Recognized by DAR as a Private in the GA Troops in the Rev War. His application for bounty land in Washington Co. included certification by Col. Greenberry Lee that he had served in the 2nd Battallion (Upper Regiment), 2nd Regiment - a unit that had been led by Colonels Benjamin Few, William Few, Greenbury Lee, and his father Major Isaac Jackson. During the War, he lived in Wrightsboro. In 1799, he held the rank of Lieutenant in the GA militia. A full inventory of his estate in 1830 is available. He owned and probably won a 202.5-acre lot in Monroe Co. in the land lottery of 1821, as well as 150 acres on Shoulderbone Creek, Hancock, Co. The census for Hancock Co. in 1830 shows 7 white males, 6 white females, 10 black males, and 10 black females in his household, for a total of 33 persons..² Henry died after 1830 at Hancock Co, GA.

     John was born on 1 June 1759 at Cumberland Co, VA. John served in the Revolutionary War in in 1776 at North Carolina. Enlisted in the Revolutionary War in Surry County, North Carolina in 1776. He hired a sub to take his place because his mother was a widow and he was the only son at home. In 1784 he went to Virginia for 1 & 1/2 years then returned to North Carolina. In 1786 he went to Spartanburg, South Carolina and in 1789 he went to West Tennessee and then to Green County, Georgia. In 1798 he went to Jackson County which is now Clarke County, Georgia.

Witt: Rueben Smith, Robert Howson Mapp, Thomas Baldwin J.P..² In Greene County in 1796, Charles Burk sold to John Smith negroes, Molinda & Siller. Robert Astin was witness. War he moved to Greene County, Georgia where he participated in the 1827 Georgia Land Lottery. He was successful in drawing land in Carroll County (which was later part of Campbell County). Robert sold this land in 1830. In Campbell County Deed Book D, Page 241 - Executed in Greene County, Georgia, July 9, 1830, Deed from Robert Astin of Greene County to Wiley N. White of Greene County, 202 1/2 Acres, lying in LL163, District 1 of Carroll, now Campbell County, Georgia, $93.00. For some unknown reason, Mr. White did not record this deed until January 8, 1846, long after Robert's death. Robert died in April 1840 at Greene Co, GA.

It was on this date that Rueben Smith bought 287 1/2 acres of land from Joseph Spradling adjoining Boldens line. Wit: David Love & J.P. Mapp. Rueben got a headright in Greene County for 100 acres in 1805. He later bought more land in Greene County in 1808..² Rueben died on 14 February 1836 at Greene Co, GA, at age 79.
