She was shown as my daughter-in-law (step-daughter) Margaret Roberts in the will of Jacob Marshall, planter..² As of 8 May 1753,her married name was Rogers.^1,3 She married Major (103) Rogers, son of Jacob Rogers and Matilda (22) West, on 8 May 1753 at Northampton Co, VA.^1,3 Margaret was named in her husband's will on 9 December 1762 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as wife Margaret in the will of Major Rodgers. She was given whole estate during her widowhood, reversion to my 3 children now alive.⁴ As of circa 1764,her married name was Kellam.⁵ She married Argol Kellam Sr., son of John Kellam and Ursilla Smith, circa 1764 at Accomack Co, VA.⁵ Margaret was named in her husband's will on 2 October 1784 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as wife Margaret in the will of Argol Kellam.⁶ Margaret was named in her brother's will on 10 February 1791 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as Margaret Kellam, mother of Mary Rodgers.⁵

Witt: John Revell, Luke Luker, Leah Revell.⁴ Major died before 25 January 1763 at Accomack Co, VA.^3,4 He estate was settled on 26 January 1801 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that an audit of the estate of Major Rodgers dated 9 Jul 1785 was recorded. Named in settlement: Mary Rodgers' part returned to court 3 Aug 1768, interest until Aug 1775. Ann Rodgers' part returned to court 30 Aug 1768. Ann Rodgers estate to Argil Kellam's guardian. Auditors: John Smith & William Garrison.⁵

     George was born in 1787 at Accomack Co, VA.³ He married Ellen Flinn on 15 December 1810 at New York City, NY. The family Bible record shows her as Ellen Culis..³ A seaman named George Hall, was shown as age 27 when he applied for a seaman protection certificate out of the port of New York on 26 Sep 1815. His nativity was shown as (-----), Virginia. He was 5 feet 7 1/4 inches tall. There was no actual seaman protection certificate found among the records of the U.S. Customs Service.³ On 12 Jan 1819 in New York City, George Hall, No. 378, age 31 (b.c. 1788), 5 ft 7 1/2 tall and light complexion, was shown as born in Accomack, Virginia on a Seaman's Protection Certificate list.¹ George died on 24 December 1828 at Brooklyn, NY. His death record shows him as George Hall, a residence of Fletcher St., who died of consumption. His place of nativity was shown as Ireland..³ His body was interred at Old St. Patrick's Cem, New York City, NY. George was named as an heir on 25 September 1832 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that it was recorded in Acc Orders 1832-36, p17, that George Hall the younger had infant childern: Mary Ann, Eliza and John Hall. Their gaurdian, John C. Hall, was George's brother. John C. Hall and George the younger being children of George Hall the elder..²

     Ellen was born in 1785 at Ireland.¹ She married George Hall, son of George Hall (the elder) and Polly Clark, on 15 December 1810 at New York City, NY. The family Bible record shows her as Ellen Culis..¹ Ellen died on 30 December 1857 at Brooklyn, NY.¹ Her body was interred at Greenwood Cem, Brooklyn, NY.¹

     Mary was born on 10 June 1812 at Brooklyn, NY.¹ She married Charles W.F. Dare on 8 September 1829 at Brooklyn, NY.¹ Mary died on 2 September 1901 at Selden, NY, at age 89. She was shown as Mary Ann Dare, who died on 2 Sep 1901 at the age of 89 years, 2 months & 22 days. She had been living in Seldon for 60 years. She was widowed and born in New York City. Her parents were shown as George Hall, born in Virginia and Ellan Hall, born in Ireland..²

     Charles was born on 19 January 1806 at Lancashire, England.¹ He married Mary Ann Hall, daughter of George Hall and Ellen Flinn, on 8 September 1829 at Brooklyn, NY.¹ Charles died on 8 April 1888 at age 82.¹

     Eliza was born on 5 June 1814 at Brooklyn, NY. She married James K. Hayes circa 1835.¹

     James was born circa 1810. He married Eliza T. Hall, daughter of George Hall and Ellen Flinn, circa 1835.¹

     John was born on 16 June 1816 at Brooklyn, NY. He married Honorah A. Barry on 16 December 1841 at Brooklyn, NY.¹ John died on 20 March 1898 at Brooklyn, NY, at age 81. His body was interred at Greenwood Cem, Brooklyn, NY.

     Honorah was born in November 1819 at Ireland. She married John T. Hall, son of George Hall and Ellen Flinn, on 16 December 1841 at Brooklyn, NY.¹ Honorah died on 6 October 1887 at Brooklyn, NY, at age 67. Her body was interred at Greenwood Cem, Brooklyn, NY.

     George was born on 15 April 1818 at Brooklyn, NY.¹ George died on 28 June 1830 at New York City, NY, at age 12.¹

     Thomas was born on 20 February 1820 at Brooklyn, NY. Thomas died on 21 June 1820 at Brooklyn, NY. His body was interred at Old St. Patrick's Cem, New York City, NY.

     Charles was born on 16 February 1822 at Brooklyn, NY. Charles died on 25 February 1822. His body was interred at Old St. Patrick's Cem, New York City, NY.

