William was born circa 1716 at Accomack Co, VA. William was named in his father's will on 30 August 1734 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as a son William Ewell (under age) in the will of Solomon Ewell, wife Comfort. He was given the land purchased of Samuel Davis & Naomi his wife, being 450 acres. According to Whitelaw, this land became involved in a suit; after the death of her first husband Samuel Davis, Naomi married Joseph Stockley, who discovered that she had not been privately examined before she signed the deed to Solomon Ewell with Samuel Davis, so Stockley now claimed that the sale should be declared void. He was successful, but he and Naomi deeded it in three parts, as follows: in 1747 the water-front end to William Ewell; in 1748 the next 100 acres to Thomas Matthews, who had married Naomi, the daughter of Samuel and Naomi Davis; the upper 100 acres to George Matthews, who had married another Davis daughter, Comfort..1,2 He married Leah (-----) circa 1755.2 William was named as the executor of a will on 8 January 1757 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as William Ewell who qualifed to settle the estate of Naomy Ewell when the named Extr. John Watts refused to qualify..3 William sold land in 1757 at Accomack Co, VA. It was in this year that William Ewell & wife Leah sold the 200 acres at the water-front that he acquried in 1747 from Joseph Stockley & wife Naomi to William Nicholson, who died intestate in 1760 leaving a widow Arcadia and 24 years leater, William Ewell confirmed the title to John Nicholson, son of William..2 He married Peggy (-----) circa 1775.4 He made a will on 10 December 1790 at Accomack Co, VA. To wife Peggy all the estate I hold by her intermarriage during her widow & then to my daughter Rebecca Ewell, & for want of heirs to my son William Ewell. To sons Charles & William Ewell the lower part of my plantation from the water upwards. To son Solomon Ewell the head of my land to be cut off from Mathews line with a straight line to Whittington's land, containing 120 acres, & for want of heirs to be divided between the surviving brothers. Rebecca Ewell residual legatee. Sons Charles, Solomon & William Exrs. Witt: William Downing, George Whittington, Arthur Whittington. According to Whitelaw, he left the northwestern 120 acres to his son Solomon, the water-front part as 165 acres to son Charles, and the middle portion to his son William..4,2 William died before 25 January 1791 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that his will was probated..4
