     Edward Wright, who was named as a servant by Amy Fowkes in her will of 1678. Edward Right's name first appeared as a headright for Devereau Brown in 1670 (Cert. and Rights, p. 42). He had apparently married by 1676, when his name appeared on the tax list (Tithables, p. 18). He, or another Edward Right, was given as a headright by William Anderson in 1680 (Cret. and Rights, p. 54). His name was on the tax lists two other times, in 1688 and in 1692 (Tithables, p. 43 and p. 54). On 1 June 1703, Edward Write was discharged from paying taxes "this present year" (Orders 1703-1709, p. 1). This record says he was "by the hand of God visited with a grevious Sickness for Eleven months past and was wholly uncapable to maintain himself and family by his Labor". If he were Mary Wright's husband, he was deceased by 5 October 1708, when she was presented by the Grand Jury for having had a bastard child (Orders 1703 - l709, p. 123). Edward was born circa 1645. He married Mary Wright, daughter of Henry Wright I and Ann Fooks, circa 1695. No record of a marriage for Mary Wright has been found. That she had at least two sons, both Wrights, is proved by the land records. She could have married an Edward Wright, who was named as a servant by Amy Fowkes in her will of 1678.. Edward died circa 1703. Edward Wright likely died soon after the records show he was ill in June 1703..

     A William Wright was named as a headright for Richard Bundick when the latter patented 1400 acres in Parkers Neck in 1664 (Nugent I. p. 524). This William Wright had apparently married by 1676, when his name first appeared on the Accomack County tax lists (Tithables, p.17). He registered his cattle mark on 28 February 1689 as: "a swallow forked on ye right eare and cropt on ye left (Wills & Deeds 1676 - 1690, p. 519). William was born circa 1650. William witnessed a will on 4 April 1693 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that Samuel Taylor, Nathaniel Tunnell, Will: Wright, James Glenn & Thomas Conway witnessed the will of John Wallop, alisa Wadlow..¹ He married Mary Wright, daughter of Henry Wright I and Ann Fooks, circa 1706. Mary Wright could also have married a William Wright" who was named as a headright for Richard Bundick" when the latter patented 1400 acres in Parkers Neck in 1664 (Nugent I, p. 524)..

     Henry Wright, the eldest son of Mary Wright and an unknown father, was born circa 1700. He was of age by 1726, when he deeded his brother William part of their mother's land, but apparently unmarried, as the deed was not co-signed by a wife. Henry Wright was living in Essex County, Virginia, on 8 June 1728, when he gave Henry Scarburgh his Power of Attorney, to act for him in Accomack County (Deeds, Wills & Etc 1715 - 1729, part 2, p. 249). Comfort Scarburgh and Ann Scarburgh were witnesses to this document. It is possible this Henry Wright married first in Essex County and lived there. However, Winfred Scarburgh died testate in Accomack County by 30 November 1756, naming Nanny Wright and a grandson as Henry Wright in her will (Wills 1752 - 1757, p. 358). Her will indicates Henry Wright had married Nanny (Ann?) Scarburgh and had a son Henry by 1756. No record has been found of the death of this Henry Wright in Accomack County or elsewhere in Virginia. That he had one son, who inherited his mother Mary Wright's land is apparent, and a second son from later deed and survey records.
Henry was born circa 1700 at Accomack Co, VA. He married Ann 'Nanny' (34) Scarburgh, daughter of Col. Henry (9) Scarburgh I and Winifred Powell, in 1735.² On 26 Jun 1751 Henry Wright and William Miles were the securities on the administration of Robert Taylor's estate to John Taylor.³

     Henry Wright deeded one-half his land, "which is 200 acres" to his brother "William Wright, on 30 December 1726, for, Brotherly Love and affection" (Deeds, Wills & Etc 1715 - 1729, part 2, p. 123 and Whitelaw, p. 1125). William Rite had died intestate by 6 March 1733, when his estate was to be administered by his widow, Mary Rite (Orders 1731 - 1736, p. 70). On 27 November 1745, Mary Wright, widow, sold 50 acres to Edward Hickman and his wife Elizabeth for 5 pounds (Deeds 1737 - 1746, p. 490). Apparently William Wright and his wife Mary had no children, or she could not have sold his land. Elizabeth Hickman was likely their daughter, however. William was born circa 1703 at Accomack Co, VA. He married Mary (-----) circa 1730.² Administration of William's estate was filed on 6 March 1733 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that Mary Rite was named to settle the estate of her dec'd husband William Rite.^2,3 William died circa 1733.²

