Listed with him were a wife Sally H. and daughter Magie, born in Aug 1896, and his mother Annie, born Arp 1843 (?)..1 Romulus was listed as a head of household in the census of in 1910 at Pocomoke City, Worcester Co, MD. He was shown as Rome Littleton the head of HH#430, age 36, with a wife Sallie, age 37; his mother Annie, age 72; and daughters: Magrie, age 14; Blanche, age 8; and Virgie, age 5..1 Rome Littleton had a drayage business in Pocomoke City. With a horse drawn cart, he would meet the trains and boats from Baltimore, unload their cargo, and deliver the goods to retail merchants in town. He also delivered Texaco petroleum products (likely kerosene) to individual homes. A picture was taken of him, circa 1920, standing beside his Texaco wagon pulled by a white horse, when the family was living on 3rd Street. The graveyard behind the present Worcester County Public Library at Pocomoke can be seen in the background. Romulus died on 9 October 1924. Rome Littleton was 50 years of age when he died on 9 October 1924. He was buried in Goodwill Cemetery, only a short distance from his father and mother. His mother had died circa 1913 and been buried there in an unmarked grave, beside her husband, Edmund S. Littleton, who died in 1896. His tombstone calls him Edward S. Littleton. This was likely a mistake of the stone carver, who probably knew him as "Ed" Littleton..

He was shown as William T. Littleton aged 63 years, and wife Sally F., 63, were living next door to Edmund S. in household 237..1 William died in 1857 at Worcester Co, MD. William T. Littleton died testate in 1857, naming sons Thomas S. Littleton and Edmund S. Littleton, a daughter Nancy Littleton, and a grandson James Littleton Melson (Wor. Wills TT #8, p. 13). He was 'the son of a William Littleton, who died intestate in 1828. Although not named in his will, this William Littleton was apparently the grandson of Edmund Littleton, who died testate in Worcester County in 1754, naming two sons, Thomas and Edmund (Wor. Wills JW #2, p. 136). Neither Thomas nor Edmund left a probate record, but Thomas Littleton and William Littleton appeared together on a bond of 5 October 1802, indicating they were father and son (Wor. Deeds U, p. 624). The Edmund Littleton who died in 1754 first appeared in Maryland on Somerset County tax lists of 1740. There is little doubt he was the Edmund Littleton named as a son by John Littleton of Accomack County, Virginia, in his will of 1721 (Acco. Wills, Deeds & c 1715-1729, part 1, p. 365). John Littleton had bought 200 acres of Accomack County land, near Hunting Creek, in 1699 (Acco. Wills and Etc. 1692-1715, part 1, p. 391)..1

| Charts | Ancestors of William Taylor White (the Boy in the Iron Coffin) |
According to Whitelaw, it has been impossible to identify his man. It is definitely known that he is not a direct descendant of the original emigrant Nathaniel Littleton, though they may have been a descendant of a collateral branch in England. While the male line of Nathaniel ceased entirely in the early part of the next century, this man still has a number of male descendants living (1951). John was born in 1656 at England.2 At a court held in Accomack Co on 17 May 1669 Capt. John West brought 3 servants (Christopher Cleverly, John Littleton & Isaac Branduck) to court to have their ages judged and John Littleton was judged to be 13 years old, which puts his birth at 1656. They were to serve till attaining the age of 24 years, at which time they would receive corn and clothes.2 John was named as a headright on 16 December 1669 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that a certificate was granted to Capt. John West for 200 acres of land for transporting Isaac Brandon, Christopher Cleverly, John Littleton and Robert Taylor into the colony..3 John was named as a headright on 17 November 1671 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that John Liddleton was on a list of headrights for certificated granted to Capt. John West for 1,200 acres due for transportation of 25 persons into the colony..4 John was on the list of tithables at Accomack Co, VA, for in 1681. In 1681 he was shown as Jno. Littleton with 1 tithable. In 1687 & 1688 he was shown as Jno. Littleton with 1 tithable in Capt. Hill's precinct. In 1690 & 1691 he was shown as Jno. Littleton with 2 tithables in Mr. Jo. Robinson's precinct. In 1692 he was shown as John Littleton with 1 tithable in Mr. Jo. Robinson's prrecinct and as Jno. Littleton with 1 tithable in Mr. Edm'd Custis' precinct. In 1695 he was shown as Jno. Littleton with 1 tithable in Mr. Ed Custis' precinct. (NOTE: The 2 tithables in 1690 & 1691 implies he either has a son who turned 16 in 1690 or he had a slave. Since the 2 tithables did not continue, he probably had a slave.).5 He married Margaret Riley, daughter of Thomas