     William was born in 1847 at Brooklyn, NY. He married Mary Elizabeth McGivern circa 1870.¹ William was listed as a head of household in the census of in 1880 at Brooklyn, New York City, Kings Co, NY. He was shown as William L. Hall, a 33 year old Sandy Hook Pilot, born in NY. His father was born in NY & his mother was born in Ireland. Listed with him were the following Halls: Mary E., a 29 year old wife; William C., an 8 year old son; Thomas F., a 6 year old son; George, a 5 year old son; Honora, a 4 year old daughter; Henry, a 2 year old son; and Warren, a 1 month old son. Also listed was Mary Douglas, a 30 year old servant, born in Ireland..² William died on 6 January 1908. He died at sea..

     Mary was born on 10 July 1851 at Brooklyn, NY. She married William C. Hall, son of John T. Hall and Honorah A. Barry, circa 1870.¹ Mary died on 15 November 1925 at Brooklyn, NY, at age 74.

     William was born on 18 March 1872 at Brooklyn, NY. He married Margaret Shanahan on 16 June 1897 at Brooklyn, NY.¹ William died on 12 January 1964 at Coral Gables, FL, at age 91.

     Margaret was born on 14 June 1872 at Brooklyn, NY. She married William Cadik Hall, son of William C. Hall and Mary Elizabeth McGivern, on 16 June 1897 at Brooklyn, NY.¹ Margaret died on 5 August 1951 at Coral Gables, FL, at age 79.

     William was born on 11 November 1907 at Brooklyn, NY. He married Katherine Clark on 25 June 1938 at Newark, NJ. William died on 5 January 1978 at Livingston, NJ, at age 70.

     Katherine was born on 10 September 1912 at Newark, NJ. She married William Seward Hall, son of William Cadik Hall and Margaret Shanahan, on 25 June 1938 at Newark, NJ. Katherine died on 23 August 1946 at Newark, NJ, at age 33.

     William was born on 3 May 1935 at New York City, NY.

     John was born circa 1735 at Somerset Co, MD. He married Elizabeth (193) Marshall, daughter of George (77) Marshall and Mary Adams, circa 1760.^1,2

     Esme was born circa 1720 at Northampton Co, VA.² He married Mary Nairne, daughter of Robert Nairne and Jannet Watts, circa 1745.² He married Mary Brittingham, daughter of Elijah Brittingham and Sarah Newbold, circa 1760 at Worcester Co, MD.³ Esme's three children not named by his first wife's brother may have been by his second wife, Mary Brittingham: George, Priscilla and Isme. Esme was the eldest son of Thomas Marshall and shown as Ishmael on some documents. (Northampton Orders 1732-1742, pp. 405, 443; Accomack District Court Orders 1789-1797, p. 300, copied by James Marshall) He was in Worcester Co., MD by 1760. On 1 Sept 1764, Esme and Mary** sold 250A of 'Hog Quarter' to George Layfield and John Nairn for 5 shillings, Mary was under age. In 1767, he sold 269A in Northampton and purchased 'Rudder' at Pitts Creek Hundred. Esme's son, Thomas, bought 'Rudder' from Esme in 1772. 'Rudder,' 'Brittingham's Chance,' and 'Brittingham's Addition,' were all acquired by Esme from the widow of descendants of Elijah Brittingham. (Ruth T. Dryden, Land Records of Worcester Co. MD, pp. 75, 134, 394, 533) **The land abstract for 'Hog Quarter' shows Esme and wife Mary sold...she was under age. Mary Nairn was named by her grandfather in 1732, so she could not have been under age in 1764. It is suspicious that Mary Nairn died by 1764 and Esme married a second time to a Mary, possibly Mary Brittingham, daughter of Elijah. Mary Nairn is not named in the tri-partie agreement before the marriage of her mother, Janet Nairn, to Jabez Pitts, nor is she named in the 1771 will of her brother, John. The 1771 will of John Nairn, Mary's brother, provided the names of Mary and Esme's children, as Esme died without a will. Bonds were posted 5 Oct 1784 for the administration of Esme's estate in Worchester Co, MD by George Marshall, Thomas Marshall and John Marshall rejected the administration. Thomas and John Marshall provided inventory and the next of kin were listed as Levin and Theophilus Marshall.(Ruth Dryden, Worcester Admin. Bonds & Inventories, p. 15) John Nairn named the children of his sister, Mary: Thomas, John, Robert and William. NOTE: The George Marshall who administered the estate is probably the same George Marshall for whom Thomas, son of Esme, holds a mortgage in Worcester County. He is not named in the will of John Nairn as a child of Mary Nairn, nor is he named in the will of William Allen. Patience Marshall who married William Waller is not named by John Nairn or William Allen. George and Patience might have been children from Esme's second marriage; George may have been a child of the second marriage and Patience deceased by 1771. That they were children of Esme is not proved and based in large part on the names of their children--George Esme Marshall and Esme Marshall Waller. The 1810 census of Worcester County shows what looks like Isme or Ismel Marshall as 45+ with one female 10-16 and one female 26-45. If this is Isme, he is too old to be Esme's grandson. Again, neither John Nairn nor William Allen named an      Isme/Esme in their wills.⁴ Esme was named as an heir on 24 March 1771 at Worcester Co, MD. In his will of this date, John Nairne named Robert, Thomas and William Allen Marshall, sons of Esme Marshall; and also sister Mary Marshall's children..³ Esme died in 1784 at Worcester Co, MD.²