     While no record has been found showing Mary Wright had a third son, Mackwilliams Wright bought 112½ acres from William Baker and wife Elizabeth and John Shepherd and wife Esther on 1 June 1731, for 4000 pounds of tobacco (Deeds and Wills 1729 - 1737, part 1, p. 150), land located west of Mary Wright's land (Whitelaw, p. 1118). Mackwilliams Wright bought an additional 100 acres on .14 July 1756 from John Dix, Junr and wife Leah for 29 pounds (Deeds 1746 - 1757, p. 689 and Whitelaw, p. 1089). Mackwilliams Wright wrote his will on 15 October 1766 (Wsills 1784 - 1786, p. 215). His son, William Wright, had died intestate by 30 July 1759, when Mc William Wright returned his inventory (Wills 1757 - 1761, p. 151). Mack Williams Wright's will was probated on 28 February 1786, almost twenty years after it was written. He named his wife as Elizabeth and made her and son Elijah executors. Other sons were: Abel Wright, Jacob Wright, George Wright and Henry Wright. He named his daughters as: Elizabeth Wright, Rachel Wright, Sinah Wright and Leah Wright. Son George Wright married Sally Dix in 1789 (MLB 1774 - 1806, p. 34) and became Accomack County Constable in 1804 (Orders 1804 - 1805). One of George Wright's children was James Wright (Land Causes 1727 - 1826, p. 94). James Wright married (1) Ann Bundick in 1816, (2) Mary Ann Finney in 1827 (MLB 1806 - 1832, p. 148), and died testate in 1831 (Wills 1828 - 1846, p. 93), naming his children as: Sarah Ann Wright, William Abbott Wright, Betsy Wright, James Wright and George L. (F.?) Wright. Mack was born circa 1708 at Accomack Co, VA. He married Mary Dix, daughter of (f|o Wm & Mary) Dix, circa 1730. Mackwilliams Wright had married Mary Dix, sister to William Dix, by 4 February 1733, when William Dix wrote his will naming their son, William Wright, as a heir (Deeds & Wills 1729 - 1737, p. 272).. He married Elizabeth (-----) circa 1755.² He made a will on 15 October 1766 at Accomack Co, VA. To wife Elizabeth the use of my plantation where I live and all my personal estate during her widowhood and then the plantation where I live to my son Elijah Wright & for want of heirs to my son Abel Wright. To son Jacob Wright plantation where he lives & 60 acres of land during his natural life, reversion to my son George Wright & for want of heirs of my son Abel Wright. To son George the remaining part of my land, being 40 acres. Daughter Elizabeth Wright, son Abel Wright, son Henry Wright, daughter Rachel Wright, daughter Sinah Wright & daughter Leah Wright residual legatees. Wife Elizabeth & son Elijah Executors.      Mary was born circa 1705 at Accomack Co, VA. She married Mack Williams Wright, son of Mary Wright, circa 1730. Mackwilliams Wright had married Mary Dix, sister to William Dix, by 4 February 1733, when William Dix wrote his will naming their son, William Wright, as a heir (Deeds & Wills 1729 - 1737, p. 272).. Mary was named in her father's will on 4 February 1733 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as my sister Mary Rite in the will of William Dix..¹

     Elizabeth was born circa 1730. She married Mack Williams Wright, son of Mary Wright, circa 1755.¹ Elizabeth was named in her husband's will on 15 October 1766 at Accomack Co, VA. She was named as wife Elizabeth in the will of Mack Williams Wright..¹

     William was born circa 1732 at Accomack Co, VA. William was named in his uncle's will on 4 February 1733 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as my godson William Rite, son of Mackwilliams Rite in the will of William Dix, who also named a sister Mary Rite..^2,3 William died before 30 July 1759 at Accomack Co, VA.      Jacob was born circa 1747 at Accomack Co, VA. He married Rachel Pettitt on 19 June 1788 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as only as Jacob Wright and she as Rachel Pettitt. No other information was given..² Jacob died circa 1798. His widow was listed in the 1800 census and Rachel Wright (Jacb)..