Riley (O'Rily) and Sarah Webb, circa 1684 at Accomack Co, VA.6,7 On 3 Jan 1683/4 the suit of Christopher Thompson against John Littleton was dismissed. On 13 Jan 1684/5 Capt. Henry Custis presented a list of soldiers delinquent in appearing for the muster he appointed for 1 Jan 1684/5 and the sheriff was to summon them to the next court. John Littleton was one of the 19 men on the list. On 12 May 1686 Capt. Henry Custis presented a list of delinquent soldiers and John Littleton was again on the list. On 6 Jul 1686 John Littleton was on the list of delinquent soldiers of Capt. Henry Custis, but the court thought it fit to acquit them of their fines this time. In the future all persons neglecting their duties would be fined according to the penalty of the law. On 18 Dec 1688 Henry Selman, John Smally, Robert Tayler, Woodman Stockley, George West, John Littleton and Thomas Stockley were delinquent in appearing as they had been sworn "of the grand inquest for the year 1688 and they were to be fined 200 lbs tobacco. On 20 Feb 1688/89 John Littleton, aged about 27, petitioned that he was prevented by sickness from attending the December court as a grand juryman. Since he made it appear that he was really sick, the court ordered that he be discharged from his fine. However, he had to pay court charges. On 18 Jun 1689 grand juryman John Littleton presented Capt. Hill's woman servant for fornication.8 On 16 Jun 1691 John Littleton, who bought an orphan named John Foster before the court, stated that he was willing to talke the orphan into his care till Foster reached 20 years of age. The court agreed and ordered that Foster perform according to law. On 21 Feb 1693/4 Lt. Col. John West sued Peter Pritchard for 688 lbs tobacco, but Pritchard failed to appear. The sheriff returned John Littleton as bail for Pritchard's appearance at the next court. Jno. Littleton was on a jury on 20 Nov 1691, again on 19 Sep 1693 and again on 20 Mar 1693/4.9 John bought land in 1699 at Accomack Co, VA. It was in this year that John Littleton brought 200 acres near Hunting Creek. This was the 200 acres that Charles Scarburgh sold to Thomas ORily in 1690. It was on the south side of Timber Creek and between the two Bayside roads. Thomas Riley, wife Sarah, left it to his son Lawrence in his will of 1696 and 3 years later Lawrence & his wife Tabitha sold it to John Littleton. This is the land John Littleton left to his son William in his will. In 1797 John Littleton's grandson Mark Littleton (wife Raner) left a part of another tranct to his son George, and the balance to his sons Southy and James. It was the appearance of the name Southy in this family which has lead many to think that the line came down from the Nathaniel Littleton family through his son Southy, but as shown in the history of several tracts both in N'hamp and Accomack, that male line ceased to exist soon after 1700..1,10 John bought land on 3 January 1700 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that Lawrence Ryley and his wife Tabitha acknowledged a deed for land they sold to John Littleton. In the deed book they were shown as Lawrence Riley and wife Tabitha of Somerset Co, MD and he was shown as John Littleton of Hunting Creek, Accomack Co, VA. It was described as 200 acres on the south of Back Branch at Timber Creek, bounded on the east by the Bayside Road, adjoining the land of Peter Claywell, on the south & southwest by Thomas Riley & John Lewis & on the west by John Arue (Rew) dec'd..11,12 On 1 Apr 1701 Jno. Littleton was on a jury.13 On 5 Oct 1703 John Littleton was on a jury. On 7 Aug 1706 John Littleton petitioned to be paid for serving as a witness for William Bunting in his suit against John Evans. Since Littleton served two days, it was ordered that Bunting pay him 80 lbs tobacco and court costs. On 6 May 1707 Jno. Littleton was again on a jury. On 5 Apr 1709 Lawrence Reyly presented and acknowledged a bond he made to John Littleton.14 John sold land on 5 October 1703 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that John Littleton presented and acknowledged a deed for land he sold to William Darter. John's wife Margaret Littleton acknowledged her relinquishment of dower. The deed was dated 18 Aug 1703 when John Littleton, planter, and his wife Margaret of Acc Co sold to William Carter of Acc Co 1 acre at Back Branch, alias Timber Creek, being a part of my plantation where I now live, bought of Lawrence Riley of Somerset Co, MD. The 1 acre is bounded on the north by Back Branch, on the east by the County Road & adjoining Peter Claywell and on the west & southwest by Littleton's plantation. The 1704 quit rent rolls showed him still owning 200 acres in Accomack County..7,15 He made a will on 15 September 1718 at Back Creek, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as John Littleton