     Bloomfield was born on 7 June 1897 at Northampton Co, VA.2 Bloomfield was listed with his parents in the census of 1900 at Eastville, N'hamp Co, VA. He was shown as Bloomfield Miles, a 2 year old son, born Jun 1897 in HH#189 headed by Richard E. Miles, a 56 year old farmer.3 Bloomfield died on 3 August 1953 at P.G. Hospital, Salisbury, Wic Co, MD, at age 56. Mr. Bloomfield Miles, 56, of Fruitland, MD died Monday, August 3rd at 6 A.M. at Peninsula General Hospital, after a short illness. He was strickened with a heart attack Monday A.M. July 27th and later showed signs of improvement until Friday, July 30th, when he was stricken with pneumonia, of which he succumbed. He was the son of the late Richard Miles, Sr. and Mary Carpenter Miles. He was born in the vicinity of Machipongo where he lived the earlier years of his life.
Mr. Miles was a veteran of World War I enlisting in the Army in 1918. In 1920 he made his home for a while in Nassawadox, while there he married Miss Margaret Savage of Keller in Sept. 1920. he then moved to Hebron, MD and made his home in the vicinities of Hebron, Salisbury and Fruitland, Md until his death. Funeral was held at Holloways Funeral Home, Salisbury, Md. on Wednesday at 2 P.M. Interment was in Hebron Cemetery. Mr. Miles is survived by wife Margaret Savage Miles; one son, Roy Miles of Salisbury; one daughter, Jean Ryall; one grandson, Donnie Miles; one granddaughter, Bonnie Jean Ryall; one half brother, two half sisters on father's side: Mr. Clifford Miles, Exmore; Mrs. Gussie Beachboard and Mrs. Lena Beachboard, Accomac; one brother Charlie Miles, Cape Charles; one half brother, two half sisters on mother's side: William T. Davis, Nassawadox; Mrs. Evelyn Isdell, Mrs. Katie Townsend, Birdsnest. The funeral was largely attended and the floral tributes were numerous and beautiful, showing that Mr. Miles had a host of friends..2

During the Rev. War he served in Capt. William Polk's Company. He performed duty at Upshur's Point, Parramore's Landing, at Metompkin and other points. He served under arms at least 3 years during the Rev. War in Accomack Co. He was born in St. George's Parish in Accomack Co.1 Hillary died on 1 April 1836. On 30 Dec 1850 it was recorded that Hillary Mears, a soldier of the Rev. War, died circa 1 Apr 1836, leaving no widow, but leaving the following children: William B. Mears, Jesse Mears, Nancy Mears who married John Turlington, George Mears and Elizabeth Mears. Since his death the following have died: Nancy Turlington, wife of said John Turlington, who left the following children: William T. Turlington and Nathaniel Turlington who are 21 years of age and upwards, Elizabeth A. Turlington and John H. Turlington, minors; Peter Turlington is their guardian. William B. Mears died leaving children: David P. Mears, who is 21 year old or older, Jesse Mears and Thomas Mears who are minors. George H. Bell is admr. of the estate of Hillary Mears..7