     Henry was born circa 1742 at Accomack Co, VA. He married Susannah (-----) circa 1765.² He made a will on 18 April 1785 at Accomack Co, VA. To son George Wright.      Henrietta was born circa 1798 at Accomack Co, VA. She married John Custis Copes, son of Hancock Copes and Elizabeth (182) Custis, on 3 June 1820 at Accomack Co, VA. Levi Dix and James Watson were the securities on the M.L.B. of John C. Copes, widower, and Henrietta Wright of Geo..² Henrietta was named in her brother's will on 16 May 1831 at Accomack Co, VA.      John was born circa 1792 at Accomack Co, VA. John was named in his father-in-law's will on 28 June 1800 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as a son-in-law (meaning step-son) John Custis Copes.² John was named in his mother's will on 1 April 1812 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as son John C.      James was born on 12 September 1824 at Metompkin District, Acc Co, VA.^2,1 He married Margaret Ann Hope, daughter of George Hope and Priscilla Fitchett, on 9 March 1846 at Accomack Co, VA. James B. Wright and Margaret A. Hope were issued a marriage license in Worc Co, MD on 3 Mar 1846. He was shown only as James B. Wright and she as Margaret A. Hope when they were married in Acc Co on 9 Mar 1846..^3,4 James was listed as a head of household in the census of in 1850 at Worcester Co, MD. He was shown as James B. Wright, age 28, born in VA in the 1st District, HH#1357 headed by Mathias Lindsey. Listed with him was Margaret Wright, age 20 and George Wright, age 2..⁵ James was listed as a head of household in the census of in 1860 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as Jas. Wright the head of HH#676, a 39 year old tailor (maybe sailor) with real estate valued at $100. Listed with him were the following Wrights: Margaret, age 30; George, age 12; James, age 6; and Bettie, age 2..⁶ James was listed as a head of household in the census of in 1870 at Metompkin District, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as James Wright the head of HH#MT208, a 49 year old farmer with real estate valued at $100 and personal property valued at $150. Listed with him were the following Wrights: Margaret, age 41 and keeping house; George, a 21 year old farm laborer; James, a 17 year old farm laborer; Cora, age 12; Douglas, age 8; John, age 6; and Arthur, age 2..⁷ James died on 23 March 1891 at Metompkin District, Acc Co, VA, at age 66. His Acc Co Death record shows him as Jas. B. Wright, who died 23 Mar 1891 (as does his tombstone). He died of unknown causes at the age of 70 years. His was born in Metompkin District and was a farmer. His neighbor H. Gunter gave the information and reported that James was a son of Isaac. (NOTE: Perhaps is father was Henry Isaac or Isaac Herny Wright, son of Isaac Wright.).^2,1 His body was interred at Wright Cem, Mappsville, Acc Co, VA.²

     George was born circa 1830 at Accomack Co, VA.² George was named in his father's will on 16 May 1831 at Accomack Co, VA. He was named as a son George F. Wright in the will of James Wright..¹ George was listed with another family in the census of in 1850 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as George F. Wright, a 20 year old clerk in HH#202 headed by Wm. Laws, a 54 year old baptist clergyman..² He married Elizabeth W. Laws, daughter of Zorobabel Core Laws and Ann Riley, on 9 December 1851 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown only as George T. Wright and she as Elizabeth Laws of Zorobabel..³ George was listed as a head of household in the census of in 1860 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as Geo. F. Wright the head of HH#1153, a 30 year old merchant with personal property valued at $6,000. Listed with him were the following Wrights: Elizt. M., age 26; Edwin S., age 5; Chas. C., age 3; and Mary A., age 1. Also listed was Betsey Mathews, age 19..⁴

     Mary was born circa 1700 at Accomack Co, VA. She married William Wright, son of Mary Wright, circa 1730.¹ Mary was named as administrator of an estate on 6 March 1733 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that Mary Rice (Rite) was named to settle the estate of William Rice (Rite)..²

     Elizabeth was born circa 1725 at Accomack Co, VA. She married Edward Hickman circa 1744 at Accomack Co, VA.¹

