In a land cause recorded on 25 May 1762 it was brought out that of the three sons (Edmund, John and Robert) who inherited land from their father Edward Bayly in 1716 on Mossongo Creek, that Edmund by a deed dated 5 May 1724, conveyed to Daniel Shae, ancestor to the defendant John Shae, 133 1/3 acres, part of the premises in question. It was also noted that about 3 years after the deed of 1724, Edmund moved from Accomack County to Sussex County where he continued to live until his death about 5 years ago. (Note: This would have put his death at about 1757.) The said Edmund left issue his son Edward, the lessor of the plaintiff, his only son & heir at law. In addition to the land cause information, Whitelaw adds that in 1717 Edward Bayly (wife not named) left to his sons Edmund, John and Robert; John disappears from the records, and later on Edmund and Robert disposed of more land than they were supposed to inherit. In 1724 Edmond Bayly sold his own inheritance as 133 1/3 acres to Daniel Shae, and the next year Edmond and Elenor Bayly joined with his brother Robert in a sale of the John and Robert parts to Shae. At the same time they sold as excess of 83 acres to William Lucas Jr..3,2 Edmund died circa 1757 at Sussex Co, PA.4

He was named as son Robert Bayly in the will of Edward Bayly and he was one of 3 sons, along with Edmund & John, who were to receive land at the head of Mesongo Creek..1 Robert sold land on 30 January 1725 at Accomack Co, VA. In was brought out in a land cause of 25 May 1762 that Edmund and Robert Bayly by their deed dated 30 Jan 1724/25 sold to Daniel Shae in fee 267 acres, being part of the lands in question, which was the land they, along with their brother John (who was then dec'd) had inherited from their father Edward Bayly in 1717. In addition to this information, Whitelaw adds that in 1725 Edmond and Elenor Bayly joined with his brother Robert in a sale of the John and Robert parts to Shae. Edmund had sold his 133 acres to Shae the prior year, 1724..2,3 Robert bought land in 1741 at Accomack Co, VA. It was in this year that Jedidiah Ewell, heir-at-law to Solomon, and his stepfather, Charles Stockley, united in a deed to Robert Bayly for 100 acres. In 1787 Robert and Mary Bayly sold as 73 acres to George Corbin, who later left to his daughter Agnes D. Ker. (Note: It would have been Robert's son Robert, who married Mary Massey, that would have heired and sold the land in 1787.).4 Robert died circa 1750. The land cause of 25 May 1762 notes that Edmund Bayly of Sussex County died about 5 years ago (about 1757) and that Edmund survived both of his brothers John and Robert. It also notes that Robert is since dead leaving issue, but the issue was not named..2
