This John Stant's parents are unproven. There are 3 Acc Co marriage records of a John Stant, that could be this John Stant. He was not shown in the 1850 cenus in Accomack, Northampton, Somerset or Worcester Counties. He is listed in the 1860 Acc Census, age 44 and oystering, near Gilbert Stant, age 57. Pending other proof, he is being shown as the son of James Stant (bc 1795) who was married in 1816 and had a 10-15 year old male in his household in 1830. The age is a close match and all the other possible Stants parents in the 1830, 1840 and 1850 census have been eliminated as possibilities. John was born circa 1816 at Accomack Co, VA.1 He married Sarah Ann 'Sally' McCready, daughter of George McCready and Nancy Bunting, on 2 July 1836 at Accomack Co, VA.