     Edward was born circa 1720 at Accomack Co, VA. He married Elizabeth (-----), daughter of Mary (-----), circa 1744 at Accomack Co, VA.¹

     Henry Wright, inherited circa 150 acres of Mary Wright's land from his father. He apparently married later in life. That he was married by 29 November 1769 is shown by a suit Henry Wright and wife Rachel brought against "John Taylor (Church)" on that date for a debt (Acc Co Orders 1769 - 1770, p. 276). The will of John Pettit, written 20 December 1784, probated on 27 April 1785, named a daughter as Rachel Wright and made "son-in-law Henry Wright" one of his executors (Acc Co Wills 1784 - 1787, p. 126). Henry Wright bought no land. On 24 February 1784, he deeded 6 acres of Mary Wright's land, bordered on the north by Edward Hickman's land, to William Wright and his wife Comfort "for their natural lives" (Deeds 1783 - 1788, p. 60). Henry Wright had died intestate by 27 February 1794, when his estate was. administered to his son Henry Wright (Orders 1793 - 1796, p. 157). A survey of his land had been made on 8 December 1793, for a division among his seven children (Surveyors Record #1, p. 251). The tract totaled 140 acres, excluding 5 acres(6 acres?) that would revert back on the death of his brother, William Wright, Senr. A widow's dower was here given as 42 acres. Henry was born circa 1735 at Accomack Co, VA. Henry was named in his grandmother's will on 8 September 1756 at Accomack Co, VA. He was named as a grandson Henry Wright in the will of Winifred Scarburgh, who also named Nanny Wright in her will..¹ He married Rachel Pettitt, daughter of John Pettitt and Mary Scott, circa 1768.³ Henry died in January 1794.⁴ Administration of Henry's estate was filed on 27 February 1794 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that Henry Wright was named to settle the estate of Henry Wright. Thomas Hickman, Constable & William Evans were the securities.⁴

     In 1726 Henry Wright deeded his brother William Wright part of their mother's land. On 24 Feb 1784 his brother Henry Wright deeded him and his wife Comfort for their natural lives 6 acres of Mary Wright's land, bordered on the north by Edward Hickman's land (Acc Co Deeds 1783-1788, p. 60). A William Wright, Senr was listed in the 1800 census for Accomack County, Accomack Parish, as over 45 years of age. He was listed again as over 45 in 1810. William Wright, Senr was ordered to be tax free on 28 December 1812 "by reason of age and infirmity" (Acc Co Orders 1812 - 1814, p.194). He apparently died between 1812 and 1820. On 9 May 1800, William Wright, Senr and wife Asha deeded 8 acres for 30 pounds to Thomas Justice, Sea Captain, land near the head waters of Gargatha, bordered east by George Hickman, south by the road leading to Gilford, west by Thomas Right's lands, and north by Solomon Baker (District Court Deeds 1800 - 1806, p. 138). Census records: indicate that William Wright, Senr could have had sons, but no children have been identified. William was born circa 1740 at Accomack Co, VA. He married Comfort (-----) circa 1775.¹ William was listed as a head of household in the census of in 1800 at Accomack Parish, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as William Wright Sen. (H.T.), age 45+. Listed with him were 1 male age 10-16, 2 females age 16-26, 1 female age 45+ and no free negroes or slaves. (NOTE: H.T. would have meant Horntown.).² He married Asha (-----) circa 1800.³ William died in 1812.

     Asha was born circa 1750 at Accomack Co, VA. She married William Wright Sr., son of Henry Wright II and Ann 'Nanny' (34) Scarburgh, circa 1800.¹

     Comfort was born circa 1750. She married William Wright Sr., son of Henry Wright II and Ann 'Nanny' (34) Scarburgh, circa 1775.¹

     Rachel was born circa 1745 at Accomack Co, VA.² She married Henry (79F) Wright III, son of Henry Wright II and Ann 'Nanny' (34) Scarburgh, circa 1768.¹ Rachel was named in her father's will on 20 December 1784 at Accomack Co, VA.      John was born circa 1700. He married Mary Scott, daughter of Henry Scott I and Deborah Cobb, circa 1728.¹ He made a will on 20 December 1784 at Accomack Co, VA. To son Thomas Pettit. Wife Mary & 4 children Rachel Wright, Mary Pettit, George & Thomas Pettit residual legatees. Wife Mary & son-in-law Henry Wright Executors. Witt: Charles Bagwell..¹ John died in April 1785.¹ John's will was probated on 27 April 1785 at Accomack Co, VA.¹