of Back Creek, Acc Co, being sick & weak of body but of good & sound memory giving prase to God for the same & all his blessings bestowed on me and considering my self and uncertainty of man's life do therefore make & appoint this to be my last will & testament, revoaking all other wills by me formerly made & first & princibly I bequeath my sould to God the Great Creator hoping & stedfastly believing through the merits & imtersession of Jesus Christ to receive a full & free pardon of all my sins & a place among the elect in endless happiness & for what worldly estate the Load in mercy has bestowed on me, I do order & bequeath in manner following. I give to my son William Littleton my plantation I now live on with all the appurtances belonging being by estimation 200 acres to him & his heirs forever. I give to my daughter Tabitha Warde on good feather bed with boulster, 2 new blankets & a quilt & a large iron pot of about 9 gallons & in case my daughter Tabitha shall fail of coming or sending for the above legacies for 3 years, then I give the bed boulster, blanketts, quilts & pot to my son Thomas Littleton & his heirs forever. I give to my son John Littleton 1 cow & calf to him & his hiers forever. I give to my daughter Comfort Crowson 1 cow & calf to her & her heirs forever & I also give my daughter Comfort 2 ewes to her & her hiers forever. I give to my daughter Ann Mary Littleton 600 lbs tobacco & 2 ewes to her & her heirs forever. I give to my son Charles Littleton my horse Smoaker to him & his heirs forever. I give all the rest of my estate to my 4 sons Charles, Mark, Edmund & Thomas Littleton to be equally divided among them & to their heirs forever. I also give my son Thomas 2 years schooling & my son William to pay for the same. I do also give to my 4 sons Charles, Mark, Edmund & Thomas 500 lbs tobacco to each of them to be paid by my son Willaim and they shall all come of age at 18 years old. I do order & appoint my son William Littleton to be whole & sole executor & to see this my last will & testament fully performed in all points according to the true intent & meaning thereof all which I do confirm with my hand & seal this 15 Sep 1718. Signed John Littleton. Witt: Ri Drumond, Edmund Tatham & Rich Drumond Jnr..16,17 John died before 1 August 1721 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that his will was probated. According to Whitelaw, it has been impossible to identify his man. It is definitely known that he is not a direct descendant of the original emigrant Nathaniel Littleton, though they may have been a descendant of a collateral branch in England. Mark was born circa 1704 at Accomack Co, VA. Mark was named in his father's will on 15 September 1718 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as a son Mark Littleton (under 18) in the will of John Littleton of Back Creek..1 Mark witnessed a will on 6 January 1726 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that John Tankred, John Oakley & Mark Littleton witnessed the will of Thomas Simson, who named 9 children in his will..2 On 2 Aug 1726 Mark Littleton brought action for damages of £20 against Thomas Rew for assault. Littleton's attorney appeared as did Rew, who was granted time till the next court. (NOTE: This was evidently the Thomas Rew who was named a fathering a bastard child of Mark's sister Mary.).3 On 6 Oct 1727 the action brought by John Simpson against Mark Littleon was delayed at the request of Littleton. On 9 Nov 1727 it was noted that Mark Littleton would have judgment granted against him if he did not appear at the next court to answer the action of John Simpson. On 6 Mar 1727/28 the action of John Simpson against Mark Littleton was referred to the next court for trial. On 8 May 1728 the case of John Simpson against Mark Littleton was brought to trial and the jury found for Littleton, who was to receive court costs and attorney's fee.4 At a 6 Jun 1728 court it was recorded that last November Lucretia Lewis was presented for bastardy by the grand jury; she now produced a certificate signed by Rev. Mr. Thomas Thompson, rector in Dorchester Co, MD, showing that she was legally married to William Sherewood of this county. Mark Littleton, who received the certificate from Mr. Thompson, swore to the truth of the same. Ordered that Lucretia Lewis be discharge; she paid court costs.5 On 2 Apr 1729 it was ordered that Mark Littleton be taken into the sheriff's custody till posting a bond for his good behavior. He had distrubed the sheriff while he was excuting his office. On 4 June 1729 he was discharged from his bond for good behavior.6 He married Sarah Tatham, daughter of Edmund Tatham and Comfort Ewell, circa 1730.7 Mark Littleton openly detested William Andrews, a justice of the peace. In fact, their interactions degenerated into what could only be