William was born circa 1752 at Accomack Co, VA. William was named in his father's will on 14 September 1776 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as a son William in the will of John Wise Sr., wife Margaret. He was given the remaining part of my land adjacent to Kiely Bonewell & the house where my father lived. Whitelaw says this must have been the eastern part of the little neck and where the present house now stands..2 He married Sarah Evans, daughter of Isaiah Evans and Elizabeth 'Betty' Fooks, circa 1786.3 William was listed as a head of household in the census of in 1800 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as Capn William Wise a head of household, aged over 45. Listed with him were 3 males age 0-10, 1 male age 10-16, 1 male age 16-26, 1 female age 16-26, 1 female age over 45 & 3 slaves..4 William sold land in 1804 at Accomack Co, VA. According to Whitelaw, it was in this year that William Wise sold his part as 124 acres by survey to John Wise V, who also acquired his borther Solomons' part, althought a deed for such a sale was not found. This part is the location of Whitelaw's A75D, known as Oatlands. The smaller part of the house may go back farther, but the larger section probably was built by William Wise after his inheritance and his father's death in 1782. The interior has wainscoting, but no special features. The restoration was nicely done and it is now a very attractive property..5 He made a will on 6 February 1807 at Accomack Co, VA. To daughter Elizabeth Crippen Negro girl Rose. To son to whom my wife should at her death give her land, my still & nothing else. To wife Sarah Wise during her life Negroes Nan, Anthony, Hannah, Willey, Stephen, Jacob, Rachel & Abraham & their increase, with the balance of my property for her to maintain & school my children & at the death of my wife I give to my children or surviving heirs, the whole of my Negroes & other property, except my son who should have the land of my wife.
