Savage was the security on the M.L.B. of Thomas Kendall and Elizabeth Matthews, widow of John Matthews. Thomas made a will on 24 January 1799 at Northampton Co, VA. All my lands to be rented out until my son Littleton is 22 years old, the money therefrom to be eq. div. by my sons and daus. At said time my plantation called "Townfields" to my son John W. Kendall. To my son Littleton the plantation I formerly lived on and the lands purchased from Nelson Robins and Henry Guy. If sons should die then lands to be div. by the surviving son and my three daus. Elizabeth H. Floyd, Susanna Kendall and Ann Kendall. Resid. legatees my three daus. Executors to select out of my estate a handsome secretary and present it to Mrs. Ann Simpkins. Nephews John and Mathew Floyd and my son John W. Kendall extrs. Witt: Mathew Guy, William Wilkins, Jacob Nottingham. I lend all my estate rail & personal after paying my just debts to my son William Jarvis during his life after his death I give my grandson Thomas Jarvis the plantation whereon I now live, viz the land given to me by my father with the addition of what land I purchased of Thomas Dunton to him & his heirs forever. At the death of my son William Jarvis I give my grandson John W. Jarvis the plantation I purchased of B. Tompkins containing 300 acres. I appoint my brother William Jarvis Senr & my son William Jarvis Junr executors. Signed, Thomas Jarvis. John was born in 1749 at Northampton Co, VA. John was named in his his aunt's will on 28 April 1750 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as kinsman (grand-nephew) John Savage, son of Ann Jacob, and given the lease and bond to the 50 acres I now live on in the will of Margaret Ellegood.2 He married Margaret (50) Waters, daughter of William (19) Waters and Rose (21) Harmanson, circa 1775.1 Maj. John (161) Savage V sold land in 1783 at Northampton Co, VA. It was in this year that John and Margaret Savage sold all of his land here as 915 acres, which would have been the 700 acres left by Capt. John Savage in 1678, the 100 acres released by Thomas Savage in 1737, and some odd parcels purchased from adjacent owners.3 John died on 31 July 1792 at Accomack Co, VA.4

Savage, late of the city of Baltimore, departed this life intestate, seized of three lots of land in the county of Accomack, leaving Sally Savage his widow, and Margaret Savage an infant daughter. That the said three lots of land, being detached from each other, without houses or ----- thereon ------ that the said Severn was at the time of his death indebted on bonds to a considerable amount, and having no personal estate, the claims on these lands remain as a lien on the said lands; and the said Sally Savage having petitioned the Legislature that an act may pass authorizing a sale of the said lots for the payment of the debts of the said Severn E. Savage died seized, and convey the same to the purchaser or purchasers thereof in fee simple. And the said commissioners, or any two of them, are hereby authorized to ----- the proceeds of the sales of the said lands, or such part thereof as may be necessary, towards the payment of debts remaining due from the estate of the said descendant, and which are a legal or equitable lien on said lands; and the balance of the said proceeds, if any, they shall account for and pay to the widow such part thereof as the said county court of Accomack shall adjudge and decree equitable, not exceeding one-ninth(?), and the balance to the guardian of the said infant daughter of the said Severn E. If my wife should marry before my daughter Mary arrives to age of twenty one years the my wife's interest or right in Cherry Grove before devised to cease. I also will and direct that all the money which may belong to me in the mercantile concerns of William Scott and William Bain & Co., be equally divided between my said wife and daughter. If my said wife & acting executor or executors shall think it better for my daughter that the part of my land called Hill Fields be sold for payment of my debts, I do for this purpose hereby devise to my acting executor or executors the said Hill Fields containing by estimation one hundred and fifty acres. I do constitute & appoint my beloved wife Susanna and my particular friends George Parker and John Eyre Esquire, executors and guardians to my daughter Mary Ann. Signed, William Burton Savage.
