She was shown as daughter Mary in the will of Robert James, wife Mary.² Mary was named in her brother's will on 14 May 1796 at Accomack Co, VA. She was shown as my sister Mary James in the will of William James, unmarried.³ She was named in a land cause on 7 August 1798 at Accomack Co, VA. It was on this date that it was recorded that a certain William James, lately dec'd, was in his lifetime and at the time of his death, seized of 200 acres of land on Kecotank Branch, and being so seized on the 14 May 1796, made his last will & testament and devised the aforesaid land to the said Betsy, now the wife of William Coleburn, Nancy now wife of Charles Kellam, and the said Molly & Hetty James, and afterwards on 16 May 1796, the said William James departed his life.⁴ As of 1 September 1804,her married name was Savage.¹ She married Zorobabel Savage, son of George Savage, on 1 September 1804 at Accomack Co, VA. He married Margaret 'Peggy' Cowley, daughter of (-----) Cowley, circa 1775.² John was named in his father's will on 17 October 1784 at Accomack Co, VA. Robert Young and Richard R. Savage were the securities on the 1807 Acc M.L.B. of David James and Leah Young..⁴ As of 23 May 1807,her married name was James.⁴ On 11 February 1809, David James & Leah his wife joined with some of her other siblings and sold land to their brother, Robert Young, 3¼ acres for $158.25, "late the property of Major William Young, deceased, near Guilford warehouse" (Acc Co Deeds 1810 - 1812, p. 80). Leah Young was named in her husband's estate settlement on 23 November 1814 at Accomack Co, VA. In describing the ownership of tract A147 (in the Hallwood - Temperanceville area), Whitelaw states that Edward Thornton married Tabitha by 1750.      Bridget was born circa 1700. She married William Broadwater, son of William Broadwater, circa 1720.¹ Bridget was living on 1 November 1773 at Accomack Co, VA.¹

     In his will, written 19 Jun 1783, William Broadwater named a wife Comfort; sons William, John, Ephraim and Henry (under 21) Broadwater; and daughters Mary, Ann, and Susanna Broadwater. To wife Comfort Broadwater all her estate she had before I married her. Aforesaid children residual legatees. Son William and wife Comfort executors. Witnesses were Jacob Broadwater and William Broadwater (Acc Co Wills, 1780-84, p. 388). William was born circa 1722 at Accomack Co, VA.      On 21 Jan 1795, Ephraim Broadwater witnessed the will of Nanney Massey (Acc Co Wills &c., 1794-96, p. 131). On 27 Feb 1797, Nancy Burton's and Susanna Broadwater's estates were administered to Ephraim Broadwater, with William Bruington and John Wilkins securities (Acc Co Orders, 1796-98, p. 189). Ephraim was born circa 1754 at Accomack Co, VA. Ephraim was living on 19 June 1783 at Accomack Co, VA. Ephraim died after 1797.¹

     Hillary Sherwood was the security on the 1804 Acc Co M.L.B. of Henry Broadwater of William and Euphany Hill. Henry was born after 1762 at Accomack Co, VA. Henry was living on 19 June 1783 at Accomack Co, VA. He married Euphany Hill on 11 February 1804 at Accomack Co, VA.¹

     In his will, written 24 Nov 1790, William Broadwater named a wife Esther, a son Savage Broadwater and a brother John Broadwater. To wife Esther all my land where I now live during her widowhood and then to my son Savage Broadwater. My interest in the land where James Warrington now lives to be sold for the payment of my debts. Brother John Broadwater executor. Witnesses were Elias Broadwater and Martha Pitt (Acc Co Wills, 1788-94, p. 361). This William (wife Esther) inherited the land of his great grandfather William, who left 125 acres to his son William (wife Bridget) in 1726, which then went to his son William (wife Comfort) in 1774, and then to this William (wife Esther) in 1783. It was the northeast quarter. This William (wife Esther) left the home part to his son Savage Broadwater, and directed that the part where James Warrington lived was to be sold. A survey the next year produced 148 acres, of which Savage received 100 acres, and the 48 acres at the east end were sold to Custis Jenkinson (Witelaw, p. 1292). Conquest the head of HH#588, a 34 year old farmer with real estate valued at $6,100. Listed with him were the following Conquests: Mary A., age 33; Joseph Sr., age 78; Mary P., age 5; and Emma, age 4. Also listed were Elizabeth Justice, age 10 and Betty Cole, age 55 and black..² Edward died on 15 April 1889 at age 73.¹ His body was interred at Conquest Plot, Temperanceville, Acc Co, VA.¹

     On 14 Sep 1771, Jesse Broadwater witnessed the will of Elias Vanelson (Acc Co Wills &c., 1772-77, p. 1). In his will, dated 15 Nov 1784, Jessee Broadwater named 2 sisters, Susanna and Ann Broadwater as sole legatees. Friend William Burton to be executor.      Caleb was born circa 1750 at Accomack Co, VA.¹ He married Elizabeth Dickerson circa 1770.¹ Caleb was a member of the armed forces serving at the Revolution.¹ Caleb was living on 21 January 1795 at Accomack Co, VA. He married Sarah 'Sally' Thornton on 28 April 1800 at Accomack Co, VA.² Caleb died on 6 May 1827.¹