     Mary was born before 22 September 1732.² Mary was named in the will of her grandfather in 1732 and by her cousin, Francis Drummond, in 1741. Her father only named two of her children in his 1761 will (Robert Henry Marshall and Elizabeth Marshall). Mary was not named in the Tri-Partie deed by her mother in 1767. In his 1771 will, John Nairn named the children of his sister Mary, but did not name her specifically. A deed for "Hog Quarter" abstracted by Ruth Dryden shows Esme Marshall and his wife Mary and that Mary was under age. It appears Mary Nairn died before September 1, 1764, the date of the deed for "Hog Quarter." He m. 2nd about 1764 Mary Brittingham, dtr of Elijah Brittingham & Sarah Newbold. She was called Mary Brittingham in her father's will. Esme Marshall and his under age wife, Mary, sold "Hog Quarter" for 5 shillings to George Layfield and John Nairn. Layfield and Nairn would have been relations to Esme's wife, Mary Nairn. Esme's first wife, Mary Nairn, would not have been under age in 1764. Mary Brittingham may have been Esme's second wife.³ She married Esme Marshall, son of Thomas Marshall and Patience 'V' (-----), circa 1745.² Mary died before 18 April 1767.² Mary was named in her brother's will on 24 March 1771 at Worcester Co, MD. In his will of this date, John Nairne named Robert, Thomas and William Allen Marshall, sons of Esme Marshall; and also sister Mary Marshall's children..¹

     Sarah was born circa 1722 at Somerset Co, MD. She married James Gunby on 26 November 1744 at Coventry Parish, Som Co, MD.²

     John was born circa 1748 at Marumsco, Som Co, MD. He married Ann 'Nancy' Wailes, daughter of John Wailes, on 2 May 1776.² A John Marshall served as a Sergeant in the Somerset Militia, Princess Anne Battalion under Capt. George Waters' Pocomoke Company, 1780. Because he took the Oath of Allegiance in Worcester in 1778 before the Hon. James Selby, (Henry C. Peden, Jr., Revolutionary Patriots of Worcester & Somerset Cos. MD, Willow Bend Books, Westminster, MD, 1999, p. 188) Mary Brittingham's will was probated in 1784; she named her daughter Deliliah Purnell and three grandchildren: Mary, Milby and Sarah. (Vernon L. Skinner, Worcester Co., MD Wills JW13, p.3) John Drummond is shown as the second son of Esme and Mary Marshall. He was under age in 1764. The "Maryland Herald & Eastern Shore Intelligencer" of April 22, 1800 shows Elizabeth Marshall and Benjamin Wailes as administrators of John D. Marshall late of Worcester County, Pitts Creek Hundred. (F. Edward Wright, Maryland Eastern Shore Newspaper Abstracts; Worcester Deeds Liber F, p. 217).³ He married Delilah Brittingham, daughter of Solomon Brittingham and Mary (-----), on 9 May 1793.³ John died before 22 April 1800.¹

     Ann was born circa 1750. She married John Drummond Marshall, son of Esme Marshall and Mary Nairne, on 2 May 1776.² Ann died on 18 October 1789 at Worcester Co, MD.¹

     Delilah was born circa 1750. She married Levi Purnell Jr. circa 1775. She married John Drummond Marshall, son of Esme Marshall and Mary Nairne, on 9 May 1793.¹

     Azariah was born on 10 October 1765 at Somerset Co, MD.¹ He married Mary Marshall, daughter of Thomas Marshall and Esther (198) Marshall, on 25 July 1787. They had 5 children..^2,1

     John was born circa 1755 at Somerset Co, MD. John served in the Revolutionary War in in 1775 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as John Marshall, a Master's Mate in the Navy. Somerset Co. MD Orphans Court record from 30 November 1836 shows Benjamin & John Marshall left two brothers and two sisters only viz: George Marshall, Adrian Marshall, Ellis Marshall and Elizabeth Marshall, all of whom are dead, having left children and descendants of children, who are the only heirs at law of the said Benjamin Marshall and John Marshall. (NOTE: The named descendants are shown under the records of the 2 brothers and 2 sisters.).^1,2

     Nancy was born circa 1762 at Somerset Co, MD. She married George Lankford circa 1780.¹ Nancy died before 1836.¹ Nancy was named as an heir on 30 November 1836 at Somerset Co, MD. She was shown as Nancy Swift a daughter of Elizabeth Marshall, who was a sister of Benjamin & John Marshall sailors in the Rev. War. Nancy married married George Lankford by whom she left the following children viz: Gatty Lankford, Polly Lankford, Thomas Lankford ... now living ... except Wm Lankford & no others..¹

     George was born circa 1760. He married Nancy Swift, daughter of John Swift and Elizabeth (193) Marshall, circa 1780.¹
