Samuel was born circa 1764 at Accomack Co, VA. Samuel was named in his father's will on 24 February 1776 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as my son Samuel Coleburn in the will of John Coleburn, wife Catrin. He gave him 25 acres on Sedar Island.2 Samuel was named in his mother's will on 29 May 1795 at Accomack Co, VA. He was shown as my son Samuel Coleburn in the will of Catharine Coleburn.3 He married Joice Ames, daughter of Levin Ames and Mary Hutchinson, circa 1796 at Accomack Co, VA.4 Samuel Coleburn bought land in 1801 at Killmantown, Acc Co, VA. It was in this year that Samuel Coleburn bought 150 acres of tract A51 from Hugh Walker (of Norfolk) and Elizabeth, widow of John Walker Sr. Two years later it was surveyed as 184 acres, with 111 acres to Samuel Coleburn and 73 acres for Levin Rodgers. The Coleburn part was adjacent to the land owned by his wife Joyce and after his intestate death she divided the two parts between her sons Thomas A. and Samuel C. Coleburn. It later became know as Killmantown, when it was purchased by William Killman.5 He died before 24 June 1805 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Samuel Coleburn was granted to Joice Coleburn with George Coleburn & Capt. William Stran securities.6 He estate was settled on 26 November 1821 at Accomack Co, VA.7

Susanna was born circa 1786 at Accomack Co, VA. She married Keely Stott on 30 November 1807 at Accomack Co, VA. Tho. Custis of Robt. was the security on the M.L.B. of Keely Stott and Susanna West..2 Susanna was named as an heir in November 1818 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that the division of John C. West’s slaves was made. George Scarburgh and Cassey his wife, John Leatherbury and Betsey his wife, Raymond Riley and Sally his wife, Henry Custis and Tabby his wife, Sukey Stott, Eliza P. C., Margaret A., Sarah H., George P., Anne R., Catherine C. and Tabitha S. Scarburgh by George Scarburgh their next friend Complainants vs Margaret West Defendant in chancery. It was ordered that John Addison, John T. Elliott and John C. Mapp divide the slaves Aaron, Betty, Hannah, Nanny, Mary, Esther, Parker, Custis and Eliza in the following manner: To George Scarburgh & ux in right of said wife, to John Leatherbury & ux in right of said wife, to Raymond Riley & ux in right of said wife, to Henry Custis & ux in right of said wife, to Sukey Stott and Margaret West each 1/7 and to Eliza P. C., Margaret A., Sarah H., George P., Anne R., Catherine C., and Tabitha S. Scarburgh 1/7 equally among them.” The final decree is in Order Book 37 page 227 and this shows that these are the slaves of John C. West.3 She died before 13 April 1840 at Northampton Co, VA. It was on this date that administration on the estate of Susan Stott was granted to George P. Scarburgh with a bond of $2,000. Appraisers were named, but there were no administration records.4

He was given my plantation with the land & mill & if he dies without heirs, then to my daughter Polly Floyd.1 He died before 6 January 1803 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that the inventory of Benjamin Floyd was taken and it was recorded on 26 Feb 1805.3,4 He was named in a land cause on 18 October 1803 at St. George Parish, Acc Co, VA. That Benjamin Floyd, the elder, being seized as of fee of and in a certain tract of land containing by estimation 150 acres, of which the lands in the declaration mentioned are a part, with the water grist mill in the said declaration mentioned, lying in the Parish of St. George and County of Accomack, and having three children, to-wit: Elizabeth, one of the lessors of the plaintiff, by one venter, also Benjamin and Polly Floyd by a second venter, and being so seized on the 20 Nov. 1801 made his last will & testament, and afterwards, to-wit: on the ____ day of ____ 1802, the said Benjamin Floyd the elder departed this life leaving the said will in full force, which said will was probated 27 Dec. 1802; that by virtue of the said will the said Benjamin Floyd the younger, and devisee of the said lands and mill in the said will mentioned, immediately after the death of the said Benjamin the elder, entered into the said lands and mill and became seized thereof and being so seized on the ____ day of ____ 1803 departed this life an infant, under age and without issue, and leaving Elizabeth, the lessor of the plaintiff, his sister of the half blood on the part of his said father, and the defendant his sister of the whole blood, and his mother a certain Molly Floyd, &c.2
