It was on this date that Capt. Obedience Johnson's made a deed of gift of 270 acres to his son John Johnson, of "one moiety of my Neck of land called Mattisippe, it being the southwest side thereof. Depositions are included from Washburn (age 25) and John (age 30), sons of Capt. Obedience Johnson who sold the land in 1722. In 1732 Waton & wife Joyce sold to William Kellam and in 1747 he sold to Nathaniel Kellam.3 On 29 Jun 1748 Richard Drummond (attorney: William Arbuckle) sued "William Kellam Junr," son of Nathaniel Kellam, otherwise called William Kellam Junr of Accomack County. William failed to appear, so the judgement against him and his bail (Nathaniel Kellam) was confirmed; they were to pay £8:03:04 and 720 feet of plank with the costs of the suit.5 He deeded land as a gift in 1752 at Accomack Co, VA. According to Henrietta Ayres Sheppard, Captain Obedience Johnson (2nd or Jr.) married Dorothy Washburne, daughter of John Washburne and his wife Susanna, who was a daughter of Thomas Savage and his wife Bridget. (Sources: N'hamp County Papers - Package 29, a suit over land with Kellam, Causes 1743.) Henrietta also noted there was a suit in N'hamp Co concerning a road which was described in Bundle 29, which she had seen and which has disappeared from the stacks of the County Records. (NOTE: Based on the date of certified copies, she was doing this research in 1921.).1,2 John witnessed a will on 6 October 1686 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that John Washburne, John Fenn & Daniel Ograhan Jr. witnessed the will of Edward Revell, wife Frances.3 He had a child bound to him on 1 February 1697/98 at Accomack Co, VA. Benjamin Prewitt, in consideration of the desire of his late wife and of the affection which his ?quondam? Master & Mrs. John Washbourne and wife, have manifested toward said Prewitts daughter, Esther, who was 3 years of age the first day of November last past, and being born in their house, grants that his said daughter shall continue to live with his Master, Mr. John Washbourne and Susanna his wife, or the survivor of them until she attains her lawful age.4 He made a will on 28 March 1721 at Accomack Co, VA.