     Mary was born circa 1690 at Northampton Co, VA.¹ As of circa 1728,her married name was Pettitt.² She married John Pettitt circa 1728.²

     Elizabeth was born circa 1780 at Northampton Co, VA. She married John Wright, son of Henry (79F) Wright III and Rachel Pettitt, on 17 February 1802 at Northampton Co, VA. John Simkins was the security on the M.L.B. of John Wright and Betsey Dunton. They were married between 1 Jan and 30 Mar 1802 by J. Elliott..¹

     Hessy Wright sold to brother Thomas Wright, on 21 March 1800, 23 acres for 50 pounds "good and lawful Gold or Silver of Virginia" (DC Deeds 1800 - 1806, p. 5). No other record has been found of her. Esther was born circa 1779 at Accomack Co, VA.

     On 25 July 1814, Kendall Colony and wife Tabitha sold to Thomas Wright, 20 acres for 54 pounds, land bound southeast, southwest and northwest by other lands of Thomas Wright (Deeds 1812 - 1815, p. 416). Tabitha was born circa 1776 at Accomack Co, VA. She married Kendall Colonna on 23 January 1796 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as Kendall Colony and she was shown as Tabitha Right. No other information was given..^2,3

     William was born circa 1710 at Accomack Co, VA. William was named in his father's will on 5 February 1739 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as a son William and given 212 acres purchased of Charles Leatherbury & Isaa Dix in the will of Griffith Savage, wife Patience..² He married Elizabeth Rogers (Rogers?) circa 1750. William was named in his mother's will on 23 October 1765 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as a son William Hope Savage in the will of Patience Savage..¹ William died in March 1781.³

     Elizabeth was born circa 1730. She married William Hope Savage, son of Griffith Savage (II) and Patience Hope, circa 1750.

     William was born circa 1752 at Accomack Co, VA. He married Anne Young, daughter of William Young II and Margaret Dutton, before 10 March 1781 at Accomack Co, VA.² He made a will on 23 November 1791 at Accomack Co, VA. To wife Ann Savage use of land & whole estate during her widow to bring up my children, then to my son George 50 acres over the Gully next to Hampton Hickman's - The remainder of my land this side the Gully next to my brother George Savage to my son William Savage.      Mary was born circa 1750 at Accomack Co, VA.² She married Robert James, son of David James and Elizabeth (-----), circa 1766.³ As of circa 1766,her married name was James.³ Mary was named in her father's will on 9 October 1778 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as a daughter Mary James in the will of William Savage, wife Elizabeth. The lagecy was for life, reversion to her children.² Mary was named in her husband's will on 18 January 1787 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as wife Mary in the will of Robert James.⁴ She married Jacob Broadwater, son of Jacob Broadwater, on 5 October 1789 at Accomack Co, VA. They were shown as Jacob Broadwater and Mary James.⁵ As of 5 October 1789,her married name was Broadwater.⁵

     Griffin was born circa 1754 at Accomack Co, VA. He married Mary Young, daughter of William Young II and Margaret Dutton, before 10 March 1781.² Griffin died in September 1793.³ Administration of Griffin's estate was filed on 30 September 1793 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that William Young was named to settle the estate of Griffin Savage. Joseph Kelly was the security.³

     Elizabeth was born circa 1768 at Accomack Co, VA.

     (-----) was born circa 1760 at Accomack Co, VA. He married Ann 'Nancy' Savage, daughter of William Hope Savage and Elizabeth Rogers (Rogers?), circa 1788.¹

     Hetty was born circa 1821 at Accomack Co, VA. The 1860 census puts her birth at 1810, the 1870 census puts it at 1826 and her tombstone and obituary both put it at 1821..^1,2,3,4 She married Henry Thomas Wright, son of Henry Wright V and Catherine 'Caty' Bell, on 21 December 1852 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as Henry Thomas Wright of Henry and she was shown as Hetty Hannon.