called a feud. Previously in court as the victim of assault and for interfering with the sheriff while he was executing his office, Mark again come to the attention of the court in Jan 1730/31. He was acused of assaulting, beating & wounding Mary Andrews the wife of William Andrews Gent. Though Mark denied it, the next month he was found guilty and fined £10 for the assult. Mark, along with three others, immediately retaliated by hurling serious accusations at Andrews. Summoned before his fellow justices that March, Andrews faced charges of signing a false certificate and casting some very scandalous aspersions on this court. Another man swore about the certificate and then Mark Littleton, the man recently convicted of assaulting Andrews' wife, swore to a very candid conversation that he claimed he and with Andews. Littleton and Andrews confiding that he would not have missed being a Jusitce of the Peace for Fifty pound for that he could never get a Cause in the Court before he was a Justice. When Mark asked why, Andrews said that the court were obliged to give judgment for him because they would expect hiim to do the same for them, upon which the said Mark told him he thought the court were upon their oaths to do justice in all affairs and the said Andrews answered him and said you don't know their tricks so well as I do. Shocked and probably wondering where these accusations might lead, the other justices agreed that the matter against Andrews had been duly proved. They unanimously concluded that the proceedings should be laid before the Lt. Governor so William Andrewes Gent. may be dealt with according to his deserts. Maybe the Lt. Governor consider the source, or maybe he know more tricks than the county justices did. At any rate, silence descended upon the matter; Andrews, who continued to sit as a justice of the peace, received no further censure. He did however continue the feud with Littleton. That April he and his wife Mary again brought an action of assualt against Littleton. The next day, Littleton returned the favor by bringin actions of assault and debt against Andrews. In August both suits were referred to the next court for trial. On 8 Sep 1731 Littleton was convictec of assulting and wounding mary Andrews, who was awarded 50 shillings in damages. The next day Littleton was granted a judgment for the debt Andrews owed him and Andrews was convicted of assulting Littleton, who was also awarded 50 shillings in damages.8 Mark bought land on 6 June 1732 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that Mark Littleton, son of John, bought 100 acres of Whitelaws' tract A124 (about 1/2 mile southeast of Gargartha) from Samuel and Elizabeth Davis. This was the balance of the James Davis land north of the Taylor strip, and included the rest of the little triangle. The deed, dated 27 May 1732, shows it was bounded by the lands of Capt. Griffith Savage, Robert Taylor and William Baker and a divisional line of marked trees, which were marked in the presence of Southy Rew and Samuel Davis and Mark Littleton. A record of the death of Mark was not noted, but he was succeded by a son of the same name, who in 1759 deeded it back to Samuel Davis, but somehow some of the land remainded Littleton ownership, in spite of the deed. In 1797 Mark Littleton (wife Raner) left a little plot of 4 acres at the apex of the triangle to his son George, and the balance to his sons Southy and James. It was the appearance of the name Southy in this family which has lead many to think that the line came down from the Nathaniel Littleton family through his son Southy, but as shown in the history of several tracts both in N'hamp and Accomack, that male line ceased to exist soon after 1700..9,10,11 He served on a jury on 5 September 1732 at Accomack Co, VA.12 On 8 Nov 1732 Mark Littleton attended four days as evidence against William Tilney (plaintiff) for Mason Abbott, who was ordered to pay him according to law.13 He served on a jury on 3 July 1733 at Accomack Co, VA.14 On 5 Dec 1733 it was ordered that Southy Littleton (orphan) be bound to Mark Littleton to learn the trade of carpenter.15 Mark died in 1735 at Accomack Co, VA. On 28 Jul 1735 boundary lines were processioned in the precincts between Back Creek and the North Branch of Guilford up to the said branch including Elias Bells and bounded upon Wallops Road to Joseph Taylors Longuelove Branch. Among them were the line between Samuel Davice and Mark Littleton; the line between Mark Littleton and Robert Taylor; the line between Elias Bell and William Baker; the line between William Baker and Mark Littleton; the line between William Baker and Henry Right; the line between Henry Right and Robert Taylor; and the line Robert Taylor and Southy Rew. (NOTE: When these lines were processioned in 16 Jul 1739, Mark Littleton was replaced by Sarah Littleton, who was evidently his widow.).16

