He named his brother, William T. Wright, as executor. Between the time Samuel Wright wrote his will and his death, his brother had died and John J. Blackstone was named to settle his estate. The land Samuel Wright inherited from his father was sold on 4 November 1879 to Thomas Littleton, as 70 acres at $1711. The proceeds were divided, 1/5 each to: Mary Ann Rew, Catherine Wright, Catherine Hope, Sarah Hope, and the three children of William T. Wright (Chancery Orders 1877 - 1882, p. 361)..⁷ Samuel died on 21 August 1877 at age 73.² His body was interred at Wright Cem, Rew, Acc Co, VA.
