The slaves desecnded to the said Frances and her two sisters, Rachel and Joanna, infants under age 21. The three daughters were coheirs subject to the dowwer of their mother, Susanna. The said Susanna vested herself of the slaves as administrix of the estate and guardian of the three daughters. She soon married John Ellegood. They, the said Susanna and John kept possession of the two slaves and all of the profits from there on. Susanna died in 1751. Nathan Wilkins, brother to the above Jonathan and Uncle to Frances, Rachel & Jonna died in 1747 (adm 8 Mar 1747) unmarried. His sundry slaves (Mary & Dinah, woman & a girl) descended to the three Wilkins sisters. The said John Ellegood, after the death of his wife Susanna, held possession of all the slaves as guardian. However, Frances, after the death of her mother, chose John Smaw as her guardian. Since then she has frequently applied to her sisters, Rachel and Joanna for a partition of the slaves and their increase now living: Leah, Jack, Daniel, Esther, Ben and ... (paper torn). This petition asks the Court to order a division. Filed 15 May 1754 & the partition was ordered.5

John was born in 1698 at Northampton Co, VA. John was named in his father's will on 15 December 1718 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as a son John in the will of Charles Floyd, wife Elizabeth. To my son John the plantation whereon I now live, and my part of Pront Island, and all my clothes..1 John was named as administrator of an estate on 21 June 1720 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Mrs. (-----) (-----) was granted to her son John Floyd on behalf of himself and the rest of his brethren.2 He was named in the settlement of his father's estate on 20 September 1720 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that the Court approved the inventory and appraisal of the estates of both Charles and Elizabeth Floyd on the oath of their son John, since no inventory of Charles' estate had been returned during the lifetime of his executris.3 On Mar 1724/25 John Groves and Margaret his wife petition concerning the plantation owned by her father, George Esdall dec'd. The said land decended to the said Margaret as heir. The admr Charles Floyd was allowed to have the use & benefit of the plantation until some person should be qualified to take over and deliver it in good repair to whom it should belong. The said Charles died and since his death John Floyd, admr of Elizabeth Floyd who was admr of the said Charles, has been in possession and has received the benefits. Yet he refuses to put it in good order and will not deliver it to the said Margaret to whom the plantation belongs. The petitioners ask the Court to summons the said John to answer to the above. Case referred to arbitration and dismissed.4 He bought land in 1736 at Northampton Co, VA. It was in this year that John Floyd bought 55 acres of tract N37 from Berry & Amy Wilkins.5 He bought land in 1749 at Northampton Co, VA. It was in this year that James and John Floyd bought 60 acres of tract N37 from John Wilkins. (NOTE: They are assumed to have been brothers.).5,6 He bought land in 1760 at Northampton Co, VA. It was in this year that Watkins Wilkins, son of Berry, sold the same 60 acres of tract N37 (that James Cox sold in 1749 to James & John Floyd) to John Floyd alone. The deed stated that it was the land which Argoll had left to son John, who in 1726 had left to son George, but if he had no heir, then to a daughter Anne Mary, and if she had no heir, then to wife Violet for life with reversion to his brother Argoll. Anne Mary had married James Cox and they had two children but both had died, so that the title had passed to Argoll Wilkins II.5 He died after 1760.