The assumption is that this Mary Littleton's two bastard children (who were not named when she had the bastard children) were Southy Littleton and Comfort Littleton. Then Mary Littleton married Joseph Walker and they had sons Southy, Littleton and Joseph Walker. It is further assumed that Stephen Walker was a son of Joseph Walker, by his first wife before he married Mary Littlteton, making him a step-brother to Comfort Littleton and that he was the natural father of Comfort's children. Another possibility is that Comfort was a daughter of Joseph Walker, by his first wife before he married Mary Littleton and that Stephen Walker was her brother and she married an unknown son of Mark Littleton. Ann was born circa 1700 at Accomack Co, VA. On 6 Nov 1716 the grand jury presented Mary Lettleton for fornication and on 6 Mar 1716/17 the sheriff reported that he had summoned her and others, that they failed to appear at this court. Ordered that the sheriff take them into custody and keep them till they entered a bond for their appearance at the next court.2 Ann was named in her father's will on 15 September 1718 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as a daughter Ann Mary Littleton in the will of John Littleton of Back Creek..1 On 4 Apr 1722 it was recorded that at the November court Mary Lettleton was presented for fornication and having a bastard child; summoned to his court, Mary now failed to appear. Ordered that the sheriff take Mary into custody till she posted a bond for her appearance at the next court. On 8 Jan 1723/24 it was recorded that at the December court the sheriff was ordered to take Tho. Rew into custody for his appearance at this court to answer for fathering the child of Mary Lettleton, a single woman. After questioning him, the court ordered the sheriff to immediately take Rew into custody till he posted a bond to save the parish the cost of supporting the child and for his good behavior. He was also to pay court costs.3 She married Joseph Walker Sr., son of John Walker and Margaret (-----), circa 1724 at Accomack Co, VA. The assumption is that Joseph Walker married Ann Mary Littleton is based on him naming a son Littleton Walker..4 On 5 Dec 1733 it was ordered that Southy Littleton (orphan) be bound to Mark Littleton to learn the trade of carpenter. Evidently his father had died as it appears that his mother had married Joseph Walker and was still living at this time.5 Ann was named in her husband's will on 22 April 1747 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as a wife Mary in the will of Joseph Walker..4 Ann died after 1747. John was born circa 1694 at Accomack Co, VA. On 2 Jun 1713 Ann Thorns, who was presented by the grand jury at the last court for bastard-bearing, swore that John Lettleton Jr. was the father of her child. Ordered that Lettleton be taken into custody till he posted a bond to save the parish from supporting the child and for his good behavior.2 John was named in his father's will on 15 September 1718 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as a son John Littleton in the will of John Littleton of Back Creek..1 He married Sarah (-----) circa 1720 at Accomack Co, VA.3 John bought land on 2 May 1721 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that Rich'd Jones presented and acknowledged a deed for land he sold to John Lettleton. According to Whitelaw John Littleton bought 50 acres of Whitelaws' tract A113 (South East of Guilford where the village of Hopeton is towards the eastern end of the tract) from Richard Jones, it being the lower strip along the line of A109. It was the land Jones had bought in 1714 from John West's widow Matilda. In 1722 John and Sarah Littleton sold it to Richard Barnecastle, and in 1746 his son John & wife Agathy sold it to William Litchfield and 3 years later William & his wife Tabitha sold it to Thomas Riley..4,5 John bought land on 9 June 1724 at Dorchester Co, MD. It was on this date that John & William Littleton of Dorchester Co bought 150 acres called Dorchester at the head of the northeast branch of Chicnacomoco from John & Margaret Young also of Dorchester Co..6 John bought land on 13 March 1732 at Dorchester Co, MD. It was on this date that John and William Littleton of Dorchester Co bought 100 acres on the main road from Jamaica Ferry to Vienna Town from Henry Ennalls also of Dorchester Co..6 On 28 Mar 1733 John Littleton received repayment of a debt due from the estate of John Chilnot and on 12 Feb 1735 from the estate of Francis Jolly. On 11 Jun 1735 he was security on the administation of the estate of Obadiah King. On 10 Nov 1737 he patented a 50-acre tract named "Sarah's Delight" where the original patent was granted to Henry Conyers in 1715.7 John sold land on 13 August 