It was on this date that William Waterfield and Thomas Ward witnessed the will of Benjamin Walter, wife Elizabeth.1 He patented land in 1705 at tract N67, S.E. of Bridgetown, Northampton Co, VA. It was in this year that William Waterfield was granted a patent for tract N67 as escheated from Boutracie. In 1720 he left it to his son Jacob.2 William made a will on 12 April 1720 at Northampton Co, VA. To my son Jacob my 200 A. plantation whereon I now live and n. woman Bess. To my son John and his children priviledge to get timber from my land. To son John and his wife during their lives mulatto slave James, and then to my grandson Southy Waterfield. To my son William's three children, viz., Michael, William and Mary. To my dau.[sic] Elizabeth Waterfield the wife of my son William. To my son John Lucas' children. Remaining estate to be eq. div. by wife [no name] and children, viz., John Waterfield, Mary Dunton, Esther Lucas, Elener Andrews and Elizabeth Speakman. If my dau. Elizabeth Speakman dies before the division then her part to the other four, and then also 500#t to Thomas Speakman. My wife and son John extrs. Witt: Matthew Harmanson, Thomas Benthall, John Bennitt, Ann Benthall.2 He died before 17 May 1720 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that his will was probated.2

Daniel Selby

Daniel was born circa 1640 at Ireland.1 He patented land on 9 November 1666 at Mattapany, Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as Daniel Selby and was granted 600 acres of land for transporting 12 persons into the colony. This 600-acre tract was called The Change, although referred to as Metomkin in his will. In 1671, when a change in the Maryland-Virginia boundary placed the tract in Maryland, the Maryland authorities confirmed the grant, in which Selby is called "Gentleman of Virginia."1 He married Mary Parker, daughter of Phillip Parker and Mary (-----), circa 1674 at Accomack Co, VA.1 Daniel Selby patented land on 19 May 1675 at Bantry, Somerset Co, MD. The 1400-acre tract Bantry was on the seaboard side near Mattapany Creek, 3 miles from Assateague Sound.1 Daniel made a will on 12 December 1694 at Somerset Co, MD. To wife Mary, land. To eldest son Parker: plantation "Upper Plantation," "Brother's Love," "Carriganasick." To son Daniel: "Yorkshire," "Sandy Point," "Kilkenny." To son Phillip: "Cedar Grove," "Bantry," "Carriganasick," "Assucken." To son William: "Mattemkin" (Accomac County), "Dublin." To daughter Mary: "Brick Neck." Witt: John Purnell, John Roussalls, Cornelius Shahan, Thomas Smith, Director Purnell.2 He died before 16 March 1696 at Somerset Co, MD. It was on this date that his will was probated.2
