According to George Ker's Family Bible, George and Sarah were married 6 Jan 1796, he age 30 years on 10 Jun 1795 & she being age 19 on 5th Nov 1795..6,7 Sarah was named in a land cause on 4 March 1801 at St. George Parish, Acc Co, VA. It was brought out that George Ker had died and left a widow Sarah Ker and 3 children, Nancy, John & Margaret..8 Sarah died on 19 October 1822 at age 45.4,5 Her body was interred at Sylvan Retreat, Pungoteague, Acc Co, VA. Her tombstone shows her Sarah Ker the 2nd wife of George Ker and the daughter of George & Sarah Parker..4 Administration of Sarah's estate was filed on 28 October 1822 at Accomack Co, VA. George was born on 14 January 1822 at Selma, Northampton Co, VA. He was born a Nottingham, but his mother had his named changed after his father died to help perpetuate the Upshur name which was dying out in the Vaucluse branch of the family..2 He attended the College of William and Mary during 1837-1840 and the University of Pennsylvania where he received a medical degree in 1843. Dr. Upshur was a Resident Physician of the Naval Hospital, Portsmouth, VA, and attended the first cases of the yellow fever epidemic of 1855 when he finally succumbed to it.2 He married Sarah Andrew B. Parker, daughter of Dr. Jacob Godwin (118) Parker and Anne Gertrude Stratton, on 8 February 1844 at Northampton Co, VA. Alfred Parker was the security on the M.L.B. of Dr. George Littleton Upshur and Miss Sarah (Andrews) Parker. (He was the son of John E. & Elizabeth (Upshur) Nottingham) of Norfolk, VA and (she was the daughter of Dr. Jacob G. & Anne (Stratton) Paker). They were also married on 8 Feb 1844 by J. Ufford. A note shows that he had changed his name from George Upshur Nottingham to George Littleton Upshur..1 Dr. Upshur was a Resident Physician of the Naval Hospital, Portsmouth, VA, and attended the first cases of the yellow fever epidemic of 1855 when he finally succumbed to it. After his death his wife and children returned to the Easter Shore and made their home at "Elkington" near Eastville, the home of his mother's brother, Alfred Parker.2 George died on 19 September 1855 at Norfolk, VA, at age 33.2 His body was interred at Elmwood Cem, Norfolk, VA.2

Sarah was born on 31 December 1822.2 As of 8 February 1844,her married name was Upshur.1 She married Dr. George Littleton Upshur (Nottingham), son of John Evans Nottingham and Elizabeth Parker Upshur, on 8 February 1844 at Northampton Co, VA. Alfred Parker was the security on the M.L.B. of Dr. George Littleton Upshur and Miss Sarah (Andrews) Parker. (He was the son of John E. & Elizabeth (Upshur) Nottingham) of Norfolk, VA and (she was the daughter of Dr. Jacob G. & Anne (Stratton) Paker). They were also married on 8 Feb 1844 by J. Ufford. A note shows that he had changed his name from George Upshur Nottingham to George Littleton Upshur..1 Sarah died on 29 August 1910 at Richmond, VA, at age 87. Sarah Andrews Parker, daughter of Jacob Godwin Parker and Anne Gertrude Stratton his wife, and wife of George Lyttleton Upshur, departed this life 29 Aug 1910 at the age of 87 years, 7 months & 29 days at 500 W. Grace Street, Richmond, VA and was interred in Elmwood Cemetery on 30 Aug 1910..2 Sarah was buried at Elmwood Cem, Norfolk, VA.3

The two of them had purchased a storehouse and lot in Eastville adjoining the court house from Edward Stratton.4 He married Elizabeth Parker Upshur, daughter of Littleton Upshur I and Ann 'Nancy' (215) Parker, on 30 December 1820 at Northampton Co, VA. They were shown as John E. Nottingham and Elizabeth P. Upshur. Littleton Upshur was the security. They were married the same day as the bond by S. Wilmer..5 John Evans Nottingham died before 12 February 1827 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of John E. Nottingham was granted to Littleton Upshur. Elizabeth was born on 11 March 1801 at Vaucluse, N'hamp Co, VA.2 Elizabeth was named as an heir on 12 June 1815 at Northampton Co, VA. She was shown as Elizabeth P. Upshur and received 83 acres in the estate settlement of her father Littleton Upshur Sr.3 As of 30 December 1820,her married name was Nottingham.4 She married John Evans Nottingham, son of John Nottingham and Margaret 'Peggy' Nottingham, on 30 December 1820 at Northampton Co, VA. They were shown as John E. Nottingham and Elizabeth P. Upshur. Littleton Upshur was the security. They were married the same day as the bond by S. Wilmer..4 Following the death of her husband, Elizabeth had the surname of her two young sons changed in 1841 from Nottingham to Upshur by act of the Virginia Assembly. Her brothers persuaded her to do this in order to perpetuate the Upshur name which appeared to be dying out in the Vaucluse branch of the family.2 Elizabeth died on 15 September 1879 at Norfolk, VA, at age 78.5 Her body was interred at Elmwood Cem, Norfolk, VA.5

He left to wife the "right to remain in my mansion house and to cultivate my plantation" if she choose, and pay rent, and receive a third of the net profits of the whole estate during her life. To son William 2/3 of his plantation (which was Locust Grove) during wife's life, then William to have the whole, also 14 negroes. William was to receive a liberal education and a profession. The testator gave his executors authority to send son William to school or college south of the Potomac; if son refuses selection, wife to have above slaves & plantation; if she should be dead, then to 2 grandchildren. If all should be dead, then plantation & slaves should go to nephews George E. & John A. Ames. He would perfer son to study legal profession, but "if my executors think his talents better suited to medicine or some other liberal profession," then he should pursue that. The executor should have such authority until son completes his study for a career. Remainder was to go to 2 grandchildren, William Seymour Christian & George Christian, and mentioned "my 2 grown sons." Executors & guardians of son & grandsons were to be friends Wm. B. Seymour & Miers W. Fisher. Witt: Miers W. Fisher, Matilda J. Ames, Susan W. Johnson, Jas. M. Savage, and A.W. Downing. In a codicil or 21 Mar 1840, grandson George having died, his share to brother William S. It was in this year that Thomas and Sarah Ironmonger began selling off parts of his inheritance, conveying 5 acres each to Zorobabel Mason and Solomon West, 20 acres to Isaiah Bagwell, and 50 acres to John Bull Jr.1 Thomas was named as administrator of an estate on 27 September 1803 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Zadock Monger was granted to Betsy Monger with Thomas Monger & George White securities. (NOTE: The assumption is that Thomas was his brother.).2 He sold land in 1808 at tract A89, Greenbush, Acc Co, VA. It was in this year that Thomas & Sarah Ironmonger sold a home place of 100 acres to John Cropper and the next year the latter's wife Catharine joined him in a resale to Isaiah Bagwell; this also became merged with this Greenbush plantation.1

It was on this date that Oswald Bowman, Edward Ker & Americus Scarburgh were named to settle the estate of Catherine Bowman.