1734 at Dorchester Co, MD. It was on this date that John Littleton of Dorchester County and his wife Sarah sold 75 acres, being the northwest end of a 376-acre tract called "Brotherly Kindness" to John Harper also fo Dorchester Co..7 John patented land on 10 November 1737 at Dorchester Co, MD. It was on this date that William Littleton received a patent for a 50-acre tract named "Littleton's Beginning." On the same day his brothers John received a patent for a 50-acre portion of "Sarah's Delight" and Edmund patented the 100-acre "Littleton's Last Shift.".6 John sold land on 27 July 1743 at Dorchester Co, MD. It was on this date that John Littleton and his wife Sarah of Fairfax Co, VA sold "Sarah's Delight" to Abraham Jones of Dorchester Co, MD which was on the south side of the north branch of Chicknacomico River, containing 50 acres. Also one moyety of "Dorchester" containing 150 acres bought from John Young adjoining "Sarah's Delight." Also 50 acres of "Norwick" adjoining thereto bought from Henry Ennalls on 13 Mar 1732..7 John bought land on 16 January 1745 at Fairfax Co, VA. It was on this date that John Littleton of Fairfax Co, VA bought 300 acres of a larger tract of 795 acres from Zephaniah Wade of Truro Parish, Fairfax Co, VA..7 He made a will on 1 October 1745 at Fairfax Co, VA. He was shown as John Littleton of the Parish of Truro and County of Fairfax, planter. To wife Sarah the plantation where she now lives with half the tract of land, being 125 acres and after her decease to my son Solomon. To my son Charles the remaining part of my land and if he died without heirs, to my cousin (meaning nephew) William Littleton. To my cousin (meaning nephew) William one musket. Signed John (+) Littleton. Witt: Henry (H) Tren, William (W) Littleton & Zepha Wade..8 John died before 15 April 1746 at Fairfax Co, VA. It was on this date that his will was probated. An inventory was recorded on 24 Jul 1746 and an amendment was filed on 10 May 1748. Between the time he wrote his will and it was probated, one of the witnesses Zephania Wade died. in Wade's lengthy statement of accounts on 17 May 1748 show transactions with Sarah & Charles Littleton as well as such notables and Fairbax Co neighbors as George Washington's older brother Maj. Lawrence Washington (Fairfax Co Will Book A1, pt. 1, pp. 235-236). In 1748 George Washington would have been age 16 and had been Lawrence's ward for 5 years. It is entirely likely that John Littleton's son Charles, by then about age 21, would have known George Washington, as descendants have claimed..8

Tabitha was born circa 1684 at Accomack Co, VA. She married Michael Ward Sr. circa 1700 at Accomack Co, VA. The assumption that Tabitha Littleton married this Michael Ward is based on the fact that this Michael Ward was in Accomack Co early, as a headright for Ann Toft, and that he was named in Accomack Co records up until 1720 and Tabitha was named as a daughter Tabitha Ward in her father's will of 1718. Another early Ward in Accomack Co that would have been the right age to have been her husband, Thomas Ward, was traced and found to have been married to Arcadia Toft as her second husband at the time Tabitha was named in her father's will. The other assumption is that this Michael Ward and wife Tabitha Littleton had a son Michael Ward who lived in N'hamp Co and was the right age to be their son and he named a son Litlteton Ward..1 Tabitha was named in her father's will on 15 September 1718 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as a daughter Tabitha Warde in the will of John Littleton of Back Creek. He gave her a feather bed & other household items, but if she failed to come for them or send for them within 3 years, then to my son Thomas. (NOTE: Evidently she did not live nearby.).1

It was on this date that William Littleton received a patent for a 50-acre tract named "Littleton's Beginning." On the same day his brothers John received a patent for a 50-acre portion of "Sarah's Delight" and Edmund patented the 100-acre "Littleton's Last Shift.".10 William was named as administrator of an estate on 29 December 1747 at Dorchester Co, MD. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Comfort Whealton was granted to William Littleton. It was on this date that William Littleton patented a 177-acre tract named "Littleton's Folly.".10 He made a will on 21 May 1763 at Dorchester Co, MD. To son Marke Littleton 100 acres where he now lives, but for want of heirs then to my son John Littleton. If son Marke Littleton should die before his wife Elizabeth, she shall enjoy the 100 acres during her widowhood. To son Southy Littleton 100 acres where he now lives. To son William my dwelling plantation to include with the plantation 125 acres. To son John Littleton 135 acres where he now lives which I bought of John McCallister.
