In 1851 he became pastor of Ebenezer Church in Gloucester County.1 He married Margaret Elizabeth Holt, daughter of George Holt and Elizabeth Ann Savage, on 31 May 1852 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as Rev. A. Francis Scott and she was shown as Miss Margaret E. Holt, daughter of George Holt dec'd. They were married by P. Warren. They had 9 children..3,1 In 1869 he became pastor of Ephesus Church in Essex County. During this time, he was also the principal of Stevensville Academy, located in King and Queen County. After nineteen years at Ephesus he became pastor of Colosse Church in King William County and Glebe Landing Church in Middlesex County. He also served as Justice of the Peace in Gloucester during the Civil War. His portrait is in the collection of the Gloucester Court House.1 Rev. Azariah Francis 'A.F.' Scott married Julia Waring circa 1880 at Essex Co, VA. They had 4 children.1 Rev. Azariah Francis 'A.F.' Scott died on 7 October 1897 at age 75. Rev. A.F. Scott, a prominent Baptist minister of Essex, died at his home near Dunnsville, in that county, last week, aged 75 years. Mr. Scott was a native of Northampton, but had long resided on the other side of the bay. He preached and taught school for many years in the counties of Gloucester, King and Queen and Essex, making his mark and leaving an impression for good wherever he lived (Peninsula Enterprise, 16 Oct 1897).1
