA. Edmund Godwin was the security on the M.L.B. of Nathaniel T. Fitchett and Susanna P. Godwin.¹ Nathaniel made a will on 18 June 1832 at Northampton Co, VA. My will and desire is that my executors herein after named make sale of the whole of my estate of every kind & description whatever & out of the money arising from such sale pay all my just debts & the balance I desire should be equally divided between my three children by my first wife, Vianna, Denwood and Edward. It is my wish that my children by my last wife should have no part of my estate. I hereby nominate & appoint my friend Thomas Smith executor. Signed, Nathaniel Fitchett. Witnesses: W. W. Cutler, R.S.      James Sherwood was born circa 1780.¹ He married Mary K. 'Molly' Godwin, daughter of Laban (427) Godwin and Frances (544) Powell, on 4 March 1805 at Accomack Co, VA. They were shown as George Sherrod and Molly K. Godwin.¹

     Joseph Sherwood was born circa 1806 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Joseph was named in his grandfather's will on 20 April 1826 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as a grandson Joseph Showard in the will of Laban Godwin.¹

     Sally Floyd was born circa 1779 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Sally was named in her uncle's will on 27 March 1779 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as Sally Floyd, daughter of Charles Floyd, in the Codicil to the will of Thomas Evans, wife Sarah. Evidently Charles Floyd was a brother to Thomas Evans' wife Sarah.³ Sally was named in her father's will on 22 March 1785 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as daughter Sally Floyd in the will of Charles Floyd, wife Elizabeth. She was given £25.² As of 3 March 1807,her married name was Godwin.¹ She married Devorax Godwin IV, son of Kendall Godwin, 03 Mar 1807 (bond) at Northampton Co, VA. Ezekiel Badger was the security on the M.L.B. of Devorax Godwin and Sally Floyd.¹ As of 17 November 1823,her married name was Rooks.¹ Sally Floyd married William Rooks Sr. on 17 November 1823 at Northampton Co, VA. Johannis Johnson was the security on the M.L.B. of William Rooks and Sally Godwin, widow of Deveraux.¹

     Margaret Jacob was born circa 1815 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ As of 16 June 1838,her married name was Godwin.¹ She married Devorax Godwin VI, son of Laban (427) Godwin and Letty Floyd, on 16 June 1838 at Northampton Co, VA. Teackle Jacob was the security on the M.L.B. of Devorax Godwin and Margaret Jacob, daughter of Teackle Jacob. Edmund S. Godwin as to Devorax's age. They were married on 18 Jun 1838.¹ Margaret Jacob died before 9 October 1843 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that a receipt was recorded from Devorax Godwin for $126.23 in full of Margaret Godwin, my dec'd wife's share of said Jacob Teackle's estate and also as guardian of George and John Jacob heirs of said Jacob, $126.23 for each of them.²

     Devorax Godwin V was born circa 1796 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ He died before 20 April 1826 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that Laban Godwin's will named grandchildren Charles Godwin and William Godwin, children of my dec'd son Devorax Godwin. He also named a living son Devorax Godwin.¹

Godwin, son of Laban (427) Godwin and Letty Floyd, 14 Apr 1834 (bond) at Northampton Co, VA. Thomas Melhollomes was the security on the M.L.B. of Edmund S. Godwin and Susan T. Melhollomes and as to Edmund's age. Obedience R. Johnson was a witness. They were married on 17 Apr 1834.¹ Susan T. Melholloms died before 10 May 1836 at Northampton Co, VA. She was evidently dec'd by the date her father wrote his will as he named a granddaughter Susan T. Godwin, provided she lives to the age of 15 years. He also named Edmund S. Godwin.²

     Thomas Melholloms was born circa 1765 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ He married Nancy Joynes 19 Aug 1801 (bond) at Northampton Co, VA. John Bird was the security on the M.L.B. of Thomas Melholloms and Nancy Joynes.¹ Thomas made a will on 10 May 1836 at Northampton Co, VA. I give to my son Wm W. Mehollomes. I also give him the buro that was his sister Elizabeth's. I give to my daughter Lurana S. Bishop. I give to Edmund S. Godwin. The balance of my property I lend to my dearly beloved wife Nancy Mehollomes so long as she lives my widow. I give to Caroline Bishop the chest that was her Aunt Elizabeth's and I give to Kessey Bishop the chest that was my wife's. Two hundred dollars to be kept in the hands of my executor for my grand daughter Susan T. Godwin provided she lives to the age of fifteen years. Son Wm W. Mehollomes executor. Signed, Thomas Mehollomes. Witnesses: Leo'd B. Nottingham, Wm W. West, A.P. Upshur.² He died on 9 January 1837 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that his will was probated.²

Robert Haggoman was the security on the M.L.B. of John Godwin and Polly Haggoman. John was born 16 Dec 1800, the son of John Godwin and Polly was the daughter of the said Robert Haggoman. They were married on 20 Aug 1823.¹ John Godwin died before 14 August 1837 at Northampton Co, VA.      Polly Haggoman (?) was born circa 1802.¹ As of 19 August 1823,her married name was Godwin.¹ She married John Godwin, son of John Godwin and (-----) (-----), on 19 August 1823 at Northampton Co, VA. Robert Haggoman was the security on the M.L.B. of John Godwin and Polly Haggoman. John was born 16 Dec 1800, the son of John Godwin and Polly was the daughter of the said Robert Haggoman. They were married on 20 Aug 1823.¹ Polly was listed with another family in the census of 1850 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as Polly Godwin, age 44 in HH#185 headed by John Eyre, an 82 year old farmer.²

     Betty A. Reid was born in 1928 at Pocomoke City, Wor Co, MD. As of circa 1950,her married name was Fisher. She died on 28 December 1995 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, Wic Co, MD. Mrs. Betty A. Fisher, 67, a resident of Wattsville, died in Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, MD on Thursday, 28 Dec 1995. Born in Pocomoke City, she was the daughter of the late George and Virgie Payne Reid. She was a member of Atlantic Baptish Church. Interment was in Remson United Methodist Cemetery, Pocomoke City. She is survived by 3 children, Teresa L. Perdue and Barbara A. Lusby, both of Pocomoke City, MD and Donna F. Darby of Assawoman, 2 sisters Eleanor Bunting and Barbara Henderson, both of Pocomoke City; 5 grandchildren Blair Lusby, Jordan Lusby, Mark Vincent Lusby Jr., Zachary Darby and Taylor Darby; 1 niece and 3 nephews. She was predeceased by a son Levin Woodson Fisher III in 1982.

     Levin Woodson Fisher III was born circa 1950. He died in 1982.
