     Sarah Bell Stott Gascoigne was born circa 1774 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ Sarah was named in her father's will on 18 March 1775 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as my daughter Sarah Bell Stott Gascoygne (under 18) in the will of Henry Gascoygne.¹ As of 27 October 1789,her married name was Turpin.² She married John Turpin 27 Oct 1789 (bond) at Northampton Co, VA. John Upshur Jr. was the security on the M.L.B. of John Turpin and Sally B. Gascoyne. Thomas Upshur Sr. gave consent for Sally.² Sarah Bell Stott Gascoigne sold land in 1799 at Northampton Co, VA. It was in this year that Sarah Turpin, widow, sold 61 acres of tract N71 to Littleton Upshur.³ As of 27 January 1801,her married name was Kellam.² She married Walter Kellam, son of Argil Kellam and (-----) (-----), 27 Jan 1801 (bond) at Northampton Co, VA. Ismay Johnson was the security on the M.L.B. of Walter Kellum and Sarah Turpin (widow of John Turpin).² Sarah Bell Stott Gascoigne deeded land in 1812 at Northampton Co, VA. It was in this year that Walter and Sarah Kellam deeded 155 1/2 acres of tract N71 to her sons John D. and Thomas, being the western part on the creek. Three years later John D. and his wife Nancy Turpin deeded his interest to his brother Thomas, and two years after that Thomas H. & Leah Turpin sold to William Costin. In 1816 Walter and Sally Kellam sold the balance of 151 1/2 acres to William M. Upshur.³ She sold land in 1822 at Northampton Co, VA. It was in this year that Sally Kellam, widow of Walter, joined the sheriff in a sale of her husband Walter Kellam's part of tract N70 to Major S. Pitts.⁴ She was named in her husband's estate settlement on 11 March 1822 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as Sally Kellam, widow of Walter Kellam.⁵ She died before 10 May 1824 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Sally Kellam was granted to John D. Turpin.⁶

     Thomas Brown Upshur was born on 17 July 1799.¹ He died on 29 July 1800 at age 1.¹ Thomas was buried at Brownsville, N'hamp Co, VA.²

     William Brown Upshur I was born on 5 November 1801.¹ William was named in his grandmother's will on 3 April 1816 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as my grandson William Upshur in the will of Anne Upshur, widow of Thomas Upshur.² William was named in his father's will on 25 July 1838 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as my son William B. Upshur in the will of John Upshur Sr. of Brownsville.³ He married Catherine Teackle Neale, daughter of William Neale and Elizabeth Teackle Smith, on 3 November 1851 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as William B. Upshur and she was shown as Miss Catharine T. Neale, daughter of Elizabeth T. Neale. After the war he went to Sumter, SC and then to Texas and then back to the Eastern Shore of Virginia in 1884 to live at 'Brownsville.' He then became an authority on the history and genealogy of the Eastern Shore.¹ He married Caroline DeSaussure Blanding, daughter of Col.      John Ashby Dick was born on 29 September 1868 at Oswego, SC.¹ He married Florence Irving Upshur, daughter of Thomas Teackle Upshur II and Caroline DeSaussure Blanding, on 27 December 1917.¹ John Ashby Dick died on 2 February 1943 at age 74.¹

     Anne Floyd Upshur was born on 25 October 1882 at Sumter, SC.^1,2 Anne Floyd Upshur lived at 'Brownsville' since ealy childhood. She collaborated with Ralph T. Whitelaw in writing Virginia's Eastern Shore. It has been noted that she did the genealogy and Whitelaw did the land history.¹ She died on 17 August 1967 at age 84.^1,2 Anne was buried at Brownsville, N'hamp Co, VA.²

     Caroline DeSaussure Upshur was born on 30 January 1886 at Brownsville, N'hamp Co, VA.¹ As of 10 September 1910,her married name was Baker.¹ She married Henry Ball Baker on 10 September 1910. They lived in Exton, PA.¹ Caroline DeSaussure Upshur died on 18 September 1948 at age 62.¹

     Henry Ball Baker was born on 18 June 1882.¹ He married Caroline DeSaussure Upshur, daughter of Thomas Teackle Upshur II and Caroline DeSaussure Blanding, on 10 September 1910. They lived in Exton, PA.¹

     Thomas Teackle Upshur III was born on 18 August 1888.¹ He died on 31 May 1915 at age 26.¹ Thomas was buried at Brownsville, N'hamp Co, VA.^1,2
